I know we rotate our DEs and will continue to do so but… if healthy do we think he’s a starter? I think he probably is right?

Well we operate a heavy rotation but yes I would expect him to start and play 50/60% of the snaps. He’s good against the run as well which we need. Good pickup.

Bear in mind that Fangio runs mixed fronts and DE isn’t really a part of the equation in this defense. I think it’s safe to assume that he won’t start next week, but never assume as they say. Realistically, he should supplant Uche as the edge opposite Hunt, but when Nolan returns, I think he would be the next guy up in the rotation.

Fangio runs a lot of 5-2 (3-4) on early and running downs, but I would estimate that we’re in Nickel and Penny more than the 5-2.

Yes

Nice deal. He'll pair well with Myles Garret on the other side.

I think Hunt and Smith will still be the "starters", but Phillips will be the 3rd guy and play a decent amount of snaps. (this is assuming Smith is ready to return this week)

I don't think people even understand what kind of genius Howie is, other teams playing checkers and he's playing a 3 level chess game against 31 other people and they don't even know the rules of the game!!

Even if we let him walk we're gonna recoup that 3rd round pick in 2 years?

It's not that easy getting a third round pick. Don't think Phillips will warrant that kind of money to get the Eagles a third round pick. Sweat will only get the Eagles a 4th round pick if I'm not mistaken. We'll see.

Get 4-7 sacks and I'm happy!

FYP 😉

Hopefully, he stays healthy. Arguably, he might be the best edge rusher we have now.

Had 6.5 sacks in those 8 games. If he can stay healthy he is a big upgrade

Just pointing out injury history.

Guess you can't have to many jaelans

Time to bring back Reagor?

unsure

This move might have just won us another Lombardi. Stats do not tell the whole story. He's a borderline elite pass rusher who compares a lot more favorably to Micah Parsons than people might think.

Spent a 3rd for an oft injured player. Great deal

I think Howie views this as 3rd for Phillips and a 5th/6th.

Not sure if with his injury history he gets a huge contract that nets us a 3rd. More likely a 5th

There was no way the Eagles were going to give up multiple first round picks to get Garrett so at least Howie got someone with some upside to pressure the QB. My only concern is I hope Phillips can stay healthy so he can contribute.

Jalen Ramsey loading…….

I don't want him to get all of his production in just one game! Space those sacks out! Especially against the Offenses of the Lions, Cowpigs, and Chargers.

I swear to God if I see Dakota Prescott throw for like 275 - 350 yards and 3 TDs against our D in the next Cowsluts game, I will strangle someone!

I was never on the Miles Garrett trade bandwagon, so this isn’t disappointment off that speaking…

I think this trade is a lopsided loss for the Eagles. This guy is a huge injury red flag, still hasn’t recovered his burst, is a half season rental, isn’t that good in the first place, and cost a 3rd round pick.

I think he will seamlessly fit into the long line of Howie’s do-nothing-deadline deals.

Damn, dude. Down with the bad vibes, LFG!!!!

Big risk in my opinion. At least it wasn't the Jet's 3rd round pick, that would have just been bad. IF he plays well and re-signs and continues to play well and stay relatively healthy it's a good move. If he doesn't play well, or even if he does and ends up being a rental it's a definite overpayment. I like the player a little bit but think the risk is too high to have given up a 3rd.

We’re defending champs. We shouldn’t operate like a team planning long term, our window is now.

He could be a Josh Sweat type and get 8-10 sacks a season for this team for the next few years or he could be a rental that doesnt work out. The potenrial range of outcomes for this is all over the place. I think a 4th for him/that was more than fair but at least it was our 3rd and we still have the Jets 3rd and the comp pick 3rd.

He has more upside than Josh Sweat. I'm for it even if it's just a rental. I would have probably given up a second.
