Not exactly a strong indicator from the HC that AJ will be back.

That's what I think. Unless Howie gets an offer he can't refuse, he'll be traded after next season. Maybe even before the trade deadline. We have to see how everyone does in the new offense.

I think he plays the finishes out next season then they trade him

I'm still so very torn on this. You don't want to lose really good Football players, but, if he wants out, and you can get a decent haul for him, I would suggest that you trade him.

Deal with the ramifications later.

I don't like, at all, how he seems to quit on routes. Or short arms some passes from his QB (IMO he did this 2 or 3 times in the SF playoff game).

Extremely tough decision to make for Howie.

Here’s my speculation.

1) Brown has said now he wants to stay. He was frustrated last season but now KP is out he should get back to his usual level.

2) Yes he could have been lying on that podcast, but I feel he said enough that he’s not actively wanting to leave.

3) Neither Howie nor Siri said he wouldn’t be traded, but Howie in particular made comments that would be difficult to explain if they did.

4) The Eagles really can’t trade Brown before June because of the huge cap hit.

5) My sense is the Eagles want to keep Brown for 2026, but are keeping an open mind if either he starts to play up again or they get blown away by an offer.

6) Trading him after 2026 makes sense. Hopefully we have a rookie ready and we’ll need to start paying DeJean, Mitchell and Carter etc

Where I am not so sure here is… If he wants to stay why wouldn’t he talk about the Eagles on the Pats podcast he appeared on? He made no reference to the team, any of his team mates nor his HC. If he wants to stay surely he’d speak happily about us?

He was obviously frustrated (no speculation there lol) ... but why he was frustrated, that's where the speculation arises. Was he frustrated with the offensive scheme under Patullo? He did state that he thought KP did an excellent job (even though I don't buy for a nanosecond that he sincerely means that). Was he frustrated with Jalen? Was he frustrated with not being "the man" and getting the ball more than everyone else? If it is the latter, his frustrations aren't likely to disappear when you have Smitty and Barkley also on the roster that will chew into the overall targets a bit (rightfully so). There are probably a half dozen or more other areas that could have led to his frustration.

Yeah but for the 3rd year in a row uk eagle is sure he is gone this time!

It's the NFL. Just about every player can be traded, IMO.

I've said it before, they trade or don't trade him DEPENDING on the haul they get back from said other team.

Really going out on a limb there with that prediction 😜

By week 1, AJ Brown will either be an Eagle or play for another team. You heard it here first!

At this point I don’t think it’s wise to trade AJ prior to June 1st, but I can’t see how you can bring him back. From the antics from the SB season, to the book to the social media comments, and immediately after the SB to last season where it looked like he quit and got into a very visible altercation with the coach in a playoff game. I don’t see how you can keep him here and if so keep him as a captain. It’s not easy to let talent walk out the door, but it wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened. Both sides continuously are sending mixed signals. The way I see it you’re either all in or all out. Neither side seems all in so he has to go.

I'm right there with you bro. I'll bet Lurie and Howie are thinking, WTF we paid you a LOT of money to not only be a top player in the league but to be a leader on this team and you are failing at both. They’re probably seething reading all of those cryptic tweets and watching him halfass it on the field (in particular that playoff game that played a huge part in losing). At this point it wouldn't surprise me if they just deal him PRE June 1 and take the entire $43M dead money hit to be rid of him and clear the cap completely for 2027. That is going to hamstring us quite a bit for 2026 but I'm sure Howie will find a way to make it work regardless.

I'm in the camp of "yes trade him". But I cannot do it before June1. We need the cap room and some flexibility by waiting until after June 1, right??

Can vikas or HazeltonEagle explain this stuff?

Dumb it down. For dummies like me.

Why do NFL Teams give out contracts like this, contracts that can hurt the team with "cap hits"??!!

😬🤓

Just search vikas' posts, he's explained the AJ Brown contract situation many times. Recent post in the blog broke down impact of trading him.

Read this:

Kempski does a good job breaking it down.

Usually when situations get to this point with diva WR's the end result is a trade but I really think there is a chance Howie will stand firm on the compensation being no worse than a first and another mid round pick which could easily delay this for quite a while, if not result in Brown back next season. IF and I stress IF the rumors are true and the Eagles are asking for a first and second and teams are only offering a second that's a pretty large gap to bridge.

I want Aj back, and I want him engaged. But, I also want accountability from him and to be held to account by the coaches and team. If he is traded. Thanks for the memories.

I am fresh out of f's as to whether he comes or goes. I'm at the point where I would accept any answer just to make this off-season beating of the dead horse end.

Thank you for your time.

That cap hit is so huge, I can’t see them moving him for nothing though. There’s a lot of talent that could be loss due to that unless we start seeing a lot of Howie savvy contract restructuring. They’re still going to need reliever afterwards.

The Eagles aren’t the Raiders. Howie isn’t handing over Brown for nothing like they did with Moss. Howie doesn’t get fleeced in trades. We all know he does the fleecing. If Vrabel wants to communicate with Brown during the season and he wants his guy that bad then pay up. If the Bills want to give Josh Allen one less excuse for the play off mishaps then pay up.

True, but history has shown disgruntled receivers don't fetch much. Especially ones that act like a-holes after winning a super bowl.
