Eagle hire Mike Kafka to be the new OC.. drafted by the eagle in 2010 Kafka find Philly home. He ended the year as the giants interm head coach and the team really showed some fight the last few weeks!

Retirements - lane Johnson- realizes his body just can’t hold up anymore not the way he wanted to go out but he just can’t handle another season. Eagles use a post june 1 designation to spread his cap hit out and save 5.64 million.

BG turns in his badge again

Extend / restructure

Jordan Davis- after a career year the eagles extend Davis’s 5th year option and save 9.378 million

Michael Carter- Carter played decent but isn’t staying on his current contract he agrees to an extension to save 6.786 million if he bulks he gets cut.

Re-sign

Dallas Goedert - looking at things seems to show if we let Dallas walk we get charged 20million in dead cap this year while his blocking seemed to take a step back this year Dallas still had a good season so we get a new deal done to push the cap hit down the road a little and not lose a top 10 player at his position. Should work well in Kafka’s offense

Dotson - signs for a one year deal

Mann - solid punter and holder

Blankenship- leader of the defense losing him makes the position much weaker

Big Fred - solid backup/fill in starter gets first crack at the RT spot.

Let go

Phillips - played really well for us and showed he can be a good player will be a high price free agent at a highly valued position. It’s a shame it didn’t work out a little better but I project a contract similar to Milton and a 2027 3rd round comp pick in return for the half season rental.

Dean - another player I wish we could keep around but with other talent in the fold and some cap restraints dean excites some teams and nets us a 4th round comp

Everyone else

Free agents — going to be pick and choose here saving some cap space for an incoming JC extension and a possible trade.

Mekhi Becton - will be cut by the chargers who weren’t a fit and save 9 million doing so. Brought back to where he played his best to compete for the rg/rt spot. Doesn’t count in the comp pick formula.

Adam Trautman - #2 tightend who has shown he can catch the ball if asked to but is also a good blocker for the broncos

Evan Neal - another former first rounder for Stout to try and work some magic with. Probably nothing more than a backup but you never know.

Trades with a weak tackle draft and minimal cap space the eagles do there homework and make a trade for a potential starter. Eagles trade for former 7th overall pick JC Latham from the titans. The 2nd year pro moved back to his more natural RT position this year with rankings showing him rated as the 45th best tackle

Tyler Steen for JC Latham Steen graded out a little higher then JC but has less years on his contract. With Becton back the eagles try and get value and a potential starter for Steen.

AJ Brown 2027 conditional pick swap for Maxx Crosby. The Raiders have a huge amount of cap space so much so that I’ve read they could be endanger of not meeting the nfl’s minimum cap requirements here I have them taking on the majority for Aj’s contract to facilitate the trade and jumpstart their rebuild. They have a good rb and te’s in place and likely #1 pick qb in the fold AJ and another one of the top free agents wr’s would instantly change their offense.

Draft

#23 Colton Hood CB Tennessee considered edge here but couldn’t find anyone I had to have in this range so went with one of the top cbs in the draft .

#54 Eli Stowers TE Vanderbilt

Former 4 star qb recruit turned TE the last two years has shown tremendous growth and skill set at the position.

#68 - Malachi Fields WR Notre Dame - big body wr with great hands

#98 Jalon Kilgore Safety South Carolina

started 33 games for the Gamecocks, finished his college career with 178 total tackles and eight interceptions. He was also credited with 29 pass breakups

#122 Isaiah World OT Oregon

Played his senior year for the ducks viewed as a much better pass blocker than run blocker. Has experience at both tackle positions

#137 Mikail Kamara Dl/ED 10 sacks a year ago only 2 this year dealing with injuries. Does have a fair amount of pressures. As I get this ready to post he just blocked a punt in the national championship game that was recovered for a td

#151 Zane Durant DT/Dl bit of a tweener probably better suited for end in the 3/4 has increased his sack numbers over the years with 4 in 2025

#180 Josh Moten CB Southern Miss

Back to back 5 interception seasons something we definitely need from our cb’s after being led in ints this past year by a "DE”

Hopefully it’s a good read and discussion

looking forward to your thoughts

Full details coming shortly but I’ll start off with a projected OC

I am fine with Kafka.

I see the Eagles OLine as a major problem.

Will they recover from these injuries?

The rest?

No it took a lot of research to come up with the final product just finished the post last night watching the championship game.

Man this is really inciteful and thorough. It's the kind of post I love to read, digest and comment on. Thanks!

