As of the time of this post, I'm not holding my breath on the number 2 seed. I'd be very surprised if Tanner McKee does not start the game next week. Either that, or the starters play a series or two. But next week needs to be a week of rest for the team. We saw last year how strange things can happen in the playoffs with that Washington win in Detroit. Even if Chicago snags the number 2 seed, there's no guarantee of a playoff win.

I'll be surprised if we play McKee. I expect Howell to get the start if we rest guys.

You guys are underestimating the #2 seed. It’s the difference between playing GB or one of the NFC West teams in the Wildcard round and then playing the Bears at home vs the Bears in Chicago in the 2nd round.

I understand wanting to be healthy but I would much rather play GB and then Chicago at home.

Totally disagree. The path to the SB is much, much easier as the #2 seed and it’s looking like a real possibility at this point. SF is doing their part and I’m confident a Dan Campbell team will give it their all in the final to beat Chicago.

You’re worried about the Bears? They just allowed the 9ers to score 42 points with 2:50 left in the game? Doesn’t matter if we play them are home or on the road we have a chance to win.

You must’ve missed that time we played them this year.

Besides, I’d rather play GB in the Wildcard Round than any of those NFC West teams.

to be fair we had an all world DT playing with no shoulders who couldn't even do pushups at the time. and Sydney Brown looked like a lost puppy

They had 281 rushing yards and almost doubled our TOP. Twice as many first downs. It was a complete embarrassment.

With the way Eagles offense playing the seed is very not important. I do not think Eagles will get this second seed and something tell me Rams want to play Eagles again. With this Oline, this playcalling and the inability to find solution against zone defense Eagles are probably doom against the Rams

They are not getting the second seed. The Lions, with their pathetic defense, are not going into Chicago and beating the Bears. The Bears offense is legit. The Bears have been very underrated the entire year. The Bears are the future of the NFC and will be difficult in the coming years. Look at this young offense.

Loveland-rookie

Williams-2nd year

Odunze-2nd year

Wright-3rd year

Most importantly they have a HC who knows how to use that talent unlike another team that goes without mention that also has a lot of offensive talent. Coaching matters. Look at the Lions. They were the future but lost their OC to the Bears and now the Bears are the future. And Williams is three times the QB that Goff is.

The biggest reason why the 2 seed is so important (as outlined by Roob):

Why is it so important for the Eagles to do anything possible to get the No. 2 seed and not rest players and accept the No. 3 seed? This franchise has only won five road playoff games since 1950 and only one in the last 16 years - the Double-Doink in Chicago in 2018. Think about that for a moment. They’re 5-14 in road postseason games since beating the Rams 14-0 at L.A. Coliseum in 1949. They’re 11-4 all-time in playoff games at the Linc, including five straight wins. Only the 49ers have a longer home playoff winning streak, with seven straight wins. Going back to 1991, the Eagles are 15-5 at home in the postseason and all-time they’re 20-9. As long as there’s any mathematical chance to get the conference semifinal game at the Linc you have to try. And it’s not all that far-fetched. Two Eagles wins and two Bears losses mean if the Eagles win wild-card weekend, they’ll be back at the Linc the following weekend. With the chance to host the NFC Championship Game if the No. 1 seed loses, which is exactly what happened last year.

Although I still feel getting those that are injured some extra rest to be able to play at a higher level is just as important.

And this defense has improved since then is my point.

I don't care what Roob says. We had too many close calls yesterday. And Wash is a dirty team.

We should be able to beat Wash with the backups anyway.

Edit: GB will be resting their players as they can't get better than 7. Assuming we get that #2 seed

Our seeding has nothing to do with GB. We need to beat Washington and we need the Bears to lose to Detroit. Detroit has nothing to play for other than pride, so hopefully that allows them to be loose and they take care of business. But honestly, their issue seems to be more with coaching, specifically with having lost a pretty damn good offensive mind at OC and replacing him with someone who is no where near as qualified (sound familiar???). Any given Sunday and all that, but I think the odds are against the Lions beating the Bears next Sunday.

The good thing about the lions is that their coach is stubborn.. I think he is pissed they failed and didn’t make the playoffs so weather that means going for it more on forth down or whatever I think he tries his all to put the screws to the Bears and his former OC. Hopefully the ball bounces in their favor..

honestly I think we can beat Washington with our backups we did make it down to the red zone with Tanner and the backups just the other week. Biggest thing we have going against us is we pissed them off by going for two and "running up the score” and the fact that if they win the game it would probably only cost them 1 draft position.

We either move up to the 2 seed and face GB or I think the most likely opponent is Seattle if we remain the 3 seed. In order for Seattle to drop to the 6 seed they would have to lose their finale (they play SF in SF) and the Rams would need to win out (@ Falcons tonight, host Cardinals next Sunday).

Our offense would really struggle against Seattle although I feel like we could get to Darnold, cause a couple turnovers and win that way. I’m not afraid of their offense at all. Their run game stinks and if we shadow JSN with Q, I don’t think they have much else on offense.

Who would’ve thought a 3 win Cleveland team would beat Pittsburgh who was playing for the division. Some teams have pride and I think Campbell will have them ready. Not saying they will win but they’re not rolling over.

BTW, Detroit is averaging more points per game than Chicago so your point about offense is moot. Detroit has a lot more talent on offense, Chicago has a much better offensive coach. Defensively, they both stink. Chicago gets a lot of turnovers but as we all saw last night, SF moved the ball at will against them.

Ehh yeah the 2nd seed is a pipe dream I don't understand why so many people were obsessing over it. It's not gonna matter anyway I don't think we can beat any of the NFC West teams.

All im saying is. I dont care if we're 2nd or 3rd seed. We just need rest.

We absolutely play the starters against WC. If Bears are blowing Lions out we can sit them at the half. But Lions and Campbell won’t roll over v Bears hopefully.

Green Bay without Parsons is a much better opponent than any of the West teams. We are much better at home in the playoffs (and I can see the Rams knocking off the 1 seed, which could potentially give us home field throughout)

Are we even sure that rest is going to make Cam Jurgens suddenly not suck anymore?

No not sure, but he might suck less with rest..

I am totally with you on this....not gonna matter with the way this team has played offensively this entire season....

So much for the thought that Seattle would be the most likely opponent if we remain the 3 seed. The Rams loss last night to the Falcons (any given Sunday!) means Seattle, if they were to lose next weekend to SF, would become the 5th seed. So our round 1 opponent has been narrowed down to 3 teams: GB (if we move up to the 2 seed or either SF or LA (if we remain the 3 seed).

The internet says SF holds the tiebreaker and would be number 5 seed over the rams if they both finish 12-5. So basically the rams are locked into the #6 seed and will probably rest their starters.

Looks like we lose we play the rams

We win and the Bears lose we play the packers
