Well at least you acknowledge the drug excuse is complete BS. There's some truth to the geopolitical Russia angle just not the way you're framing it. He roots for Russia in Ukraine and actively helps Putin by sitting on his hands. He prefers a might is right global order that would then excuse him doing a similar incursion into Venezuela. It's not to dissuade Putin, it's so he can emulate him.
