Posted December 14, 2025Dec 14 Enough with that. If anything, it's 2018. They might not make it back to the Super Bowl, but they'll go down swinging.2023 imploded because Sirianni panicked and fired the DC after two bad games against elite offenses. What was an average defense under Sean Desai became the worst unit in football under Patricia. They lost to a 3-12 Cardinals team at home despite putting up 31 points. Then the next week they lost AJ in a meaningless game because things were so disastrous, Sirianni thought they needed to get their confidence back against a 5-11 Giants team. Instead they were down 24-0 at halftime and had to pull the starters.2023 was a decent enough offense at full strength. Frustrating, but good enough most days when the defense was performing competently. They didn't.This team is a much different. They have one of the best defensive coordinators of all-time rather than a retread slob. They have two phenomenal linebackers instead of the barrel scraping dreg they put out there that season. They have two excellent young corners instead of a washed up James Bradberry and Avonte Maddox. They have the youngest defense in the league rather than the oldest.Keep in mind that they've been without Lane Johnson since the first quarter of the Detroit game. Have you seen the difference in their record with him vs. without him? I think everyone and their mother has. Keep in mind that they've lost three close games to good teams. They didn't lose two games by a combined 43 points and then follow that up by letting Drew Lock drive 90 yards in two minutes with no timeouts to hand them a third straight L. Keep in mind that this team has played a lot of football over the last three years. They know there's no sense in emptying the fuel tank during the regular season when all they need to do is get in the dance. See the 2023 Chiefs.Clearly this team is not perfect. Show me the teams that are. We're still the champ until proven otherwise, and coach, QB, OC be damned, I still think we have the most talent in the league. Usually the best football teams win in January or at least come close enough to deliver their fans a kick to the gut. I know they're at least capable of the second thing.(Does it sound like I'm trying to convince myself?)

They found ways to lose to bad teams and I think that’s what we are seeing again this year.
December 14, 2025Dec 14 Could have just posted this in the other thread comparing this season to 2023.
December 14, 2025Dec 14 No offense, but yes it sounds like you’re trying to convince yourself. No one has said the reasoning is identical to 2023, but the inescapable reality, is the 2023 team struggled to put together a solid 4 quarters. This team struggles to put together a solid 4 quarters. The 2023 team was prone to turn over the ball. This team had been good at that until the recent 3 games. Brian Johnson gave no confidence as an OC, and Patullo, nuff said. That team went on a 3 game skid, and so has this one. Today, we’re playing a warm weather dome team with no reason to play hard on a cold temperature day. If this game is even remotely close, or even, a loss, then expect Dallas to over take us quickly and for us to miss the playoffs or at least go one and done, because all the issues existed even with Lane.
December 16, 2025Dec 16 Only true difference we have seen so far is the defense is better by a lot. That’s a big difference though.
December 16, 2025Dec 16 The 2023 Eagles had a garbage D, had to open the playoffs in Tampa, and AJ was out for that game.Their LBs were Morrow and Cunnigham.Their RBs were Swift and Gainwell.Ringo and Roby were splitting slot corner.I don't even know how to describe their 2023 DC but lets just say it was not Fangio.Id say the similarity to the 2023 Eagles is about zero.

December 16, 2025Dec 16 This is not 2023. They showed they know how to fix the issues. More under center snaps, Run, minimize penalties, limit Jalen passing to 15-25 throws. If they go back to the prior gameplan that is 100 on the coaches and unforgivable
