The path to the Super Bowl starts with the 49ers. Game time is 4:30pm on Sunday, Jan 11th. I saw quite a few posters saying they were hoping to avoid SF in round 1. I have an extra level of dislike for them ever since the Jan 2023 NFCCG when we knocked both Purdy and Josh Johnson (yes, the same Josh Johnson that beat us yesterday!) out of the game and all of the chirping they did the entire offseason that followed. The dislike toward them grew even stronger after they whooped us the next season which was really the catalyst for the wheels falling completely off as we lost 5 of 6 to close out that season. So being the team to (**hopefully**) end their season this year would be extra gratifying. flex

A funny scenario could play out where we face all 3 of the NFCW teams in this postseason. IF we win next Sunday and GB beats CHI (and LA beats CAR), we would then face LA in the divisional round (at home!) and GB would play SEA. Should we beat LA and SEA beats GB that would set up a NFCCG between us and the Seahawks.

But one game at a time. Hopefully the gamble to rest our players (and in the process cough up the chance at the 2 seed) pays off ... that our guys are fresher and we take care of business next Sunday. Go birds! Eagle_smiley

I think they are probably the worst team in the NFC playoffs so from that point of view this is probably the best match up. Green Bay rested guys week 18 (though they are banged up) so they were the other best case.

And if we win then team I mean it’ll be so much more gratifying because man I hate that team. But equally losing to them, having our season end to those scumbags? Nah I’d have rather avoided that. I’d have rather faced any other team than the Niners for that one reason.

The distinction of worst team in the playoffs is definitely Carolina. I would certainly have rather faced GB as the 2 seed too.

Eagles vs 49ers will be a game of strength vs weakness....their offense vs our defense (strengths of each team) and our offense vs their defense (weakness of each team). Can our defense hold their offense to, say, no more than 24 points? And if we do, can our offense score enough to win?

The best, probably most realistic path to the SB for us would be beating San Fran, going on the road to play Chicago, then back home to play the Rams. I just can't see GB winning in Seattle. The only good thing about a GB win would be a divisional game at home against the winner of the Rams/Panthers (i.e., the Rams). But that would almost 100% mean we'd have to travel to Seattle for the NFCCG if we made it that far.

I think we beat the whiners

You know what you are absolutely right I completely forgot about Carolina. To be honest I’m not sure they count. They had a losing record and are only in the playoffs because every division must have a representative.

And a serious possibility to be in holidays sunday night after the game

I have feeling its gonna play out like this...

Eagles, Rams, and Chicago wins.

Then Eagles and Rams win.

NFCCG at the Linc vs Rams.

Eagles destroy whoever the AFC sends in the SB.

I am glad to see all the optimism here. But have you taken a hard look at our INCOMPETENT coaches and offense lately? The incompetence has only lasted.... ALL YEAR. As a fan, I have to join the optimistic, but I don't see this sh i tty offence suddenly doing any damage in the playoffs. Here's hoping for several miracles.

I hear you, but playoffs Jalen is built differently. I'll take him over any QB in the NFC in playoff football

One and done, baby!

I keep saying that 2026 is our year! We are the bestest in even numbered years!! groovy

Who know what team is going to show up. I expect the D to ball out. The offense.. your guess is as good as mine. I expect us the be the same offense that we have seen the last few weeks. Hopefully with a couple weeks rest Lane, Cam, and Landon can get back to form. Fingers crossed. I could see us winning handily or losing in an extremely frustrating fashion with an embarrassing offensive showing.

^^^^^

I just don't think that Cam and Landon can/will get healthy just because they had a week off. They have been crappy and injured the entire season.

Agreed. I thought this was another mistake made by Sirianni when he could have sat them both for a few weeks earlier in the season hoping to get them close to 100% come playoff time. Obviously too late now and we'll just have to roll with everyone as is.

^^^^^^^

Exactly. It's just another example of the CEO doofus HC being a doofus CEO HC.

Which is why I see them losing in the 1st round. Him and the doofus OC will cost them.

The 49ers' defense isn't that good. They're missing Bosa, Warner, and now Bethune. I was hoping the Eagles would get them in the 1st round. Of course, that doesn't mean our offense will suddenly kick things into a higher gear. But I think we match up well against the 49ers.

Sort of agree.

BUT, how is our Offense going to score? We will need, IMO, at least 26 points to win against SF.

Love our D. Hate our O.

Why would we need 26 points when the defense is holding teams to less than 15pts/game since they really started coming on strong late in the season.

I have zero faith that the offense can score more than 17 points.

I also see quite a few people criticizing the move to rest the starters yesterday. Even though we lost I still support that decision. First, while the 2 seed would have been nice, the game next weekend is much more meaningful, so having our starters as fresh as possible is huge. And point #2, the 2 biggest reasons for wanting that 2 seed seem to be (1) the Packers would be an easier opponent than SF (likely true) and (2) the 2 seed guarantees another home game in the divisional round (obviously assuming we move on after next weekend). I do think GB stands a fairly decent chance at upsetting the Bears, so if that happens and we move on, we are still hosting a home game the following weekend. Go birds! 🦅

I think the Packers were a much more difficult match up in my opinion. They have a very good defense and basically the same on offense as the niners. I don't see our defense having trouble with either but, I see our offense having more problems with the packers defense. People are just all in their feels with the niners and being afraid of losing to them but, they are pretty mediocre to bad on both sides of the ball

I'm the optimist... Bills game 1st half was the new and improved Eagles. 2nd half was the garbage Eagles hoping not to put more on film. We seen them try new things against the Raiders and Wash (1st game) that we haven't seen much of or any all year. Regardless who we played, the actual plays (motions, route trees, the use of TEs) we haven't seen.

Maybe I'm giving Siri and KP too much credit, maybe they got me fooled. But I know what I saw in those games.

This is the hope I have to hold onto through the playoffs. I care about the TEAM.... which is why I don't care about Patullo or Siri.

It could be a combination of both ... not previewing much (saving it for the playoffs) and giving Dumb & Dumber (Sirianni and Patullo) too much credit. I do hope they have some extra wrinkles up their sleeve that they plan to unleash starting on Sunday, but I don't think saving the new looks had anything to do with how that game unfolded this past weekend (which no doubt was still a winnable game, despite the starters sitting). The play calling once again was atrocious. When you have a lead late in the 3rd quarter and a RB averaging 4.7 yards/carry, how do you NOT give him the ball for the rest of the game?? Especially when you have a QB struggling (the backup OL was not giving him any protection ... there were rushers in his face almost immediately following the snap), you run the f#&*# ball. A 40:16 pass to run ratio is just retarded. Bigsby never saw the ball again in the final 17 min of the game (4th quarter plus 2 min remaining in 3rd).

Because the more points from the O, the better. Duh. 😊

Also, our D will not hold opposing Offenses to 15 points a game over a 4 game playoff run. NO WAY. They'll be gassed by halftime if the 2nd playoff game, due to this crappy Offense. 🦅
