Eagles Trade for EDGE Jaelen Phillips (Dolphins)

Featured Replies

Phillips is making himself a lot of money so far for the Eagles. He's been delivering and the two guys in the middle are looking even more dominant, and Ojomo has been solid all season too. Suddenly this defense looks elite level.

If his play keeps up, he'll make a lot of money in the offseason. However, he does play well under Fangio, he's a great fit, and he seems to be enjoying his time in Philly. So, maybe he won't be as expensive for the Eagles? Howie will have to make decisions, it will be impossible to keep Reed, Dean, Davis and Phillips this offseason.

If I had to guess, Reed will be extended; let Davis play the final year of his contract; Dean becomes a FA; Phillips gets a 3-year extension (or the franchise tag).

I'd be surprised if he doesn't go towards the money and I wouldn't blame him

Long way to go, but I think a 1 year deal probably makes sense for JP and the Eagles. Gives JP the opportunity for a full contract year under Fangio to maximise his value and he is still young. Gives Eagles an extra year to consider who they want to/can keep out of Davis, Carter, Nolan Smith and JP.

With JP injury history if he gets offered more than a year I think he takes it without hesitation. Although with his injury history he might only get 1 year prove it deals.

He was invisible today. But can’t do much when the offensive line holds ever play.
