Does Barkley get an unfair pass for the Eagles failings

I think Saquon is great. Comes across really well as well. Had an amazing season last year.

But I kind of feel he gets an unfair pass whereas for the offense failings.

I see what you see - the o line struggling and the predictable play calling.

But we are also paying him to be a top 5 back. He also needs to do more or we need to get Bigsby a lot more involved.

Even if the line was playing better Barkley would most likely still struggle they ran his ass into the ground last year. Anyone that thought he wasn't going to struggle this year with a good line or not was setting themselves up for disappointment this season with him.

Blame Game Russian Roulette lands on Barkley this week.

I feel like there's plenty of blame to go around for the offensive woes this year... I'm not excluding Barkley... Bigsby should be getting carries as well it blows my mind they don't get him involved at all

He's at 2.4yds before contact per attempt for 12 games this season

Last year for 12 games he was 3.9yds before contact

He seems to be getting whacked in the Offensive backfield this season, a lot. Also seems to be "dancing" more, as opposed to just smashing forward with any momentum.

The dude had like 450 touches last year. That could be a reason why he's so ineffective this season??

Oh yeah, the OLine stinks to high heaven too. 🤣 Stoutland U has been Stoutland Community College. He needs to bear some blame as well as KP.

You answered your own question... Doesn't matter what RB we have back there with this poor oline play. The Bears run game looked like ours did last season. The RB not getting touched till he's 5 yards passed the los. If Saquon had that luxury,( like he did last season), he would be close to the same production. Why does Tank look better sometimes? Bc Tank is the last thing on the other teams mind.

100% agreed. Oline coach + run game coordinator.

I did notice a lack of elusiveness compared to last year, like a run that would have gone for 40+ yards last year would only go for 15 because he zigged when he should have zagged or he just couldn't elude the tackler. But it's a bit unfair to judge him on such a small sample size, I think I can count on one finger the number of time he was able to get into the open field this year due to the **** oline play.

Jimmy Kempski and Jeff McLane are both reporting that Hurts has asked to run less this year because the designed runs have taken their toll on him. I get it, but without designed runs, the whole offense falls apart. The defense can key on Barkley in such case, where last year, the defense was kept guessing. If Hurts is no longer a running QB, his effectiveness plummets and the whole offense suffers.

Madden curse!

So has Brown said anything after these losses? He sure seems quiet all of a sudden.

Yeah they are trying to turn Hurts into a traditional pocket passer and it's exposing his limitations...

In the last two games (both losses), we have attempted 73 passes and also were sacked once. Including Jalen Hurts, we have a total of 35 rushing attempts (only 24 by RBs). And people think Bigsby getting 6-8 carries per game is the answer. Barkley had 13-56 last week. This is the stuff that Andy Reid used to do --- abandon the run to work on those passing stats.

The bears had the ball for almost 20 more minutes than us and our defense saw players celebrating 1st down stops. Probably a bad look when you are allowing a team to get 28 first downs on you or rush for 281 yards against you.

This team wins as a team or loses as a team. I see no reason for individual finger pointing. When we win, there's no standout MVP either. Not turning the ball over seems to make a pretty big difference.

He’s definitely getting a pass but I also think he deserves the pass. He carried us last year and now he’s doing what every running back does that has 400+ touches. Having an awful year the next year.

There is plenty of blame at all levels. Coaching, players, scheme, injuries, and penalties.

The designed runs up the middle were never smart. We've screamed for that to stop. Designed runs to the outside though should work. Go out of bounds or slide feet first early and often

Gotta slightly disagree, Mike.

In the past, yup, Hurts outside runs worked. He seemed leaner, quicker, and decisive. Lately, IMO, he's much more efficient with his inside runs.

When he runs to the outside, to me, he looks like he's wearing ankle weights. S.L.O.W.

I like whe he takes off and runs up the middle for 4-6 yards, and THEN gets to the outside for a few more yards.

I feel like that when AJ gets "his", he pretty much shuts his donkey mouth. Even though it seems like Eagles lose the games this season when he gets forced fed the ball. 🤪

Those inside runs are more dangerous though. Plus he doesn't have the Oline for those inside runs. Same with Barkley

As long as he gets his he’s good.

Tank is averaging 9 YPC this season. Give the defense more things to worry about. The Bears, Falcons, and Lions all do it effectively.

He's actually averaging 4.7 ypc as he had 5 attempts for 12 yards before the trade. Tank's best game came against the giants when he had 9 carries for 104 yards --- The same game Barkley went 14-150-1. Seven of his 9 carries came in the 4th quarter after Barkley left with a hamstring strain. One of those carries was a 29 yard run on a 2nd and 26 following a 16 yard sack on Hurts.

So let's not get too carried away with his small sample ypc average. Dotson is averaging 18.7 yards per reception, Smith 13.4 and Brown 12.5. I think we know who our best 2 WRs are and we don't want them getting less touches. That's how I feel about Barkley. I like Bigsby as the RB2, but I want Barkley getting more carries than he currently is, not less.

You can make a case for those other teams if you like, but which team was more effective last season?

I stopped reading after the first sentence because you are obviously showing lack of intelligence. You are really comparing 4.7ypc vs 9.1ypc when he wasn’t even an Eagle those games. Guess what, either number you chose is twice of what Saquon is getting.

You are literally making my point of Tank needing more carries if his YPC has doubled since an Eagle.
