Posted January 18Jan 18 Hire:Former Giants HC Brian Daboll as OC - Daboll is largely credited with the development of Josh Allen as a QB during his time in Buffalo as their OC before taking the Giants job. There are also levels of familiarity with key members of the offense. He has already worked with Jalen Hurts and Devonta Smith during their time together in Alabama as well as Saquon Barkley during his time with the Giants. Nick Sirianni has worked with Daboll before during their time with the Chiefs and has previously described Daboll as a mentor. Daboll is someone I don't foresee getting another HC job this hiring cycle. Stefanski already got the Falcons job and I expect Mike McDaniel to get his pick of opportunities. Not the most exciting name, but Daboll offers plenty of experience as a play caller and more importantly is someone who is not afraid to coach Jalen Hurts tough in order to get the most out of him.Retire: DE Brandon Graham - Graham un-retiring to play another season was a great story but it’s unlikely that he does the same this upcoming season. He’s already one of the only few Eagles that can claim to be a part of both Super Bowl victories in franchise history, with nothing left to prove.Re-sign:DE Jaelan Phillips - Young player that’s too talented to simply let him walk for the comp pick that he’ll garner, Howie finds a way to get a long-term deal done with his trade deadline acquisition who became our best edge rusher immediately.TE Dallas Goedert - With the season he’s had in the red zone and with no heir apparent in the roster, Goedert comes back on another short-term deal while Howie hopes to find his successor in the draft.S Reed Blankenship - Solid starter at a position where we still have some question marks at despite investing two Day 2 picks at the position recently; re-signing Blankenship is a must.P Braden Mann - The bright spot of our special teams unit, Mann comes back as our punter.OT Fred Johnson - Swing tackle that has performed admirably for this team whenever Lane Johnson is out.Free agency:QB Kenny Pickett - The Raiders prepare for their QB of the future in Fernando Mendoza and with Geno Smith already on the roster as the veteran mentor, they have no need for Pickett anymore, who comes back to the Eagles as the QB2.WR Olamide Zacchaeus - After being buried on a talented Bears WR room with the emergence of first round pick Luther Burden III, Zacchaeus comes back to Philly on a veteran minimum deal to compete for the WR3 spot.WR Tyquan Thornton - Thornton is just a few years removed from being the Patriots 2nd round pick, currently buried on the Chiefs depth chart, but still possesses an intriguing combination of size and speed as a dart throw signing to compete for the WR3 spot.OG Cole Strange - Former 1st round pick who hasn’t quite lived up to his draft status but is still young and a solid run blocker, despite his weakness in pass protection.Trade:QB Tanner McKee to the Jets for the 33rd overall pick - The Jets have an interesting decision to make at QB with Dante Moore going back to Oregon and the Raiders presumably taking Fernando Mendoza with the 1st overall pick in the Draft. Reaching for Ty Simpson with the 2nd overall pick would be unwise and the free agent QB market is underwhelming. While some may say the Eagles should hold out for a 1st round pick, I would say this is an unrealistic return for McKee as he doesn’t have the same resume or draft pedigree as prior players the Eagles have parlayed into 1st round picks in the past (Bradford, Wentz). I would expect something around what the team got for A.J. Feeley or Kevin Kolb. This is still a great return for McKee who only has 1 year left on his deal.DraftRnd 1 (23) - Kadyn Proctor OT Alabama - Proctor has the size profile that the Eagles like in their OL in the run blocking game at 6’7 and 366 lbs. While his technique was inconsistent at Alabama, he’s in the perfect spot to be developed by Jeff Stoutland to be the successor to Lane Johnson at RT. He has the upside to supplant Tyler Steen to be the starter at RG as a rookie with a similar size profile to Mekhi Becton, who had a great year with the Eagles during their Super Bowl LIX run.Rnd 2 (33) - Brandon Cisse CB South Carolina - Cisse is a good man coverage corner with great size and above average arm length to play outside CB. He could be the answer at CB2 for the Eagles, which has been a sore spot this season with the inconsistent play of Adoree Jackson. His zone coverage isn’t quite as strong and he does have the tendency to be grabby with his hands when he’s beat, but this can be corrected with proper coaching under Vic Fangio.Rnd 2 (55) Max Klare TE Ohio State - After transferring from Purdue, Klare was not highlighted as much as a receiver at OSU; he was asked to put on some more weight to contribute as a blocker. While the blocking is still a work in progress, Klare showed upside as a receiver with his previous production at Purdue as their leading receiver before his transfer. Klare has decent size at 6’5 and 243 lbs and can be groomed to succeed Dallas Goedert, but get plenty of looks in 2 TE sets as a rookie.Rnd 3 (68) Josiah Trotter LB Missouri - With Nakobe Dean leaving in free agency, the depth chart at LB after Zach Baun opens up, presumably with Jihaad Campbell sliding in as a starter on the depth chart. However with Campbell being more of an edge rusher, there is still a need for another LB. Josiah has a more similar playing style to his father, fitting the archetype of an old-school thumper at MIKE, compared to his younger brother Jeremiah Trotter Jr. on our rosterRnd 3 (98) Derrick Moore DE Michigan - The lack of depth at DE was apparent early on in the season, especially after ZaDarius Smith’s abrupt early season retirement, prompting a series of events including Brandon Graham coming out of retirement and Howie's midseason trade for Jaelan Phillips. Moore is coming off a 10 sack season as a senior with Michigan and will add depth to the DL.Rnd 4 (122) Deion Burks WR Oklahoma - With Jahan Dotson walking in free agency, the WR3 spot is up for grabs. Burks is a bit undersized to line up at outside WR at 5’9 but he can fill the role of slot receiver with his route running ability and speed to create separation. He also offers positional versatility as a returner as well. Rnd 4 (137) Drew Allar QB Penn State - Allar was once considered a first round prospect before the start of the college season, but his inconsistency this season and a season ending ankle injury both cause his draft stock to drop to Day 3. Allar has ideal size for a QB at 6’5 and 235 lbs with great arm strength, but struggles with his footwork and misses easy throws. Developmental prospect to compete for the QB2 spot.Rnd 5 (151) - Jakobe Thomas S Miami - Thomas has good size for a safety at 6’2, 200 lbs and is a ballhawk. There is a concern for poor tackling form and missed tackles, but Thomas had a breakout year for Miami after transferring twice from Middle Tennessee State and Tennessee, finishing this season with 5 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles.Rnd 5 (180) Trey Smack K Florida - Unfortunately Jake Elliott has regressed this season and it’s time to look for another kicker. Smack has connected with over 80% of his FG attempts each of the past 3 seasons and has only missed one XP attempt his entire college career. He does well with his kicks over 50 yards, going 5/6 this past season with kicks from that distance.

