He let CB Rodgers walk rather than match a 2 year 11 mil offer

Insisted Ringo start at CB due to the 3rd round pick we gave up for him

Signed CB Jackson even though Vic didn't want him

Traded a solid DT Booker for a CB Bennett who we thought could start but as of yet hasn't played

Traded playmaker S CJ because he wanted him out of the locker room

Watched Sweat leave for 18-19 mil a year after we wasted 25 mil on Huff and spent 4 mil Ojulari

Signed Cam Jurgens in April to a deal thru 2029 with 39.4 mil guaranteed AFTER he had a debilitating back injury followed by back surgery. He's no longer the same player and we have him for 4 more years after this one

Brought back Toth for the 5th or 6th year and inserted him into the starting line up

Let Becton walk

Traded a 5 & 6 for Bigsby who can't field kick offs and has no role in the backfield

Never brought in a veteran safety

That beer can did a lot of damage.

And...with the 15 league issued picks in the last three drafts in rounds 3-7 and with 4 other compensatory picks in those drafts...

those 19 picks have two producers. Steen a decent pass blocking RG in the early 3rd round and Ojomo a great value in the 7th and a decent rotational piece at DT

Ringo and Brown both costing us 3rd round picks are both busts. Hunt also a 3rd rounder to this point doesn't make tackles or get to the qb.

McKee was a great 6th round pick who will never play for us. He will walk after next year for a 4th or 5th round comp pick so we will trade him after the season for an early 3rd round pick probably to

the Jets, Dolphins or Saints. Kendall & Hinton have ability and may be future contributors. Trotter won't play unless an injury and maybe Mondon can cover in the nickel some day and McWilliams in the slot

The past 3 drafts in rounds 3 thru 7 we only have 2 picks producing

We need that beer can! We need the fingerprints! We need access to AFIS! We need a match! We need a swat team to find and arrest the suspect! Costing us our season!

Dang, that's a detailed and well thought out post, well done.

The thread title is funny as hell. Made me LOLOLOL.

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode, in which George stopped having sex and then became like super smart.

Cool

The solution is obvious … Howie needs to be hit in the head with another beer can to reset the system.

He also resigned Barkley right after putting a lot of mileage on an old set of tires.

He was also trying to get rid of Goedert who’s been our best receiver so far.

But at least he resigned Baun…

On the bright side we have a great Kicker and the Punter. LOL.

PS did you mention the Punt returner issues? They tried everyone but the piss boy. I miss the preseason of old, when these things could have been worked out in camp.

The consequences could be dire. He will resign Lane for 10 more years and guarantee his salary.

That's just proven science right there.

This team lost a lot of talent prior to all of the guys going down to injuries. This team has real depth issues and this hasn’t been a great offseason for Howie.

One of the funnier thread topics I’ve seen in a while.

I LOL’d

I see it differently . The owner wanted to have an elite offense. That is why everyone on offense got paid. Because of the money constraint the Defensive depth Sweat, Rodgers, others, were allowed to walk instead of being resigned. What we got now is a dysfunctional offense and Defense devoid of depth. All of this is because the owner chose to prioritize offense instead of balancing the budget, or at least spending a good portion on defensive depth. You gather what you saw.

Me I would always prioritize Defense over the offense. I love Jalen but his salary will choke this team. I love AJ but he is almost completely redundant. I Love Barkley, but our offensive line is not what it used to be, and the Barkley stats show it. 250 mil offense is performing almost last in the league. Thanks Jeff.

Yeah doesn't make good reading that. Mistakes were made

I wonder how this thread will read in late February?

hopefully as well as the fire sirianni thread went last season.

Someone pelt that melon of his with another beer can, maybe will bring him back to normal

Meh, Howie's gotten us two Super Bowl wins in the last eight years and SB appearances in two of the last three seasons. We've been perennial SB contenders for much of the last decade even when we don't make it there. He's pretty much above reproach at this point.

Even the things that haven't worked out have had sound logic behind them. When you have a superstar QB, you have to allocate a large percentage of your cap to him which will necessitate skimping elsewhere. It's just the nature of the beast. So obviously it would have been nice to re-sign Sweat, Williams, Rodgers, Becton, retain Slay, it just isn't fiscally possible. Howie prioritized keeping his superstar QB and retaining the players that keep said QB upright, while being stingier on the defense and allocating tons of draft picks on that side of the ball. And honestly, looking at the state of the league, that's the right call. It's a league built on offense, but speed and youth on defense are key.

And despite the relatively bad results so far (I mean, we are 4-2 and alone in first place in the NFC East), I think Howie's built one of the best rosters in the NFL. We've just had execution issues, an offense that's struggling to get on the same page as its coordinator, and a QB that's underperforming at the moment.

Agreed. Which is why I will not ever throw a beer can at his head!

I saw the Eagles win two (TWO!!) SBs in my lifetime, in part thanks to him. So I'm good with Howie. He won't get it 100% right all of the time.

At least not full ones! P
