More the stupid thing than the fat thing. Let's look at Daboll's coaching record:

New England (2000-06) - defensive asst and WR coach. Very successful franchise under Belichick, Daboll had a minor coaching role. That Belichick pedigree got him lots of jobs.

New York Jets (2007-08) - QB coach. Team went 9-23 as Pennington, Clemens and Favre all were mediocre under his tutelage, and he was fired by new coach Rex Ryan.

Cleveland (2009-10) - OC. Team went 5-11 and 5-11, ranked 32nd and 29th on offense.

Miami (2011) - OC. Team went 6-10, ranked 22nd on offense.

Kansas City (2012) - OC. Team went 2-14, ranked 24th on offense. Fired by newly hired Andy Reid.

New England (2013-16) - TE coach. Back under Belichick, still highly successful ... again Daboll had a minor coaching role, coaching Gronk, who was All-Pro before Daboll got there.

Alabama (2017) - OC. Rode Saban's coattails to national championship.

Buffalo Bills (2018-21) - OC. Rode Josh Allen's coattails to very good results, but never reached a Super Bowl.

New York Giants (2022-25) - Head coach. Won 9 games, then 6, then 3, then 2 before getting fired.

Only one player drafted during Daboll's tenure or the year prior made a Pro Bowl (Malik Nabers - 2024) during his tenure. Meanwhile, several players let go under his tenure found success elsewhere. E.g.,

  • Saquon Barkley - averaged 4.4 and 3.9 yards per carry under Daboll in 2023 and 2024, made All-Pro in 2025 with 5.8 yards per carry and most rushing yardage ever in a full season including playoffs,

  • Daniel Jones - 12-19 under Daboll, 8-5 at Indy in 2025,

  • Julian Love - let go after 2022 and made the Pro Bowl in 2023,

  • Xavier McKinney - let go after 2023 and named All-Pro in 2024.

Watching the Giants during his tenure, they looked continually under-prepared, and with bad game plans and bad game decisions. And he certainly did not pass my "don't look dopey on the sidelines" eye test.

So to sum up, the only real success he has had has been under Belichick or Saban, or because of seminal and/or already developed players (Gronk, Josh Allen). Everywhere else he has been a miserable failure.

You could say these sort of things about any potential OC candidate; McDaniel, Monken, Reich, anyone.

Gruden is one to think about

Absurd choice.

I know a few of you have him on your list (he’s not on mine).

We’ve made a request to interview Colts OC Jim Bob Cooter for our open OC spot.

Some good and interesting names out there. Need a "high brow" OC who can get the most out of Jalen, IMO.

I have no idea who that is though.

So we've interviewed Kafka, zac Robinson and Jim Bob Cooter? I can't say I'm very impressed.

I think Jim Bob Cooter is somewhat interesting. He did an incredible job with Indy last year. Look at the way Jones, Taylor, Warren and even Rivers performed.

I literally have zero knowledge on him so I'll take your word for it. Not gonna bother looking him up unless buzz about him with the Eagles gets stronger.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Weis_Jr. - I meant South Florida in my comment about his two years he was Florida Atlantic prior for a year. South Florida was his one shot where he was not under Lane Kiffin. Cause after it he went to Ole Miss with Kiffin again.

Jim Bob Cooter looks good, now. I had no idea they were looking at him. For the Colts, he had a high ranking offense, but didn't call plays.
In Philly, he would finally get to call the plays- a promotion of sorts over staying with the Colts.

If you eliminate the guys who were HCs and might get jobs (McDaniel, Kingsbury, Daboll) then who is your choice?

Why not Frank Reich?

Well I don't believe Daboll is getting another HC but I wouldn't have an issue with Zac Robinson, maybe even Kafka.

I think McDaniel or Klingsberry would maybe be a better option then those 2 but Robinson would be my choice of non HC candidates

That makes it harder. One interview I would want once he is available is the Denver Broncos QB coach/Pass game coordinator, Davis Webb. He only called one game and it was pre-season, but that's because Sean Peyton controls play calling. Webb is a former backup QB (Giants), so he knows the NFL and has helped Bo Nix develop. I'm not saying he's the ultimate answer, but I think that an interview is in order.

I think Reich would be a huge addition to the coaching staff. Whether you make him the OC or Asst Head Coach, he would be an excellent choice. He’s Sirianni’s mentor so Siri can bounce ideas off him. He’s also an excellent game planner.

Kingsbury front seems to be quiet. I think he's gotten a reputation as hard to work with

Really not sure if I could ride with a guy called Jim Bob Cooter, and I know that doesn't say nice things about me. Next thing you know, the Eagles will be running out at the Linc to Duelling Banjos

I know it's early, but I feel like the OC search is.......blah.

Davis Webb, Mark Brunell, or Josh McCown should get looked at imo. They have playing experience and have done well developing QBs on their teams. I’m basically hoping to find the next Kellen Moore.

Yeah sometimes a guy can see everything but just can't do it all himself, so he coaches. Pair him with someone who can do it all with guidance and watch that player be great.

Eagles should hire two offensive gurus. One OC. One consultant. Pay them well.

Because Siri is no help and the OC shouldn't have to perform miracles by himself.

I’ve been saying this over and over. Sirianni brings nothing to table. We need Reich in some capacity and someone else.

Just hire whoever the chargers fired. Worked 3 times now

We’ve made a request to interview Bobby Slowik. He was the OC in Houston for a couple of years before taking a role as passing game coordinator for Miami this past year.
