I love this hire! This guy has the "it" factor and very well could become Siri's replacement in the future.

Kellen Moore 2.0?

The thread title hasn’t been changed yet?? It has been 2 minutes since the Mannion announcement. Sheesh @EaglesAddict … slacker! P

Is it too early to start stocking up on eggs?? Asking for a friend. angel

I like this positivity. How does an OC replace the HC? Especially if the teams successful and then other teams go for our OC, again.

I can tell you that followers of the Packers are not happy about this development. Many wanted to ditch LaFleur in favor of this guy. Eagles have a good track record when it comes to hiring GB quarterback coaches.

THEY HIRED SEAN MANNION

I like that they swung for the fences given the options that they showed. Obviously still a huge risk but it shows they aren't running the team scared

We’re getting old.

A lot of us here have been debating the Eagles since Mannion was a mid-tier QB prospect from Oregon State.

Sean Mannion has never called plays at any level. He only has 2 years coaching experience. The Eagles are RIDICULOUS.

That’s a pretty darn good list of coaches to have played under and learned from. Hopefully he can translate that knowledge successfully to this new role.

OMFG. Puppet hire for Howie/Mr. Lurie.

dope-slap

The Eagles were prepared to give the new offensive coordinator full autonomy, but it remains to be seen whether that remains true with a hire as inexperienced as Mannion. Sirianni gave up play calling a handful of games into his first season and has stepped into more of a CEO role in recent seasons, though he has gotten more involved in the offense when he felt it was warranted, including down the stretch last season to try to elevate a sagging offense.

wacko

Always trying to 'out smart' the room = Eagles.

my brother is a HUGE Packer fan and he's pissed!!!!!!

If Manion is great next year and they win the SB, he becomes HC in Philly and Siri moves on.

They need a backup plan. They can’t have another Brian Johnson/Kevin Patullo situation. If Mannion can’t call plays, it will be another wasted year. Obviously, they don’t trust Loeffler so either replace him with an experienced play caller or hire an Asst Head Coach as the backup plan.

I'm seeing a lot of hand wringing about his lack of play calling experience.

Let's travel back in time 30 years ago - before Andy Reid. Eagles poached a new head coaching hire - also from Green Bay - one Ray Rhodes. Who did Rhodes hire as his OC? A 31 year old Jon Gruden who previously was the WR coach for the Packers. At the time, Gruden had no play calling experience. He was given play calling duties for the Eagles. The Raiders hired him as their HC a couple of years later.

And they usually do outsmart the room. So what's your point?
