No, it definitely wasn't the only reason but it was a big one. But attacking the other side, in full, without fear of consequence has 2 effects. It rallies your side and makes the middle look at the other side and go, "Wait a minute, they are really like that. This guy's telling the truth."

The Democratic coalition is tricky because it is a weird amalgamation of different groups that all have purity tests. The progressives will stay home if you aren't completely in lock stop with their religion (there are 87 genders, billionaires should be killed, etc.), but that turns off moderates and more traditional Dems. The one unifying thing is hatred of MAGA. Trump has no policy or principles other than he'll make liberals mad. Democrats need to adopt that and have a policy of simply making MAGA angry.

Again, it's terrible for the country. But it's where we are.

I guess you might as well try that route, as being nice has gotten them nowhere. Plus it makes them look weak, which made a lot of male voters vote for "strength”.

Right. That's a huge part of it too. For most people it's all about vibes and feelings for some stupid reason and you've got to plant that strength seed somehow or you're doomed to lose.

This doesn't really matter anymore since he can't be elected again, but the missed opportunity in 2024 for Harris was not going after Trump much harder. Remember, Trump likes to talk, but he is in reality an enormous wimp. When Trump called her dumb, Harris should have responded by challenging him to take an IQ test - both at the same time, live streamed on the web. Hire a proctor, schedule it, and show up - then call Trump a coward when he didn't show. If he calls you weak, set up a time to compete at a gym.

He likes to brag about passing a dementia test? Offer to take one at the same time as him and see who does better.

They werent nice. But they werent good at not being nice. Hillary seemed "deplorable". Biden's c'mon maaann was weak and feeble. Few times he really tried getting snippy and his frail voice just sounded pathetic. They need someone who is charismatically not nice, or funny not nice. Trump is full of hilarious one liners. None of that sheet was mean at all. Hilary's deplorable line was actually complimentary about non-MAGA Reps, they just cut that part off and you've gotta be the most sensitive MF'er in history if you thought c'mon man was him trying to be mean. Trump attacks Democrats in dozens of tweets, quotes, etc, every single day. And has crafted policies specifically to target the half of the country that didn't vote for him. That's what going after the other side entails. Constant attacks, accusations of criminality, scapegoating and policies specifically designed to hurt the other side. That's what the people want and it was unrealistic to expect it only to come from one side forever.

I definitely didn’t think highly of Hillary back then, but that has changed over the years. Biden didn’t inspire with strength, but after 4 years of the Trump circus, he was the only choice.

It’s actually sad that neither party is able to come up with a good candidate. It’s basically the lesser evil gets the vote. That’s easy going forward, but still not good for the country.
