In giving my 12 year old son a film education, a few months ago he asked if we could watch more modern movies. He said while he likes the movies I show him, can we watch something newer, not "older movies, like from 2015."

I'd say the pandemic aftershocks are still being felt and 2025 has been a particularly brutally awful year at the cinema, but we aren't that far removed from 2019 and 2013, two of the best movie years ever imo.
