the only knock I would see is that NDSU didnt throw very much, Payton only threw more than 20 attempts three times this year. ( ESPN ) so his season average completion percentage of 72 percent might be a little misleading. Throwing only 4 INTs all year is fine, but unfortunately when you consider he threw a pick in four straight games, thats a little concerning.... however NDSU did actually win those four games, so I guess I would call it a push.

PFF has a 95.8 grade on him for this year and a passer rating of 127.8 with 162 comp on 225 attempts. He's actually the number 1 ranked QB on PFF, but with the small sample size and "lower tier" competition - do with that what you will.

However after having said all that - the last QB we drafted from North Dakota State worked out pretty well in the beginning.
