Time will tell the tale. We were having similar talk about and now he seems to have turned a corner.
January 14Jan 14 This is the one failure of coaching that I struggle with, they could see Dickerson and Jurgens were struggling, I don't care if the players themselves want to suit up 'for the team', they should've taken the decision out of their hands and shut them down for the season, all they've done is held up the healing process for a season and it's done neither the players themselves or the team any favors.

Hell, even if Dickerson and Jurgens "took turns" on IR.But ultimately the OL depth is going to be a big area of concern this offseason so hopefully it gets addressed adequately. And hopefully Dickerson and Jurgens can get back to full health...or at least one of them. LJ is a perpetual question mark every year nowadays.
January 14Jan 14 He might also just be down right now? Like we’ve just had our season ended in disappointing fashion. He’s played all year with injuries. He was hurt at the back end of last year too and played through injury. He might just be at the point that I’m sure we’ve all experienced with injuries or an illness? The "my god I’m not sure I’m ever going to get better” but given a bit of time you do get back to normal.
January 15Jan 15 The young guy had 4 consecutive season ending injuries in college that required surgery. They included both knees and both ankles. How in the world did anyone think he'd stay healthy in the NFL for any real length of time? It's a stupid conclusion to reach. He's injury prone and damaging a surgically repaired ankle or knee (or both) is really bad. I don't know what he hurt again this time, but I do know that because of the rigors that an NFL O-lineman must endure, he's always hurt. Every year without fail he ends up struggling to varying degrees. Can't have that unreliability.

He's a massive talented guy but with his injury history there was only a small chance he would be solid for a long period of time.
January 15Jan 15 Injury was always a concern when they drafted him. He's one to think about replacing with a draft pick to develop. He's great when healthy and I like him but just have to have a replacement plan.Same with Jurgens

I expect they keep Lampkin around to take a look at him at center if Jurgens is still playing hurt / cautious next year.
January 15Jan 15 click bait title for the article:E.J. Smith of PHLY Sports reported that when asked if he’ll make a full recovery, Dickerson said, "If I had that answer, I’d feel a lot better.”
January 15Jan 15 This guy belly ached about injuries all through college. He stayed hurt. I don’t know why the eagles expected him to be any different in the NFL. There are just some men built to play through the pain and still perform, Jason Kelce for example. Hell, Brandon Graham comes to mind, too. Dickerson is a soft, whiny, but very gifted, big beach.
January 15Jan 15 Both shouldn't have been extended. They're great when they're healthy but at Oline you NEED them healthy

Dickerson had that surgery or procedure or whatever in preseason (or whenever, I forget the timeline). He was pounding beers at practice literally the next day. O linemen are warriors who want to play through pain, that's great but not if you're a liability and can't perform. Dickerson and Jurgens should have waited to be fully healthy. Jurgens was a liability and Toth actually played better. Dickerson I agree did play better later in the year. Had he waited in the early season to be healthy, he may not have had as many issues. This offseason they all need to immediately have whatever surgeries or procedures they need, rehab and get healthy. They have a tough schedule next year against tough defenses (we've said that for 2 years, I disagreed that their schedules were too tough. Next year, it really is a tough schedule). Rest, get healthy and be ready.
January 15Jan 15 Let's not turn our real disappointment with losing in the playoffs into the sky is falling. Landon had off-season surgery and never really recovered. He's a tough guy and tried to tough it out resulting in a very sub-par year.

Kendall didn't look bad vs DC and they have the short guy as well. Depth movesF Johnson needs to be back as the swing T. Howie can't let him get away this year. You can't do much better as a backup IMOWilliams needs to take a step and become a backup for JMThey need to draft a guard and T high in the first few rounds. Everyone wants a TE high, but DG back for a year with a mid round pick may let them fix the OL. StartersJM, Dickerson, Cam, MB, Lane (?)DepthF Johnson, Steen, Kendall, Lampkin, Williams, 1st/2nd round OT, 2nd/3rd round G

"Oh, what you're complaining that you have a torn ACL again? Rub some dirt on it and get back out there, beech!" So strange.

January 15Jan 15 Speaking about injured players, the team should schedule all medical procedures for every injured players as early as possible in the offseason. Max out the recovery time before the new season starts.

January 16Jan 16 Some people are hard to please. Landon has played 78 of 85 possible regular season games since he was drafted. 1 of those missed games was week 1 of his rookie year when he was still rehabbing from the ACL injury in college. 3 more were end of the season rest games. He has also played in 10 out of 10 possible playoff games. Yes, he's had to deal with injuries some of the time and for the most part has played through them --- and somehow people don't think that demonstrates toughness. I'm old enough to remember Shawn Andrews sitting out almost 2 straight seasons after the doctors cleared him to return.
January 16Jan 16 It's one thing to play in games, it's another to play effectively and efficiently in said games. He should not be on the field if he can't be effective and efficient. Which he (and Jurgens) were NOT this season. For whatever reason, the O Line sucked arse this season. Injuries, scheme, Coaching, etc.....they were awful. Stoutland needs to have his feet held to the fire. He can't get a free pass every season, IMO.
