Eagles Run Over the Giants

Posted October 26th, 2025

The Eagles finally found an answer to their struggling run game…playing the Giants. Over the first seven games of the year, the Eagles had a total of 617 rushing yards. On Sunday the guys in kelly green ran for 276 yards and dominated the Giants. Finally, the Eagles looked like…the Eagles.

Saquon Barkley sprinted 65 yards for a TD on the second play of the game, giving us all a hint of how things would go. Barkley finished with 150 yards on only 14 carries. Tank Bigsby joined the fun, running for 104 yards on 9 carries. The Giants had no answer for them.

We’ve spent a lot of this season blaming the OL for a lot of the issues in the run game. Today we have to give the guys up front a lot of credit. Brett Toth started at center, but you wouldn’t know it. The announcers weren’t calling his name on a regular basis or pointing out critical mistakes. Usually an OL flying under the radar means he’s doing his job well. I’ll be interested to see what the tape shows. Toth did have a good block on the long TD run and looked good on a couple of pulls.

Kevin Patullo did a good job with the runs he called. With his changes and improved OL play, the run game could be headed in the right direction, and that would be huge for the rest of the season. You need impact plays from Barkley and the other RBs. The Eagles got them today.

The Eagles won the LOS on both sides of the ball. The OL got good push in the run game and the DL limited the Giants to 21-68 on the ground. Cam Skattebo suffered a horrible injury (do not go watch that) and finished just 3-12. The Eagles had 5 sacks and got good pressure on Jaxson Dart. For the first time all season, the Eagles out-gained their opponent, 427-246. This was a complete game.

What about Jalen Hurts and the passing attack? There are normally issues when AJ Brown misses a game. Hurts only threw for 179 yards. That’s because the Eagles ran so well they didn’t have to throw. He finished 15-20 with 4 TDs and a rating of 141.5. This has to be the best two-game stretch of his career. There are some things to nitpick, but Hurts played well and helped the Eagles to their best offensive showing of the year.

With Brown out, other guys stepped up. Dallas Goedert had a pair of TD receptions. Jahan Dotson hauled in a 40-yard TD catch. He had to jump up and go over the CB to get to that ball. Barkley caught a short TD pass. Rookie Darius Cooper drew a PI call.

The defense was worlds better than the first Giants game. They played more zone coverage and that cause Dart to hold the ball longer as he tried to find the open guy. There were times when the coverage was outstanding.

Jalyx Hunt played his best game of the year last week. He built on that with another strong performance.

If Hunt starts to play well consistently and you add Nolan Smith and Brandon Graham back to the mix, the Eagles pass rush could be in good shape for the second half of the season.

One of the stories of this game was bad officiating. The Eagles benefited from some calls and were hurt by others. No matter which side you were on, everyone agreed that the officials had a bad day. Brian Daboll looked like he was about ready to explode.

Well done, Mr. Bama.

Nick Sirianni can feel good about his team after a game like this. They blocked and tackled well. They were physical. They produced big plays on offense and limited them on defense. And they didn’t turn the ball over. That’s winning football.

The Eagles now head to their bye week for some much needed rest. Barkley hurt his groin in the game. The team was already missing three starters. Some of the guys who did play weren’t close to 100 percent. Getting rested and healthy will be huge for this team heading into the second half of the season.
