I call BS. I've hear horror stories about Boston and Maryland/Virgina. Obviously anywhere in California . I've never had trouble driving through Philly.

LA has been so nice traffic wise during covid.   But it’s slowly going back to normal.  I cant see anything anywhere being worse than the 405 fwy

Is reading number 1?

Long Island Expressway.  Worst road I've ever driven on.  Basically a slow moving parking lot.  Did it once and never again.

I hear Boston is a nightmare and the Beltway around Baltimore/DC.  Did that once, too, and it sucked big time.  I've heard LA is also bad.

I don't think the areas around Philly are really bad.  They're not great, but not awful.  Driving in the city because the streets are so F'ing small (basically as they were in the late 1700s except with asphalt replacing dirt and cars replacing buggies) is a royal pain in the arse and the parking sucks.  The PPA is one of the most corrupt gov't entities in the country.

I have found the DC Beltway to actually be better now, at least on the eastern half.

The bad traffic in the DC area is I-95 south of Alexandria.  That place near Quantico where the 3 HOV lanes merge with the 3 regular lanes is always a mess.

I-95 in Connecticut is also bad.  I can't think of a time in the last 15 years when I-95 between New Haven and Milford was moving smoothly.  Bridgeport and Stamford are terrible too.

A few more One Way Streets and it's in the bag!

I don't know how Philly beat out LA and DC. NYC is one big traffic jam. Boston is a mess because there is no grid plan. You start in one direction, then the whole grid changes direction. You don't know where you end up. And there is no leeway for pedestrians, you take your life into your own hands walking around the city.

Philly has its bad traffic areas, the Schuylkill isn't called Surekill for nothing. But it's just as easy to avoid it and find another route. In NYC, for instance, you try to avoid one traffic jam only to wind up sitting in another. Parking in Philly is a big pain, though.

Don't forget Chicago, Houston and Denver is getting crowded.

New Jersey in certain parts are a complete nightmare too. Only trouble I've ever really had in Philly was getting in and out of the city were for Eagles games

I don't think we can clinch the top spot without some traffic circles.

At times in the pros and cons of #1, being lonely at the top not worth it!
