I guess this is the return on investment for gifting der fuhrer a plane and a golf course.Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Friday the U.S. will host a new Qatari air force facility in Idaho, where pilots will train to fly F-15s. Hegseth said the Trump administration has signed the letter greenlighting the building of a Qatar Emiri air force contingent at the Mountain Home Air Force Base located in southwestern Idaho. Qatar Emiri air force is the air arm of Qatar’s armed forces. "Location will be host to a contingent of Qatari F-15s and pilots to enhance our combined training, increase lethality, interoperability,” Hegeseth said Friday. "It’s just another example of our partnership.”Mountain Home Air Force Base, located in Elmore County, already hosts Singapore’s air force F-15SG fighter jets.

Singapore pilots receive training at the Mountain Home Air Force base, using US facilities. They do not have their own facility.

October 11, 2025Oct 11 Eh, this is kind of a nothing burger. I understand the debate on the merits of if we should be aligning with Qatar, but these things happen all the time.Singapore has been stated, but we also do the same thing in AZ with the UAE and Norway. Lots of F-15s out of Mountain Home, and Qatar just bought a whole bunch of them.More of less partner nations own the planes at whatever domestic facilities there are, but we control everything about them and the facility itself.The uproar has more to do with the fact that no one in the Trump Admin can read a room with regards to optics of press releases.
