Would Dogma be the historic Kevin Smith film? I’m a big fan of Clerks, Dogma, and Chasing Amy.

I mean in terms of Smith’s work, I mean to me Dogma has more rewatchability, but Chasing Amy is the better film.

Best thing about Kevin smith was his sister. She was my Spanish teacher for one year in high school

Goodfellas

Point Break

Heat

Fargo

Leon: The Professional

Though I could easily list 50.

This topic highlights how good movies were then. Most movies suck these days.

That year specifically reminds me. In giving my 12 year old son a film education, a few months ago he asked if we could watch more modern movies. He said while he likes the movies I show him, can we watch something newer, not "older movies, like from 2015."

Most movies have always sucked. I'd say the pandemic aftershocks are still being felt and 2025 has been a particularly brutally awful year at the cinema, but we aren't that far removed from 2019 and 2013, two of the best movie years ever imo.
