I appreciate the clips circling the player. Too many highlight reels are edited with no pre-snap time, just jump to the play. With players lining up at different positions, different camera angles and such, your eyes are looking for the player. If you want to look at what happened pre-snap (such as motion) and then settle into what the player did, you miss things. Plus, the new jersey numbers are dumb. It was so much easier before to tell who was who because numbers meant your position group.

So the Commanders went "all in" signing the oldest players possible, and have injuries that also now include their young QB. The Giants were never going to do much, are growing with their young QB Dart who should be good, and unfortunately lost Skatebo. That's awful, hate seeing any player hurt. But they were in rebuild mode and will regroup for next season. The Cowboys are the Cowboys.

Eagles will repeat as division winners and should own the division for awhile.

I'm not sure Smith is back for GB. We've heard nothing about him

He’s been saying on social media he would be back

I could imagine Fangio doing something like that with him at times.

Can you imagine him going inside and having JC going outside on some guaranteed passing downs. Watch out. lol

We’ve done it in the past with BG. So i wouldn’t be shocked if we tried to with Phillips

Over the course of 2 weeks, the Eagles will technically be adding 6 players to the active roster.

BG, Jaelan Phillips, Michael Carter Jr, Jaire Alexander, Nolan Smith and Jackorian Bennett.

Marcus Epps and Aziz Ojulari have both been put on IR, so 2 spots freed up. Let's call those even Steven moves made for Alexander and Carter.

4 more moves have to be made.

You have to think one of Patrick Johnson or Josh Uche are the odd man out.

AJ Dillon, appreciate you rolling up on the back of the OL's legs, but Bigsby and Shipley have RB2/3 taken care of.

Adoree Jackson, time to go. Kelee Ringo is still young and offers ST value. Ringo is safe.

Could we see Sam Howell moved?

Kyler Granson can go. Much prefer Latu as TE3/FB/ST ace.

So my 4 moves. AJ Dillon and Kyler Granson are no brainers to me.

I'm listening to any offer for Sam Howell. They gave up a 5th and 7th for Howell and a 6th. Can they get a 5th straight up?

Adoree Jackson is the 4th. No room for him now and he offers nothing as far as upside. Free up that #8.

You are forgetting they already let Nickerson go. And they traded Metchie for Carter. So they just need 2 roster moves.

He hasn’t been the same is loaded. He’s only a little over year now from the injury and he essentially has all 3 sacks since the year mark so you could argue he has been the same in the last few weeks

That first giants game still pisses me off. We would be 7-1 with a 6-0 conference record putting us 2 games up on the rest of the conference, and an opportunity to grt the tie breaker over the Packers and lions.

Oh well, just beat those two after the bye and it puts us in a really really good spot.

Agreed. It was a frustrating loss, but even with it, our Conference record is better than all the other 2 loss NFC teams, so we have that tie breaker as well as the head to head tiebreaker with the Rams and Bucs

I believe they got a sixth back in both the Metchie and Howell trades.

One was traded for Bigsby, the second is now gone for Jaire.

They now have no sixth round picks

Thanks. That clears up that confusion on my part.

So the Eagles moved into the #1 Seed without playing and strengthen their Defense with three new players. Great Bye Week.

I’m just curious how Vic makes it work with all these moving pieces. Three new guys added by trade, BG unretiring, and presumably a starting DE and CB coming off IR all at the same time in the middle of the season seems like a lot. Obviously some of these guys will just be depth, but it’s a pretty big roster reshuffling.

Also curious what happens with Campbell now. There’s enough guys, and he wasn’t that good at it anyway, that he shouldn’t be lining up at edge anymore. Does he take his job back from Dean or does Dean keep taking his snaps?

Vic preparing for his next press conference like:

73e020f56c4a86221823bc32113b4316d2-25-be

So this is where having an experienced DC really helps. Having a process and routine for practice and evaluating players. Vic isn't going to let emotion or nostalgia affect things, he isn't going to panic. He's going to evaluate these guys in practice, rely on his talented and experienced coaching staff and they will see how these guys fit in. Based on what he's said in prior press conferences, he will not rush to get anyone playing time until he thinks they're ready. Even then, it might be limited snaps at first. And coaches always say that it depends on the packages they're in compared to the situation and what the other team is running and all those factors. Again, I'm very thankful to have an experienced DC who knows what he's doing. But yes, it's a lot of change at once in mid-season. IMO these aren't moves that are necessarily for the Packers game, but just for the rest of the season. If anyone gets playing time against the Packers that's great but it might be a two week practice window to really get the new guys acclimated.

But my early guess:

  • Michael Carter II: will sit as a backup, practice and learn for when he's needed

  • Alexander: may see more snaps than anyone depending on injury status (what's Bennett's status?). He hasn't played recently for the Ravens either as a healthy scratch so Vic may not see him as game ready yet. But with injuries he may need to play some. Ringo probably still starts.

  • Nolan Smith: is he officially back? If he's healthy and ready, he starts but they will rotate to keep him fresh.

  • Brandon Graham: I would guess very limited snaps if at all. But we have no idea what kind of shape he's in.

  • Jaelen Phillips: probably the easiest to plug in to play right away given he's been playing recently and knows Vic's system. If Nolan Smith isn't back, he may even be the starter and get a lot of snaps. If Smith starts, Phillips will get a lot of snaps in rotation.

One potential positive is chess pieces to move around. As you said with Campbell and Dean, how does he handle that? Can you believe we actually have "problem" with too many good LBs now? Crazy. Vic will now be the one putting in late nights to sort it out.

Giants had banks and adoree on that team in 2024 lol

The teams that make no trades won’t overpay. Those GMs can take solace in that for the limited time they still have their jobs

Just keeps getting better

Wonder if Howie is done. Not necessarily in acquiring guys but maybe trading guys away.

I don't know if anyone really wants our scraps that he'll have to cut anyway to make roster space, when they can just sign them afterward. Even if so, you're talking maybe a 7th round pick.

Might be able to get a 7 for AJ Dillon or Adore or a 6-7 swap

So who would you have traded for and at what cost? Just curious.....

No one

Doing a thing just to do a thing is activity not progress

Most of these trades aren't big splashes, but for depth and rotation. Of course Tank Bigsby having the game he did was huge, hopefully he can continue getting a lot more carries. Closing out games, keeping Barkley fresh and no injury risk is an advantage.

By season's end, if Phillips is working out nicely in the rotation and Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt are playing well then you don't have as much an urgent need for drafting an Edge, although I'd still like to see them draft one to add to the mix. I don't see Carter or Alexander being anything more than depth and band-aid, and I hope they draft a corner high next year to be a day 1 starter (similar to Mukuba, won't be a stud like Mitchell but can hold down the CB2 spot and grow into it). Because they also need to be drafting O line and TE. So if Phillips works out, they can draft an Edge in the 3rd round or later without as much pressure.

Need to corner the market on those 2027 7th-round picks.

I know who wrote this article before I even clicked it.

"Don't look at a replay of it. Ever."

Hyperbole much? I mean it looked bad(dislocations always do) but you'd think Jayden Daniels was splattered by a fallen airplane projectile like in a Final Destination movie.

Would only come from a DC area writer.
