I don't see how Ringo and Jackson can be on this team unless everything is rigged

Im at the point of wanting to throw coop at CB2, Mukuba slot, and grab CJGJ for his usual position. Cut adoree whenever mitchell and Bennett return. Atleast Ringo tries, as sht as he is. Adoree effort is balls.

This teams hurting.

I mean let’s be honest… your proposal there is no worse than the current situation and in all likelihood is a lot better!

Ringo doesn't really try either, he gave up a catch and just stood there while the receiver got up and ran another 7 yards.

I think Ringo is just a little bit dumb. Literally.

Fair enough lol

Next we play Justin Jefferson, who Howie passed up at the draft for Reagor, and with Wentz, who we cut, at their stadium with their excellent offensive head coach with these two guys at CB and no pass rush...and the Eagles are 2 1/2 point favorites?

Nah, this team just isn't anywhere near as talented as last years team. AT ALL. And the new OC has zero experience as an OC, and IT SHOWS.

Howie made mistakes and ultimately a lot of us said it at the time. We knew Williams and Sweat were going to go so that wasn’t the issue. But to let Becton and Rodgers go? That was a mistake. They didn’t get huge huge deals and I think we could have brought those guys back. Instead he bet on bargain basement signings and young guys needing to take a huge step forwards.

Ringo has been wildly inconsistent, but has shown positive things in coverage, There is something there to work with. His tackling needs to improve. I'm not overly concerned with where he is as a pro because he came into the NFL so raw. Jackson is a journeyman that has been underwhelming as a signing. But I do feel like he is coming off his best game, coverage-wise, for us including the preseason. I have not been a fan of his, but I don't feel Sunday's game is the one I want to complain about.

The game itself was disappointing for the whole team. That doesn't mean I feel the need to pick apart my least favorite players. I though Jackson for the most part was in good coverage.

Huh? Did you not see him against NY? The effort on the TD run? Him always trailing behind WRs. Ringo is bad but they went after Jackson more. Neither are good enough and whilst either are on the field we have a real weak spot that teams can and will get at.

Yes, I watched the game and thought he was respectable in coverage --- which was a huge improvement for him since he's been here. Ringo, on the other hand, had his worst effort and I'm right with Fangio on this one ---- Based on last week, Jackson is ahead of Ringo. Neither player is a net positive as a tackler. While Jackson chose to go for a hit instead of a tackle on that TD run, Ringo couldn't be bothered to touch a player that was laying on the ground.

I'm really rooting for Ringo to develop, because there would be plenty of upside if he did. But right now he needs to sit and contemplate what kind of player he wants to become. Jackson is a player on the decline that we need to replace quickly --- there just isn't anybody on the roster ready to replace him yet.

I don't blame Howie for wanting to just play the younger guys. It's a philosophy that has worked for the last 4 years. Basically live and die with the players you drafted.

Shame Howie either didn't try or wasn't able to bring back Isaiah Rodgers. Such an underrated corner. He was a sleeper on the Colts before his gambling suspension and then we got him on the cheap for a season. Makes letting Slay go not as digestible since there really wasn't a backup plan besides hoping the young guys would pan out.

There was reason to be optimistic about Ringo based on his limited opportunities in his 1st 2 seasons plus the fact that he was neck and neck with Rodgers through most of the 2024 training camp. For whatever reason, Ringo seems to have taken a step backwards this season. It is a bit concerning to some because we'd prefer to see continual progress in young players. It is year 3 for Ringo and it was time to get him out there for a good look. That was part of the plan. The backup plan was the signing of Jackson. That provided an experienced vet with around over 80 career NFL starts who would come in if Ringo was still not ready. We also continue to develop Eli Ricks and we drafted McWilliams to push for a future role.

You may not like the plan or the backup plan, but there was both.

The Eagles have the 12th ranked passing defense, allowing 208.5 yards/game. People are acting like we're giving up 400 passing yards per game. Jalen Carter has missed 2 whole games and part of another. Nolan Smith has missed more than 3 games. Mitchell missed most of the last game. Dean missed the 1st 5 games entirely. The offense has been struggling and the ST return and coverage units are a huge net negative in terms of field position. Considering we replaced 4 starters from last year's defense and a couple key reserves and have had to deal with the injuries on top of that, I think people are being overly dramatic about how the defense has performed to this point. I concede there is reason to be a bit concerned, but there is also reason to be a bit optimistic as we start to get some players back from injury (like Dean, Carter, Mitchell, and hopefully Nolan Smith soon).

I blame Howie for believing too much in youth and for thinking he can keep signing bargain basement guys that can play a crucial role.

It worked last year though and had the youngest defense and the #1 defense to show for it. So why not try it again? It's not going to work every year obviously but doesn't mean you change philosophy the very next year after the year you just had.

Jaire Alexander the player you were upset they didn't go after has played in only 2 games and not even as a starter for the 1-5 Ravens and their defense is a hot mess right now..

I'll leave it as I don't like the plan or backup plan if it went as you have stated. They had a known quantity that likely wanted to stay in Philly after the team gave him a chance coming off his gambling suspension. I don't know the details if they talked contract and couldn't come to an agreeable number, but it is unfortunate. Injuries are always a risk in the NFL and you have to admit the team was going into the season weaker and thinner at CB with only two known talents at this point in time in Quinyon and DeJean. Ringo was on a rookie contract and they could have let him continue to develop and step in as the 4th CB or due to injuries when needed.

I don't mind the Adoree Jackson signing, but if they had the chance and the money to spend to bring back Rodgers that would have been a much better option. I personally felt that retaining Baun and Rodgers were the two most important free-agents to pursue. Was amazed to see them finally retain a MLB, but disappointed to see Rodgers go. I fully expected Sweat, Milton, and Becton to leave and two of them, possibly all 3, to get overpaid.
