So I’ve heard a few reports that say his season is likely done? I know that’s not what the team have said but apparently this isn’t an injury that will be okay to go in 4-6 weeks.

That type of injury has 3 grades to it. He has a slight chance to be out 4-6 weeks. The other two grades- not good at all.

Fans seem to get a little paranoid when it comes to injuries. Even Maddox with all his pro injury history has still been available for 71% of his teams' regular season games and 85% of their playoff games. This is Lane's 13th season in the NFL. He's had some injuries. His first ankle injury didn't heal fully and that lingered into the following season, but he really hasn't missed an abnormal amount of time even when you factor in the 14 total games he missed due to suspensions and a couple more regular season pre-playoff rest games.

It could be a blessing in disguise. If Eagles hold their own in his absence and Lane's lisfranc sprain heals up, gives him until the playoffs in January to fully heal up this, and other ailments of his. A fresh, healed LJ can be a monster and a difference maker in the playoffs. Eagles employed a similar approach with Hurts last year after his concussion in Washington.

What we are reading and what is really going on with his foot are likely two different things.

McLane was reporting that as a possibility that this may be more than a 4-6 week thing. It’s still a Lisfranc but the severity is unknown … they need to x-ray but are unable to do so until the swelling goes down. Once they can x-ray then they will know if surgery is needed, which would obviously push that recovery time out longer.

I don't put much stock into McLane reports. Would not be surprised if the team is not feeding us the real deal. Could be that they just want to hold out LJ for the rest of the season and get him fresh for the playoffs.

There are a few things we could ding Howie on. Not already having Lane's replacement waiting in the wings is one of them. Perhaps they should've kept Becton and moved him back outside once Lane retired.

Becton sucked with the Jets, and now, without Jeff Stoutland, he sucks once more. Maybe he wouldn’t have fallen off if he’d stayed with the Eagles. There’s definitely a difference in Saquon’s game this year, and some of that is no Becton playing effectively.

So I'm gonna guess that the O won't do much of the 6 OLineman plays? That's when Fred was out there.

I thought Becton was hurt and missed quite a few games with the Chargers? Can't really say that he sucked.

Maybe not as much, but they will also do it with Pryor coming in. That said, I wonder if they will activate Willie Lampkin to the roster with the "heavy OL" thing in mind.

Don't know if there is a veteran "on the street" but said veteran couldn't be worse than Pryor at OT. Hinton really didn't show much in training camp and I can't imagine he would be an option. I would be open to a veteran (don't ask me names) as long as the vet isn't named Jack Driscoll.

Any OT still out there would almost have to be much worse than Pryor. That said, Jedrick Wills is still out there but there's some question about his knee. He could be one of those sneaky late season signings by Howie in anticipation for next year.

Let's just hope we don't have to find out who would start at RT beyond Fred Johnson this year.

You need an extra body for depth. Suppose Mailata or Fred Johnson go down?

There should be a roster spot opening ... can't imagine they don't place Lane on IR with a designation to return (kinda surprised they haven't done so yet unless you are limited to a certain number of players you can do that with in a given season and they either reached the limit or are close).

Had to look that up...apparently NFL teams can designate 8 players to return from IR during the regular season and 2 more in the playoffs. I'm sure Lane will be on IR before Sunday. I just hope it's not season-ending and he has to get surgery.

Stoutland could've kept him going.

Sometimes injuries force other guys to have to move around. While I would expect the Eagles to bring back Opeta to the PS and he has started games for us at OT early in his career, I really don't think Pryor is a disaster waiting to happen. He did have a bad game for us coming in cold in week 3, but I doubt that would happen again. He'd still be coming in cold right now, but he should be more prepared for playing OT this next time around. We also have other guys that can play OT if need be. Dickerson can bounce outside, as could Steen. Toth is already filling in at center at the moment, but he's also depth at OT when available. Dickerson could slide in at C and Toth can move out. There's a lot of versatility on this team and options they can use if bad things happen.

We don't know how ready the young guys are, but if healthy, their numbers could be called and they just might be able to fill in capably. The main thing is to avoid having 5 backups in at the same time because of injuries. That's when things get really ugly.

Anyway, Jurgens' latest injury was a concussion, so he will likely be back at least after this next game if not cleared this week. As of right now, Mailata and Fred Johnson are good to go. There's no reason to panic about things that haven't happened. Could one of them get hurt? Sure, but so can the entire team theoretically. Backups are trained to play. Sometimes they have to. That's how they get tested.

0-2 without Lane. Disappointing play on both sides of ball against da bears.

With his age getting up there, him always hurt, time to replace him. Obviously among others on that oline.I'd probably only keep Mailata and IR dickerson to get better for next seaso.. dump steen, cam, and that other guy.

I love Lane, but he might need to hang it up. Can't stay healthy.

They don’t have a replacement. They groomed Kelce’s replacement, but nothing for Lane so far.

0-3 without Lane. There's a pattern developing here.

Have him sit out the rest of the way this season. The way this team is playing, there's no sense bringing him back. Get him 100% for next season, which is likely his last.

Eagles are 120-62-1 in the 183 games he has played, a win percentage of .656. In the 42 games without him, the Eagles now are 15-27, a win percentage of .357.

Crazy how a RT can affect an O.

In the next draft we should get at least 3-4 lineman to groom. Hopefully several will pan out.

Maybe that's what is happening with some of our recent late round OL picks. That process doesn't happen overnight.
