Finally took the plunge and used some vouchers I got for Xmas to buy Civ 7 while it was on sale, played it and I've got to say what the hell were they thinking? I don't think I can recall a major franchise introducing so many new mechanics fundamentally different to what went before with so little explanation of how they work, it's a mess from top to bottom gameplay and UI wise, what do you mean I can't play the same civilization all the way through history, wasn't that the whole point of the game in the past?

I've spent hours playing Civ going back to Civ 2 in the late 90's, but Civ 7 genuinely could well be the Tiberian Twilight of the Civ franchise, it's awful.

It is vastly different. Ive done like 3 playthroughs in 6 months. I will say I found my last playthrough fun and enjoyable and definitely will do another, but yeah its just not the same or nearly as well done as 6 or 5 which i put a billion hours into.

The civ changing I really just dont get. Its like they just wanted to cram in as many leaders and civilizations so that you could play them all in like 10 playthroughs or something. No idea what they were thinking.
