Posted Monday at 11:55 AM3 days Looking back at Howie Roseman's history of in-season tradesWith the 2025 NFL trade deadline looming, here's a look back at Howie Roseman's in-season trade history.By Dave Zangaro • Published October 30, 2025The NFL’s trade deadline is Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. and Howie Roseman is always willing to pick up his phone. While Roseman hasn’t made an in-season trade every year as the Eagles’ general manager, he has made plenty of them since taking that position in 2010. They have had varying degrees of success. He made one on Wednesday to bring in CB Michael Carter. But that doesn't mean Roseman is finished ahead of this deadline. He could still look to bolster the roster of a team trying to repeat as Super Bowl champions. Here’s a look back at Roseman’s history of in-season trades:2023: Oct. 23 — Acquired S Kevin Byard from Titans for Terrell Edmunds, a 2024 fifth-round pick and 2024 sixth-round pickThe Eagles defense in 2023 needed a lot more than a veteran safety added to the mix. Eventually, the Eagles turned over the keys to Matt Patricia as DC and the wheels fell off. It was a shame because Byard, since leaving Philly, has shown that he is still a good player. He started every game for the Bears last season and had 130 tackles, 2 sacks, an interception and 7 pass breakups. And in 2025, he has 4 interceptions in just 7 games.2023: Oct. 30 — Traded Kentavius Street and conditional 2025 pick (not conveyed) to Falcons for 2025 seventh-round pickThe Eagles traded Street to Atlanta after the Falcons lost Grady Jarrett for the season to an ACL tear. The Eagles obviously felt good about their DT depth at the time. Street started the first five games after the trade but then suffered a pectoral injury. He played in 13 games for them in 2024.2022: Oct. 26 — Acquired DE Robert Quinn from Bears for a 2023 fourth-round pick to Bears for Robert QuinnAt the time, this seemed like a great trade for the Eagles. After all, Quinn had 18 1/2 sacks with the Bears in 2021 and made his third Pro Bowl team. But Quinn very clearly wasn’t that player anymore. He played in six regular season games and three playoffs games with the Eagles and didn’t record a sack. (He also had an IR stint late in the season.) That was the end of his NFL career. The Bears used that fourth-round pick on receiver Tyler Scott out of Cincinnati; Scott played in 28 games in two NFL seasons and had 18 catches for 173 yards.2021: Nov. 2 — Acquired CB Kary Vincent Jr. from Broncos for 2022 sixth-round pickAfter getting to Philly, Vincent played in 2 games and started 1 for the Eagles. The former seventh-round pick from LSU was waived the following August at final cuts.2021: Oct. 26 — Traded Joe Flacco to Jets for 2022 sixth-round pickThe Eagles brought in Gardner Minshew in late August that season so once he got caught up to speed, the Eagles thought Flacco was expendable. So they shipped him to the Jets. Minshew ended up starting two games that season and went 1-1 with a win over the Jets and a loss to the Cowboys in Week 18. Minshew started two games in 2022 and lost to the Cowboys and the Saints. Flacco is now with the Bengals at age 40.2021: Oct. 15 — Traded Zach Ertz to Cardinals for Tay Gowan and 2022 fifth-round pickErtz played the first six games of the 2021 season with the Eagles after an offseason of speculation. In a way, it was surprising that Ertz even played for the Eagles at all in 2021. Ertz ended up playing in 28 games over three seasons with the Cardinals. He has been with the Commanders since the start of the 2024 season and has started every game for them. Gowan played in two games for the Eagles in 2021.2019: Oct. 28 — Acquired DE Genard Avery from Browns for 2021 fourth-round pickThe Eagles were excited to bring in Avery, who was in the middle of his second season with the Browns after having 4 1/2 sacks as a rookie. But over the next 2 1/2 season with the Eagles, Avery played in 35 games with 12 starts and had a total of just 3 sacks and 10 QB hits. In 2021, Avery actually started 12 games with the Eagles and had a career-high 43 tackles. After leaving the Eagles, Avery signed with the Steelers but didn’t make that team in 2022. He ended up playing in nine games for the Bucs that year and one game for the Colts in 2024 and hasn’t played in the league since. The Browns used that fourth-round pick to draft OT James Hudson, who played in 49 games and started 17 in his four years in Cleveland.Sept. 30, 2019 — Acquired LB Duke Riley and 2020 sixth-round pick from Falcons for S Johnathan Cyprien and 2020 seventh-round pickYou probably forgot Cyprien was an Eagle but he was! And he was expendable early in that 2019 season so they shipped him to the Falcons for Riley, who became a good special teamer for the Eagles the rest of that season. Riley was back in 2020 and you probably erased the 2020 season from your memory but Riley played 568 (!) defensive snaps for the Eagles that year.Oct. 30, 2018 — Acquired WR Golden Tate from Lions for 2019 third-round pickThe Eagles were coming off their first Super Bowl victory and needed a little extra oomph in their offense so they parted with a third-round pick to bring in Tate. Even thought Tate did catch a touchdown pass in the playoffs (when he didn’t know the play) it’s hard to consider this one a rousing success. In eight games with the Eagles, Tate caught just 30 passes for 278 yards and a touchdown and in two playoff games had 7 for 64 and a score. But even then-OC Mike Groh admitted it was difficult to integrate Tate to the offense. Tate played two more NFL seasons with the Giants with his last season coming in 2020. That third-rounder ended up with the Seattle Seahawks, who drafted OLB Cody Barton with the No. 88 overall pick.Oct. 31, 2017 — Acquired RB Jay Ajayi from Dolphins for 2018 fourth-round pickThis one worked. The Eagles brought in Ajayi in the middle of the Super Bowl season and he did give a boost to that offense. In seven games after the trade, Ajayi rushed for 408 yards on 70 attempts (5.8) and added another 184 yards in the playoffs. He helped the Eagles win their first Super Bowl in franchise history. After that season, Ajayi’s body broke down and he played in just seven more NFL games. That fourth-round pick ended up being RB Kalen Ballage, who played two seasons with the Dolphins.Oct. 29, 2013 — Traded DT Isaac Sopoaga and 2024 sixth-round pick to Patriots for 2014 fifth-round pickThe Eagles traded Sopoaga to the Patriots and went forward with rookie Bennie Logan as their starting nose tackle the rest of the season. Logan ended up starting 51 games in four seasons with the Eagles, while Sopoaga played in 6 games with the Patriots — 2013 was his final NFL season. The Eagles used that fifth-round pick in a trade to get Darren Sproles from the Saints. Sproles was a Pro Bowler the next three seasons in Philly as a return man.Oct. 13, 2010 — Acquired RB Jerome Harrison to Browns for RB Mike BellA rare player-for-player trade. Harrison after joining the Eagles had 40 rushing attempts for 239 yards and a touchdown. The next season, the Eagles tried to trade Ronnie Brown to the Browns for Harrison but a physical revealed that Harrison had a brain tumor.https://www.nbcsportsphiladelphia.com/nfl/philadelphia-eagles/looking-back-at-howie-rosemans-history-of-in-season-trades/692467/
