Posted October 27, 2025Oct 27 Only the hard core Jordan Davis haters can have been watching the past eight games and not be impressed. Davis has been on the field for 64% of the team's 523 Defensive snaps, as well as a significant number of Special Teams snaps. He has 3 sacks, 4 TFLs several at key moments, a blocked FG, 34 total tackles, 4 QB hits, 3 PBUs.What more do the haters want?
October 27, 2025Oct 27 I don't envy some of the roster management decisions Howie is going to need to make moving forward. He's drafting so well, he's going to have to find a way to pay multiple guys as best in class at their position, or make the strategic decision on who to let walk.Davis, Carter, Nolan Smith, Mitchell, DeJean, Jalyx, Nakobe (top tier talent, but cannot seem to say consistently healthy), and maybe even Steen

October 27, 2025Oct 27 Who’s hating on Jordan Davis right now? He’s been one of their better defenders and frankly he’s a great guy that you want to root for. He came in ready to play and he’s earning his keep. Extend the man.

October 27, 2025Oct 27 Definitely having a really good season, improved his conditioning and made some really good plays. Can we really afford to extend both Davis and Carter though? Davis has had the better year, but it makes such a huge difference when Carter is on the field.Carter will want a boat load of cash and he is an elite talent. But he is having on and off the field issues and hasn’t taken the step up yet into the DPOY candidate he should be.Hard choices ahead.
October 28, 2025Oct 28 He's half a sack away from what Aaron Donald, I mean Milton Williams, put up last year.
October 28, 2025Oct 28 What is the production of Davis??? vs Production of Carter??? What is the cost to resign Davis long term? What is the cost to resign Carter long term?Is Carter production worth that much more than Davis????Something to think about.
October 30, 2025Oct 30 If Daniel Jones wasn't having a resurgence I'd vote for Davis comeback player of the year. There is nothing to complain about with him. He got in shape, dedicated himself and it is showing big time.

Sadly won’t hear from those that called him a bust.

October 31, 2025Oct 31 I've mentioned this a few times in other threads: It's not uncommon for DTs to take a few seasons to breakout in the NFL --- even prospects drafted early. It's actually the usual path. When it comes to critics, they often have plenty of reasonable criticisms of young players. Unfortunately, you rarely hear/read them framing their critiques in a positive light. Often they add dumb things like, "we need to cut ties, move on, etc..." The expectations for players to come into the NFL and dominate from day 1 are based on a pure lack of patience. There's also a small amount of critics that don't really care about the player as much as they just hate Howie so much they root for his picks to fail. It's strange, but we've seen these people double down on their weird stances. Again, there's nothing wrong with talking about the negatives of any player. People shouldn't be so quick to completely overlook the positives, though --- especially when discussing young, developing players.
October 31, 2025Oct 31 I was on board with wanting the Eagles to pick up his 5th year option. My main concern with Davis was, and still is, if he got himself in shape in order to perform well enough to get paid...not necessarily in order to be the best he can be for the rest of his career. Will he be one of those guys who gets his money and then stops trying as hard and is content to be fat and happy (and rich)? It took him until midway through year 3 of his career to actually start "realizing" he needed to be in better shape. Carter is gonna break the bank...even though he seems to not be progressing as much as we would have thought this year (so far). Davis could probably be extended for a much lesser deal than what Carter will demand.
October 31, 2025Oct 31 I think Carter may get his 5th year picked up and told he needs to buckle down and cut down the dumb penalties to get the big extension. The talent is clearly there but the maturity is lacking. Davis is the perfect example of someone knuckling down and getting serious about their career, lets see if Carter can do the same.
October 31, 2025Oct 31 I'm not minimizing Carter's immaturity or Fangio's' comment that his conditioning was lacking. But we also need to consider that he's struggled with multiple injuries this year.

Davis is the perfect example of someone knuckling down and getting serious about their career, lets see if Carter can do the same.I feel that older fans kind of expect today's young NFL players to be more mature than the average one actually is when they arrive. Unfortunately the culture in this country no longer prioritizes virtues like maturity, responsibility , hard work, etc... Players are gift-wrapped college educations and most couldn't care less about that. The entitlement is real. One of the reasons the Chip Kelly culture failed miserably is because most of these young men are mentally large children and need a pseudo-father-coach to guide them or a vet "big brother" to mentor them. Culturally, the Eagles' "family" approach under this coaching staff helps with today's athletes. But we saw a few of the vet mentors retire the last couple seasons and that probably isn't great for a guy like Carter that is more of a follower than a leader. I do believe he'll mature at some point and that's when he'll be the best at his position. I think he wants that and I believe he'll get there. There's no doubt in my mind that he'll get extended as soon as he is eligible. Penalties are a byproduct of aggressiveness. Carter will probably draw a couple roughing the passer penalties every season because he gets a lot of pressures. Some of them probably won't even be good calls. But this is expected. What we don't want to see are game disqualifications or totally unnecessary retaliations that draw flags. I really don't get the impression he's a hot-head or anything. He just made some immature decisions because of immaturity.
November 1, 2025Nov 1 He's been very good this season! Love his effort, energy, and production. I guess we'll see what he gets $ from the Iggles. I don't think he'll break the bank with a new deal. The bank breaking will probably come from Carter. If he cleans up his immature self.

And exercise the 5th year option on Carter. Right now his trajectory is pointing down after what he did last year ... hopefully he can turn that around and be the dominant force (consistently) we thought he'd be.
