I created this because title threads are messed up with the board

I added my post (4th in chain) hoping it may sway the mods to leave it as stand alone and not merge with the other thread.

It's that last part that bothers me. It's still Nicks offense

A very hot up and coming coach from everything I've read. The only problem is, if we have a good year on offense he will be the head coach of another team by this time next year.

A cycle of the same stuff. One way or another I feel like he’s gone in a year. Also does this guy have enough clout to keep all of the egos on this team in check to include Sirianni? I sure hope so.

Well, bye...

Gone. Have fun watching an unwatchable offense again. 🤣

me too... however I'm quickly learning what kind of reputation Rusinni has around here so i'll wait and see.

nick needs to STFU and let Mannion do his job

Being pretty inexperienced I imagine Siri is going to be doing a lot of close supervision. I don't see any likelihood of a train wreck there, no sireerolleyes

I just hope he stays out the way. I will give the Eagles some credit though. They usually do their due diligence on these types of moves so this guy is probably going to be good which means he will probably be gone in a year.

With 3 years total coaching experience? Maybe .....

Rivers got an interview for the Bills job with zero years of experience. Owners seem to be willing to take chances to find the next McVey

Here are a couple of former Eagles play callers hired from GB while in their 30's and with no play calling experience.

🫣🧐😖😞😠

Even if this offense has a huge turnaround this season, I don't know if Mannion has enough coaching experience for a team to be comfortable hiring him as a HC right away. So perhaps he'll be a 2 or 3 season OC ... who knows?

You know what's frustrating? Fans hate Nick so much that they'll say this now, but if it's successful, then they'll say it's 'Mannion's offense' to give Nick no credit. And then if it fails, they'll point to it being 'Nick's offense', to justify getting rid of him. RIP.

I actually don't think there's any way for Nick to recover his reputation even if he wins two more SBs here. I think the only way is if we absolutely crater the hire afterwards.

Bold of you to assume you have "sway."

P

Anyway I locked the other one & pinned this one.

"Say this now"

It's being reported. Fans aren't making it up to confirm any biased hate for Nick

I think its safe to say that if this fails, Nick is gone too. Then hopefully they will have learned their lesson and hire a HC that can also call plays.

Influence != Entire offense is his

I can understand why people might feel that way, but yeah. I think some people think of Nick as like a Belichick level control freak and I'm like 'Hmm...' lol.

It could be considering we don't know the specifics yet. Influence could be it's his offense

Oh well, beggars can't be choosers.

He looks good. Bit raw but someone will probably coach him up. Definitely a HC candidate down the road if Siri soils his diapers while touching himself.

I am excited they finally got someone from the Kubiak/Shannahan/McVay system. They need something modern that can scheme open receivers and setup the PA boot game.

Anyone available as an OC from that tree that is established with playcalling experience is either already an OC, already a HC, or a top candidate for HC. All the options to get one for the Eagles didn't have playcalling and were young. At least Mannion was a 10+ year QB in the league playing in that system.

Hopefully it works out. And if there are bumps in the road hopefully he is given time to work through without Sirianni reverting to his worst instincts.

Talk about the Packers...Life sure was a lot simpler back in the sixties.

Buck Shaw managed to win a championship with 3 assistants (the only team to beat Lombardi in a playoff).

The following year, Van Brocklin retired and coached the fledgling Vikings (with 4 assistants).

Of course, teams only consisted of 40 players, many of whom assumed multiple roles.

You know, I appreciate that people like to say the Eagles are the only team to beat Vince Lombardi in a championship game, however the truth is that was Lombardi's FIRST championship. He went on to win the next 2 and then 3 more (including the 1st two SB's). We beat him in only his 2nd year as Head Coach. It's not like we beat him somewhere in the middle

Is this honestly a good hire? I don't know much about the guy, but I was really hoping for someone along the lines of a Kellen Moore type genius

It’s a low bar, all he has to do is get us back to the Super Bowl each and every year
