1. A party can elect it's candidate any way they want, elections, hand picked or straws. If the voters don't like it don't vote for them, which is what they did.

I actually think it could be a bad idea to go the route of impeachment again, especially if it’s a weak case like the first one. January 6th was definitely impeachable, but even that didn’t have the effect it should have had. The NY case was another weak attempt that made the Dems look exactly how a lot of people on the other side are viewing them.

These are not normal times, so going the impeachment route has to at least have all Dems, Independents and sane Republicans on board. IMO

Yeah, I thought the NY case was just a positive for Trump. None the less, the Dems will most certainly impeach him again if they win the House. Honestly, I don't think it will move the needle much in any direction politically unless they somehow have the votes in the Senate to convict which seems like a super long shot. On the other hand, and as you say, these are extraordinary times so anything is possible.

It doesn't matter even a little bit. There's a 0% chance they'd get enough Reps in the Senate to go along so it's just to get the impeachment and hold the hearings. It's not about removal. But they should do it anyway. If it distracts him from F'ing the country and implementing his dog sheet policies that everybody hates, that's all that matters.

Agreed that there is no way of getting a conviction. I just think the Dems need to focus on coming up with a plan of making things better for lower and middle class, while not alienating the rich & companies. That’s a tough task, but they really need to change the narrative of their own party in order to win back support. And I’m saying that as a conservative leaning independent.

Dems main problem is that their representatives are a bunch of poosays so their party gets branded as such. Reps never govern for anybody that isn't insanely wealthy and they actively F the lower class and they still pull huge numbers with the poor, so it really doesn't have anything to do with catering to this or that income bracket. It's mainly about playing the media environment the right way, forcing your message through, avoiding analysis paralysis and constantly attacking (the right generally, Rep voters specifically, Rep politicians, the media, the system, etc).

That’s pretty spot on. Dems need to change their narrative ASAP and they cannot fall into the trap of making everything about Trump. Everyone knows who he is and what he does and doesn’t stand for. Come up with something new and stop feeding into the same narrative.

Come up with an STRONG alternative for once!

I agree that they can't make everything about Trump, but instead should be focusing on fixing what Trump and 30+ years of right wing propaganda has broken, which is essentially the soul of the country. And at this point, there's really no feasible fix to what's wrong with the country that doesn't include dividing the union. If I were a Dem I'd run on amicably dissolving the union, dividing it up. Assuming we get through the next 3 years without civil war (pretty doubtful), the damage will have been done and the division is inevitable. It's just a matter of do you want to do it violently or peacefully. Someone that preached about doing it amicably would probably play well on both sides.
