These are all late kind of panic moves as a whole. Howie is basically reacting to an unfinished roster that is lacking in depth in some key areas especially on both lines and in the secondary. Last season Maddox was for the most part an extra cog of a player and he used to be a starter. He probably starts for this team now too. They just let four members of the secondary walk away and their replacements just aren’t good enough.

Adding BG helps some, and they need the help.

No no I completely get that and look I wouldn’t tell anyone to turn away that kind of money. I’m just saying I think he retired on the ultimate high and that was a fairytale ending.

I'll be happy if BG can just help stop the run...which is sorely needed. Given our current healthy Edges, he should basically be a starter and/or be the early down run stopper.

If he's got some gas left in the tank, then I'm all for him trying to empty said tank.

He could be good for a TFL, or two, per game. Set the edge a little bit, help out on run D, and possibly get some QB hurries/pressure. Hell, maybe even get sack or three.
