Here's what we know for sure -

1 - The Eagles are going to lose their starting CB2 (Adoree' Jackson) and WR3 (Jahan Dotson).

2 - They have $14 million in cap space after signing their draft class.

3 - It's another big free agent class with 5 starters in addition to the two above Phillips (edge), Goedert (TE), Dean (LB), Blankenship (S), Mann (P)

4 - They also have several contributors going into free agency. Big Fred (OL), Brett Toth (OL), Calcaterra (TE) and Uche (Edge), BG (Edge, Epps (S))

My prediction - it will be a great deal like last year. We'll see the lopn's share of our own go to other teams and we won't be making any splash signings.

This mock is based on the following -

1 - We keep Phillips, Blankenship, Epps, Uche and Mann. Phillips over Goedert is purely an age related decision on my part.

2 - Dean, Goedert, Dotson, Jackson, Calcaterra, Toth, and Big Fred fond other teams along with Howell, Dillon, Granson,,Pryor, Ojulari, Okoronokwo, and Nickerosn

3 - Huglett and BG retire

The draft -

1 - Olaivavega Ioane G Penn State 6'3" 348. Highest rated guard in the draft. Should replace Steen as a starter. ADiitionally, Steen is going into his contract year and Dickerson's health might be a question.

2 - Brandon Cisse CB South Carolina 6'0" 190 4.45. He fills the hole in the starting lineup.

3 - Elijah Sarrett WR Indiana 6'2" 209 4.42. A proven commodity to replace Dotson. It'll be nice to see WR3 actually getting open ao defenses can't completely keyon AJ and Devonte.

3 - Max Klare TE Ohio State 6'4" 240 4.8. A TE is an absolure necessity. All 3 of out tight ends are free agents. i wish this was a better tight end class but we need one and he's my pick at this sopt.

4 - Malachi Lawrence Edge Central Florida 6'$ 250. Even with re-signing Phillips there are only 3 Edge players on the roster.

4 - Michael Taafe S Texas 6'0" 195 4.50. I hope the Sydney Brown experiment is over - good special teamer but he can't play the field.

5 -

5 - Keyron Crawford Edge Auburn 6'4" 245 4.65. We have to fill the room and Llewellen is gone

5 - Sawyer Robinson QB Baylor 6'4" 220. We only have 2 QB's on the roster. Howell is a free agent and McCord signed with Green Bay.

Priority free agents -

Kicker - Drew Stevens, Iowa. Elliott has cost us too many games and too much heartburn. Time for a change.

FWIW,

FWIW,

I don't think Cisse will make it to our 2nd pick.

I remain optimistic that Goedert can be re-signed for another 1-2 seasons (and I would still pick Sadiq).

That sure is an impressive list of "priority" free agents...are you sure we'll have enough $$ to sign them all?

I sure would like to see an in-depth evaluation of their pros/cons/etc after the combine I guess.

Good question.

The Eagles have 54 players under contract plus thier 21 free agents. Let's guess thy sign 5 of their own FA;s and 5 from other teams. That's 64 players. The training camp roster is 80. That means they will be signing somewhere around 16 undrafted free agents. I listed 12 - 1 at each position.

Only the highest 51 players count towards the salary cap until the final cut down so those salaries don't count yet.

Rob why the change of heart on Loane I seem to remember in some of the earlier mocks you were totally against him.

I’ll let you slide on the replacing steen as a starter since you didn’t say day 1 and I view steen as a somewhat "surprise” trade candidate this offseason.

Rob and others,

Please don't take my comments too seriously. I only express my personal feelings. I certainly am not on the Eagles payroll and am in no way an expert.

We have all been exposed to an explosion of information over the last 25+ years with respect to the topics we discuss herein and for the most part we express our opinions while respecting the opinions of others. While I may express myself with "tongue-in-cheek" sarcasm on occassion, I mean no harm...just trying to express some humor.

We all get to express our deep feelings towards the Eagles on this messageboard. We should also have developed a deep understanding of just how complex administering an NFL organization is. Even though we all seem to have a consensus of where "we" need to improve, there are an almost inexhaustible range of sulutions. We are all working as amateur GMs in a vacuum while the true experts are working as a profeesional organization and they still make numerous mistakes. We're all human afterall.

Let's just enjoy this exercise and not take ourselves too seriously.

P.S. I didn;t really expect you to evaluate a list of UDFAs....I only have a casual appreciation for 2 of them. When it comes to focusing on them, it reminds me of shopping in the basement of Wanamakers the week after Xmas.

Well, i figured we absolutely need to fill 4 positions, CB2, WR3, TE, and Edge. When I saw that TE's could slip and figured (hoped) Phillips will re-sign it made room for an offensive lineman. Steen is going into his contract year so getting his replacement both positionally this year and rosterwise next year now makes sense

Did I write something that was bothersome. If so, sorry. I try to be informative and respectful, especially to regular contributors like you and if I didn't accomploish that I apologize.

Could you imagine if one of our offseason’s turned out even 75% like the actual offseason! While I would like to predict the perfect offseason it would be close to winning the lottery! I also like to excite conversations and may sometimes come across as an ass lol.. the banter seems to make for good conversation.

i wonder if the pros address the draft or n the same way, and i think they do to a degree.. you have your positions of need your players you like and your grades on them… I find myself sometimes in these draft exercises flipping back and forth between those and sometimes I ended up working my selections backwords to try and get what I feel is the best value.. I’m sure that is a method the eagles can’t rely on unless they have a lot of similar rated players.

Hey guys,

I in no way was denigrating any of your efforts...I just try to incorporate my perspective into the dialogue. I know this is not an exact science. I often look back at what I said a week ago and say "I could do better than that".

After many years of ruminating how the Eagles should conduct their postseason I stressthink I have developed modest sixth-sence as to how they will proceed. I consider it a continuing work in progress on both my part as well as the Eagles themselves. To say none of us know what they will do is realistic because they (Eagles) don't know either.

All I can do is factor in what I have observed over the years as to how they (Howie, etc) conduct themselves. What do we think we know?

  1. There will be an assessment of where they finished vs. where they thought they would accomplish.

  2. They identify both short and long term areas that need to improve.

  3. The touch base with numerous players and their agents.

  4. They determine how to get the best bang for their buck under the constraint of the salary cap.

  5. They try to plug as many holes as possible before they enter the draft...so they don't face undue stress to draft for need.

  6. They reach a consensus of how they value each prospect, with an emphasis placed on meeting the organization's ideal player profile.

  7. They do due diligence to determine what possible movement exists to move up/down in the draft order.

  8. They do numerous what if practice senarios to prepare to do battle with 31 opponents.

  9. They don't stop when the draft ends (ever).

    But what do they know?