I hope whomever we sign is successfull.Your suggestions for re-signing are good. I might add Dean. Of course $$ will come into play for each one.I'm not a fan of any of your FA suggestions. I'd just as soon go with Kyle McCord as Kenny Pickett. The remaining picks are just one year place-holders, at best.We already have the Jets 3rd rounder. They might like a sweetener.I think you might get better value at TE lin later rounds.I would consider McNeil-Warren at safety. BTW: Is Jacobe pronounce like Ja-Cobe or as a silent "e" Jacob?

BTW: Is Jacobe pronounce like Ja-Cobe or as a silent "e" Jacob?Appreciate the feedback! While I didn't place specific contract projections for the re-signing or free agency choices, looking at our projected cap space between $15-20 million without any major changes, it doesn't appear we'll be big players in free agency this offseason. Hence the conservative FA signings.Just trying to re-sign our own players will eat up the bulk of that cap space, in particular Jaelan Phillips deal. I would love to have Nakobe Dean back but I don't think the Eagles can afford to bring him back if we're prioritizing guys like Phillips, Blankenship, and Goedert. One of those would probably have to walk in that scenario.Interesting thought regarding TE. It's not a top heavy class and only 1 player is projected to go in the first round, Kenyon Sadiq from Oregon. Don't think the Eagles would go TE in Round 1 but if he somehow made it to the 2nd round, I think they would be all over that move. Last year's class was definitely a better opportunity to grab a TE, so curious to see how the team navigates this year's draft.

If we resign that group of our own guys then free agency will be 2nd tier guys. i actually don't think there's enough to sign all of the guys in both groups. Each might need to be pared back by one or even two guys. Don't think they'll sign 2 FA WR's and also draft one so there's one easy subtraction. I think your first 3 picks are great. I hope you don't mind me quibbling from ther on - At round 3 pick 68 edge is more of a priority than linebacker. I was surprised to actually see there are only 2 on the roster. Phillips makes 3 if we cna re-sign the #3 rated free agent in the NFL. So I'd be looking at Casius Howell or Dani Dennis-Sutton. BTW - is there a little sentimentality seeping in here?At round 3 pick 98 I still wouldn't be looking linebacker. Safety is another position where depth is an issue. Both Epps and Blankenship are FA's and I don't trust Sydney Brown one bit. McNeil-Warren or Hubbard look to be guys available From here on the picks are a bit later because of comp picks4 - 122. I'm with you, good call. Burks, Zacchaeus, Cooper, and Wilson have a camp battle for WR3 and roster spots. 4 - 137 is way too high for Allar. There's even a chance he could be an UDFA. Want a QB here - Carson Beck5 - 151 I suggested a S earlier so let's double up at Edge. Vincent Anthony looks good here5 - 180. Bingo, great pick. Cut elliott and get a couple of million in cap relief. that could be the difference in re-signing Big Fred. Thanks again!
January 20Jan 20 There might be a decent cap increase again this year. I would give preference to our FA. Seth Joyner suggested this morning (WIP) that Dean has value . He theorized that he might need to explore FA to establish his value elsewhere. We will probably in-fill with several 1 year JAGs as usual. We luck out occasionally.Several mocks have prposed the Eagles picking Sadiq now that they sit at pick #23. This could turn out to be the most immediate producer at this juncture. A creative OC could find plenty ways to change our look and how opposing defenses plan for us in 2026.Signing Phillips would help solidify our defensive line. We also have a "boatload" of rookie OL players from 2025. Hopefully, some of whom project as capable backups this season. That would then allow us to concentrate on our defensive backfield in the remaining draft.

While you didn’t mention that strange had a shot at starting that’s surely a huge gap. Nice effort
