Posted January 14Jan 14 Curious to know what everyone thinks is going to happen with AJ this offseason. Does he get traded? Seems he was pretty checked out all season and was never more obvious than the WC game this past weekend. Maybe it is time for a change in scenery for him? Maybe they feel his attitude is disrupting team chemistry too much? Or do you think he is back, either because most of that nonsense seems to be overblown or just because the salary cap ramifications make it extremely difficult to do so (or perhaps you think he'll be much happier with a a new offensive scheme in place)?SALARY CAP HITS IF AJ IS TRADED:Current cap number for 2026: $23.4MTrade (pre-June 1): $43.4M dead moneyTrade (post-June 1): $16.4M dead money ($7.0M in cap savings)If released instead of traded for comparison:Cut (pre-June 1): $72.4M dead moneyCut (post-June 1): $45.4M dead money
January 14Jan 14 The guy was a dog all season and I don't mean dog in the good sense. Dropping balls, alligator arms, pouting, bad body language, etc. And he was unhappy last season. That book he was supposedly reading was a passive/aggressive action. I don't hold it against him for speaking out. He said what a lot of people thought. But then go and back it up don't drop passes when a game and season are on the line. I'll gladly take the 2022 A.J. but don't want to touch the 2025 A.J.
January 14Jan 14 I think the situation is overblown.Hurts is good with him, other guys in the locker room throughout the year have spoken up for him, Howie spoke up for him, Siri after the game said positive things about him and most of all from a fiscal standpoint makes zero sense to get rid of this year.Im hoping with a new OC Brown can turn it around and we and he put this year behind us
January 14Jan 14 I think he was checked out but he wasn't the only one that spoke out. He just did it more and so people targted himEven Smitty said somethingHe's not going anywhere IMO
January 14Jan 14 If I had to guess today, I'd say he's going to be traded. And quite honestly, if he checked out mentally he did a significant disservice to his teammates, the organization and the fans. He had to be told to cool it on social media by Lurie and even if some of the things he said were/are true, you have to keep that ish in house and figure it out. On top of everything, are his skills in decline? Or at least, about to be? He'll be 29 next season and while I think a highly motivated Brown can still produce at a high level for at least one more season, I'm not sure that can be here.On the other hand....while I love Smitty....we could end up WR hell again if we can't find an adequate replacement for him.
January 14Jan 14 I would like him traded for a very selfish reason, to see if he would start chirping on where the blame lies, Hurts or the scheme.
January 14Jan 14 The more I think on it the more I think he time should be done with us. While he is talented his flaws were glaring this season. Mentally checking out, not blocking, ect. I very much believe we can find success without him. Not to mention we are going to have to start paying the D.
January 14Jan 14 He's very talented. So this a a tough call. Maybe, just maybe, with a new, creative, innovative, talented OC on the Eagles Coaching Staff, AJ becomes happy and balls out for one more year.
January 14Jan 14 No, that would be next season. This season is Nick’s last chance to prove himself / Eagles are going to try to keep the continuity. A lot can change after next season regarding big contracts on offense.
January 14Jan 14 Personally I don't want him going anywhere. He's too expensive for us to get anything positive in return I think along with a few of you other guys that a GOOD OC will help everyone. I think AJ is capable of returning back to last years form.
January 14Jan 14 Oh, I thought the dead money was much worse. $16 million is bad, but I don't think Howie would mind if he gets a first round in exchange. He's gone IMO.

But he and Hurts seem to be okay now. In every other year here he has put up close to 1500 yards or been on pace for that if not for injuries. With KP now gone I’d sooner see how he is next year, especially as we can’t really trade him prior to June. If the same issues can trade him next year or even mid-season. We all saw what happened when the Titans tried to replace him with a first round pick.
January 14Jan 14 Tough one to call. If he wants to stay then he will. If he wants out then he’ll get his wish. I genuinely do think that’s where this organisation is with him. And so it might come down to who they bring in as OC? If he thinks they’ll try to get him going and bring the best out of him then he might stay? But the problems with Jalen might just be beyond any repair.
January 14Jan 14 At least from what I can see I give it another season. Bring in a OC that can move him and smitty all around and feed the ball with motion etc. Couple that with under center and boot and some Hurts running. Just enough to keep the threat. Build on this as a base and keep a bit of the old stuff for the drop back passing game.It was a bad look for AJ this year because he caused alot of drama and then didnt deliver. He did the same drama in 2024 but then he delivered.
January 14Jan 14 His attitude and performance were poison this year so you have to shop him. If we can get a trade done post June 1st for a conditional 2nd round pick that becomes a 1st if he has 1,000 yards, I think you do it.It’s too bad about the dead cap pre June 1st because if you could trade him at the start of FA for a 2026 1st round pick, you could maybe pursue someone like Denzel Boston in the draft to replace him. If you also trade-up with our pick to get OT, Spencer Fano, to be Lane’s future replacement, plus a TE and iOL in the 3rd or 4th, you might retool the offense with young, healthy players without the drama.
January 14Jan 14 No, I have heard from a very reliable source back during the season that the Eagles have no plans to trade him.And cap-wise, roster-wise once you dig into it, you understand why. AJ Brown will be an Eagle in 2026. 2027 may be a different story.
January 14Jan 14 If we get the right value from the trade, we will trade him, if not he will stay...it is quite simple
January 14Jan 14 AJ Brown and Hurts are both here next year, simply due to contracts. Fans need to stop dreaming. You see if a new OC can fix the offense. Multiple players have complained about the offense. You see if the offseason and a new coach gets AJ Brown back to playing at a high level. After next season, he is likely gone not necessarily because of him, but financially they have to shift finances to defense to keep the young awesome talent.
January 14Jan 14 Who replaces him? JD is leaving in FA. They can't sign Pickens. Then there is the cap space on top of not having anyone to replace him. Anyone rather have Smith, Wilson, and Coop? I'm sure Howie would love to sign GP and trade Brown, but that's not possible. I'd rather give the new OC a year with Brown since they are paying him anyway.
January 14Jan 14 Agreed, give the new OC one season with him. I think he can be a dominant WR for the Eagles with the right O scheme. Well, I hope he can, as I assume he'll be on the team for one more year. 2026....our year!!
January 14Jan 14 I think it is SO overblown and this is why I hate the media. AJ has gotten 1k yards ever since he has been here and has been consistently productive. The last time we had a big bodied WR that could be such a threat, had sure hands and could fight through contact was TO....those kinds of receivers are hard to come by and I think its just ridiculous how the media is spinning this and fans are agreeing with it. The fans and other players were also talking about the OC and this HS vanilla offense that underutilized their talents but he has been the only one who has been outspoken about it. He is too valuable to the team and his cap hit is way too much....he stays at least another year.....

But who knows, since he hasn’t had much production these past 2 years maybe that’ll lower his value enough that we’d be able to bring him back on a somewhat cheaper 1 year prove-it deal.
January 15Jan 15 AJ Brown gave us all his "For who? For what?" moment in the playoff game vs. the Niners with that alligator armed non-catch that should've been a catch.Like the first guy who did that (Ricky Watters), he has to come out, apologize and explain that's not who he is, and then go out there and prove he's not only one of the most productive, but one of the toughest WR's in the game. Do that AJ and all will likely be forgiven. Everybody makes mistakes. Cowards just never own them. Can't be that guy. Being that guy is one thing Eagles fans find unforgivable.
