If we trade AJ post June 1 for cap prposes can we receive picks in this year's draft in return?

Believe it’s been said you can’t post June 1st a trade.

No. We'd have to trade him prior to this year's draft.

Then that would be a pre June trade.

Thanks for clearing - that's bad news making the choice either no compensation this year or a huge cap hit.

Yep. In some senses, if the choice was to get a 2nd round pick in this year's draft or wait until June and trade him to a team for a 2027 pick, I think I'd choose the latter. If we dealt him for a 2027 pick, I'd bet that Howie could get a deal that was 2nd round pick with the chance to be a 1st round pick if Brown met statistical benchmarks. But if we deal him before this year's draft, I'd bet the best we'd get would be a 2nd rounder, straight up.

All that said, my preference would be to just keep him and make a serious push for a SB next season...then blow it up after that.

Anybody thing this whole AJ thing is a narrative generated by the media and WIP?

It started when Joe Santiquito (?) said he asked to be traded. No facts, no sources, no reasoning at all included in his article. Then the mouths at WIP picked it up along with hacks like Jeff Mosher who is minimg for clicks to keep his faiing InsidetheBirds business afloat. Even Reuben Frank who I like tristed Howie's recent answer that he doesn't want to trade AJ into something because it wasn't the same exact works Howie used previously. The media doesn't care that their unsubstantiated narratives hurt the team and sometimes even become a self fulfilling prophesy. They are simply trying to generatee more clicks and listeners.

We haven't heard from AJ and sure he wasn't happy with his utilization, but let's all get off the trade AJ bandwagon until we have some facts.

As an aside. I know AJ had a bad year. HE wasn't getting open. Personally, I don't think he ever fully recovered from the early season hamstring injurt.

I think it’s been embellished, but there is definitely something behind it. You can see that from just watching and AJ’s tweets. Also Howie had an opportunity to say it was all nonsense but rather focussed in on not trading great players,

Lots of reports say Brown hugged Hurts before he left. And Hurts said they are in a good place.

Hopefully a new OC does the trick, but either way we need to try and keep him for one more year and then we can see.

I think it's all reasonable speculation. There definitely seems to be something off between Brown, Hurts and Siri regarding the offensive design and his usage.

First of all, it's good to see you on the board. You've been missed (or maybe I just missed your posts).

About AJ - his tweets have always been convoluted to the point that the media and WIP callers can interpret them any way they want and saying they don't mean much doesn't generate clicks, callers, or views. Howie is shrewd. I believe he focussed on not trading great player in order to keep AJ's value high. All this noise might incite other teams to make offers. He's not looking to trade him, but on the other hand if someone offered a 1 plus Howie wold mull it over.

Man did you hit it on the head. REASONABLE SPECULATION is all it is. The more I think about it AJ himself, Jalen, and Nick all caused this whole narrative. AJ with his body language and dopey tweets, Jalen with his cryptic and comments and stoicism, and Nick with his stubborn support for Patullo and his own volatility.