Retirements - i agree BG has had his day. I hope Lane stays one more year to give Cameron Willliams another year to mature and potentially replace him. When Williams came out the consensus was it was a year ealry and he would have been a 1st round pick this year.

Extrend/restructure - regarding Davis - bingo, you're right on. I'm totally not on board with Michael Carter, his cap hit of $9M+ isn't in line with his play. if we cut him we save $8M+ on our cap. A restructure means he gets all the money in his deal, but in a different manner - and I don't think he's worth it. I'm glad you brought up his name though because I'd missed seeing the opportunity for more cap space by axing him. Finally, we might need that $ to match other offers for Goedert

Re-signings. Really good job with one "but". Goedert would be great to have back especially if you're trading AJ. Mann, Blankenship and Big Fred are glue guys who are well worth keeping. I'm not in on Dotson. He just doesn't get open and the defense loads up on AJ and Devonte while leaving their weakest defender on Dotson. Frankly, I think he was as much a problem with the passing game as Patullo, AJ, or Hurts.

Free agents - I just can't see brtinging in 4 offensive linemen (2 FA's, a trade plus a draft pick). Even with your trade of Steen. i believe we need to give the aformentioned Cameron Willliams an opportunity on the roster. We also have to see about Hinton, Pierce, and Lampkin.

I do like the Trautman move. We have 3 TE FA's. You have Goedert coming back and a draft pick. That fills the room.

Trsdes - As I i said, I hope Lame comes back for 1 more year. If not, your Latham trade makes sense.

AJ for Crosby - I don't understand the "conditional" part of the trade. Be interested in your thoughts. 1 for 1 post June 1 might be doable. I am uncomfortable losing tht part of the offense though. I know folks are down on him, but I believe he never recovered from that early hamstring injury.

Draft - your 1st 4 picks are the best I;ve seen. Great job.

Here are some comments about the rest of your picks -

OT World - depending on how many OL'men you bring in through free agency and trades this might be a luxury pick and we could get more value at another position.

Edge Kamara - i don't want any 6'0" edges - period. He was productive in college, but I;m out. There's a whole group I;d take before him - Lawrence (Central Florida), Anthony Jr (Duke), Sapp (Florida) Llewellen (Iowa), and Crawford (Auburn) all come to mind.

I think ther eare other needs other than DT Durant (the room is full) and another CB in Motem.

How about a QB - Beck, Robertson, Klubnick? LB?

Then there's linebacker. there's a hole if we lose Dean to FA. Jaishawn BArham would fit the bill here.

Thanks again!

I would love for lane to stick around for another year but when I look at the injuries he has had, his age, and the fact that he has 3 sons at home. It leads me to believe it might be time. Here is a quote from in in August 2025

Lane Johnson on his future with the Eagles

"As my kids get older, my parents are getting older, you start seeing the circle of life if you will. A lot of time has been spent in this sport all the way since high school. No Thanksgivings, no Christmases, so a lot of people that you love, you know, you realize you haven’t been able to spend time with them for 15, 20 years, so that’s where I’ve been.”

M Carter - I did add in that if it’s not favorable for the eagles they just cut him. I think he showed enough it would be nice to keep him around but definitely not anywhere near his current contract.

Keeping Dotson, this is more on the contract than the player though I think Dotson could actually be decent. I would love to add a receiver like Alec Pierce but the free agent contracts are just crazy and he is projected around a 4 year 81 million contract.

Reason I’m down on AJ is the little things he missed several blocks by thinking the run wouldn’t make it to him or just loafing around by the looks of the tape. The conditional part I was referring to was maybe there are 2027 draft picks attached that can go up/down based on playing time/ pro bowl/all pro accomplishments.

World - luxury pick- they love picking lineman.

I had us losing Lane ,Toth, Pryor, steen and Adding Becton, Neal, Latham, World… so that’s an even swap in number of players.

We could go with a different De I was looking at a bunch, i like his production and versatility they lined him up in multiple spots across the line.

Can never have two many bodies at DT with Ojoma’s play he could work his way out of a contract if we pay both Davis and Carter need to keep building the pipeline.

I feel this qb draft is weak don’t see any reason to invest a pick. Unless we trade tanner. The value of an UDFA sis probably not much less then those you mentioned

I did forget to address lb after letting dean walk but after seeing trotter vs Washington I think him, Campbell, Baun can hold down the position and I look for an improvement from Mondon who played good on special teams this year.
