Unlike Brian Johnson, Kevin Patullo, and Juan Castillo (in his rookie roll as DC), Mc Dermott actually went on to have success at DC in Carolina, and then HC of Buffalo. Did he win the Super Bowl, no he didn't. He did, however, keep them competitive for years. At the end of the year that's all you can really ask for. Decades of "demanding" championships, did nothing for us.No no, it's not a problem with him. I just think going from Fangio to him would give him enormous shoes to fill, and I think it sets up a real negative with the fanbase. I can hear the 'why did we hire this bozo back already, Nick and McDermott should both be shipped right the hell out of here'. Lol.
February 2Feb 2 I think he did say this would be his last job when he took it. I hope he sticks around 1 more year. I can't blame him if he is just done. The D carried this pathetic offense all year. He is in his late 60's. I am honestly ok with whatever he chooses. He owes us nothing
February 2Feb 2 Did he not tell Nick and Howie this? They have year-end meetings to discuss the offseason plans. That would have been the time, and promote Parker.Timing seems strange.

He is 67 years old, has been coaching since 1979, has finally won a Super Bowl, and is just tired and done?Nah it can't be something like that.This. If he does retire - getting Schwartz back is the move. He wants out of Cleveland. May have to call him assistant head coach if they don’t let him go willlingly.

Wonder if part of the processing one does when contemplating this kind of move is the thought of having another completely inexperienced coach running the offense and therefore the likely need for your unit to once again carry the team ... that has to add quite a bit of extra pressure to the job.

February 3Feb 3 He needs to go. He has one foot out of the door. Which means to me he's only half invested, so bye.
February 3Feb 3 If Fangio coaches next year, he’ll be all in. I think everyone should have him figured out enough by now that there should be no concern about that.IMO, it’s clear that he’s tired of carrying the offense every single game last year and now that same overpaid offense prevents him from keeping his defense together heading into 2026…when he figures to have to get his defense to the level that they carry the team all over again.I’d retire in that situation too.

February 3Feb 3 It was known after his stint in Miami, that he was considering retirement. The Eagles should be ahead of this. Communication is always important during and throughout the season.

Also creates a succession plan. What a cluster. No one wants to work with Nick since he is such a clown. Are you two just joking or did y’all forget about the sticks defense?
February 3Feb 3 In the coming season as DC, Vic will need to coach the defense players. He also needs to coach his replacement from the assistance ranks. Give the man a raise for double duties.
February 4Feb 4 Sean McDermot hates us because idiots on the message board spelled his name McDermit when he coached the first game after Jim Johnson.

February 6Feb 6 All I can say is that if I were in my late 60's, was a coaching wiz and the best in the business, I'd make noise about retiring to jack up my pay.

Create a new role for Fangio like CEO of the defense and let him just offer guidance to a new defensive coordinator of his choosing.
February 6Feb 6 Jim Schwartz is leaving the browns and sitting out for the season. With Vic likely retiring after this season it seems very like Schwartz may be back as our DC next year.

I HATED the agony of watching teams get 1st down after 1st down on us when he was here. He uses a prevent defense CONSTANTLY, and it prevents the Eagles from winning. 🤣
February 8Feb 8 Heck, I'm 54 and ready to retire. Been working since I was 14. I can't imagine the stress that comes from being an NFL Coach. Well paid gig, but I'll gladly take a less stressful career over the almighty $$.Thank God my wife is rich. 🥰😊
