Would your top target be a corner or Edge at the deadline?

I think we can agree they are our biggest needs.

We have reinforcements coming, particularly at edge.

I was leaning towards corner but now starting to think edge might be the way to go.

Hopefully Ringo has turned a corner (cutting of dreads making the difference?), but it seems more likely he had a good game against a weak passing attack. Hopefully Bennett can stay healthy.

I think corner. I know we need an edge but we are getting reinforcements there right? BG coming back and Nolan getting healthy. Carter starting to look really good too will open so much up for the DEs. CB is such a weak spot and if they can cover for that split second longer that gives the pass rush that bit extra time to get to the QB.

I expect us to stand pat.

Hard to answer that without knowing who the player would be. And I may be in the minority but I don't want to trade for either.

Edge!!

The issue is that you have to get a player who is a perfect scheme fit who is considerably better than who we have. Because it takes time to build chemistry and learn the system. It generally hasn't worked well in the past but there are a few exceptions.

everyone loves talking trades, but truth is - the roster is good enough to repeat. they just need to get healthy and play cleaner football.

THIS

It would really depend on the player and what we were to give up. But I don't really see a difference-maker being available and I definitely don't want to give up a quality draft pick for a mediocre/unknown player who may not even be on the team next year.

I want Oline. Though I don't think we could trade for someone and we'd have to wait until draft but Oline is what I want most

Neither.

We have Nolan Smith coming back and just signed BG back. Ringo seems to be improving and we have Bennett coming off IR. Mid season trades rarely work out - especially for a defensive player in Vic's system (Vic would really need to like the guy and even then, would likely take weeks before getting significant playing time because Vic doesn't play guys who don't know his system).

The only significant move I would make would be signing CJGJ - which would cost us NOTHING. That would give the team flexibility (CJGJ could play slot - allowing Cooper DeJean to play outside) plus, it would add depth to the secondary with a guy who already knows Vic's system.

A 2nd TE that can actually block or an edge.

Still think jakorian bennett has promise at CB2 when he gets healthy after the bye

Not sure about Ringo, hes been better but I still dont Trust him

Interesting that there are many people who think there's no need for a trade. I agree.

Having such a complete team like last year is almost impossible. You have to win despite some holes.

If there's a cheap veteran or a trade that doesn't hinder the team in the future, then I'm on board. Otherwise, let the young guys develop. Let the coaching staff be creative.

I 100% disagree with this. The OLine, the Depth on the team, the diva WR, the Defense and their holes, IMO, does not garner a SB Repeat. It's just too difficult.

Being that Vic doesn't like in season trades because they don't usually work out and take to much time to get acclimated to his scheme I don't think they make a move on defense.

A lot of people will be disappointed if Howie doesn't make any big moves, or if the one trade he does is on the level of his recent trade deadline moves. He already made 2 trades this season for Bennett and Bigsby, who was only after the 1st game so closer to training camp than trade deadline.

As a reminder, his previous trade deadline moves since Ajayi:

2018: WR Golden Tate (2019 3rd round pick)

2019: DE Genard Avery (2021 4th round pick).

2019: LB Duke Riley and a 2020 6th-round pick (from Atlanta in exchange for S Johnathan Cyprien and a 2020 7th-round pick.)

2021: CB Tay Gowan and a 2022 fifth-round pick (from Arizona in exchange for TE Zach Ertz). DB Kary Vincent (2022 6th-round pick).

2022: DE Robert Quinn (2024 4th round pick)

2023: S Kevin Byard (S Terrell Edmunds, a 2024 4th and 6th round picks).

I could see a corner but will it be a scrub like the guys on the list above? Or someone worthwhile?

I think they went into this season knowing they'd take a step back at certain positions, while improving at others and planning for the contracts they're going to have to give to their young stars on defense. Campbell and Mukuba growing as rookies, Nolan Smith will be back from injury, we'll see what BG has left in the tank. Young players improving in their increased roles like Hunt and Ojomo. The O line is finally getting healthy and the run game finally broke out.

The team is good enough to win another Super Bowl, the rest of the league isn't great. The top teams are all pretty close and the Eagles are still among the top teams. Don't make a desperate move to lose draft capital. If there's someone that makes sense, fine. But work with what you have this year, add more talent this offseason with those draft picks and continue competing for a SB.

Corner, but I think we are stuck with what we've got there. Edge would be second for me and I do think there is a decent chance they trade for one. Smith, Chubb, Hunt, and BG would all of a sudden turn what has been a weakness into a strength and it certainly can't hurt the issues in the secondary if the pass rush is better.

Dolphins play Thursday so if anything is happening with them it will probably be after

Someone needs to send this trade deadline summary to Howie to serve as a reminder in case his trigger finger is getting itchy to swing a deal!

We have more resources at EDGE. BG, Hunt, N. Smith, Aziz, Uche, Campbell, than at CB.

CB. Dont let Ringo's play on Sunday fool you. I dont think Bennett is the answer either. If Howie brings in a corner, I want it for someone who's gonna stay here for many years. Dline should be getting back reinforcements after rhe bye.

I can't really see either happening. We aren't going to get a significant upgrade in either position without giving up a great deal, and trades are never guaranteed to work out.

That said, if there is a move coming I would prefer edge. You simply can't have enough good pass rushers and an effective rush will help the secondary.

I’m completely with you on this Bud! Bring in a CB who can be here for many years and really solidify that CB room with Q and DeJean. I’m okay with him giving up reasonable (perhaps not top) picks to bring in a longer term stable CB.

Team needs a CB or at least Edge rusher. Even a solid veteran Safety in place of Makuba. Eagles will be facing way too many good offenses during the season and playoffs to keep half the secondary a disaster. You will also be asking Hurts to sling it out every week and hes not that type of QB. Nor is it for certain that the O-line is back to its Elite level.
