February 5Feb 5 God this effing sucks..... I want the Birds to win as much as anyone but I feel like this is a make or break year for Nick. If we miss the playoffs or we're one and done like this year - he's gone.
February 5Feb 5 Just as when you're at the North Pole every direction is South, it is almost certain that our next OL Coach will be a downgrade.😟
February 5Feb 5 Yeah, I guess we're about to find out how much was Jeff Stoutland and how much was having guys like Kelce, Johnson, Peters, Mailata, Brooks and Dickerson to work with. Did he produce the talent or did he just tell the talent where and when to block. Don't get me wrong I'm not happy to see him go but I do think this boards inexplicable rage boner for Sirianni is making this out to be a bigger issue than it really is, lots and lots of teams have produced good O lines without Jeff Stoutland. Are we still going to have generational talents at both tackle spots and left guard or are they leaving with him?
February 5Feb 5 I am not surprised by this. It felt like something was way off last year. The run and pass game were never married together. Looks to me like Sirianni and Patullo didn't make it better but made it worse and probably further fractured the dynamic within the team.Outside of that, the offensive scheme shift is going to be really big. I expect significant changes to how the OL is coached with how they drop back and blocking techniques all need to be married to the run/pass schemes and the QB footwork etc. My guess is Stout wasn't that interested in all the changes he might be asked to make etc. And I really hoped the pass game and run game coordinators were going to be exactly the way Mannion wanted it to be but I had hoped Stout would have jumped on board and been into evolving and helping make it all happen.Bummer.

It was weird all season how Stout skated on all criticism of the offense even though the O Line was a clear factor, some beat writers would raise Stout's name tangentially but mostly he was given a free pass, yes the injuries to Dickerson and Jurgens obviously had an effect but Mailata and Lane weren't at their usual level for most of the games they played either.Since it looks like the team wanted him back and will have him back in some capacity if he wants (although that seems like it would never work because him being in the building is going to affect a new hire), I guess Mannion asked for changes and he didn't agree with them.
February 5Feb 5 Terrible decision all round and the team will certainly be less capable without him In starting to hate Nick again.

You tell me there is nothing wrong inside the Eagles org- I'll wait.Lets be more specific. The problem is Siri and Hurts. Nobody wants to touch this offense.
February 5Feb 5 So let me get this straight. Dumb & Dumber pushed out the best O-line coach in the league so they could run their high school offense without Stoutlands input. Howie and Lurie actually let this happened.

February 5Feb 5 Stoutland was Chip's last gift that kept on giving. The Eagles more than cashed in on him. And if he was responsible for trotting out Jurgens and Dickerson while they were still injured week after week looking like absolute trash he deserved to be stripped and was probably time for him go anyway. Thanks for all the hard work and good luck. The Eagles will be fine.

I say this time and time on this board and it's something that a lot of people don't seem to grasp. More than one thing can be true at the same time. Stoutland is a great OL coach, but it was time to move on.For one thing, other than Becton, when was the last time Stoutland developed someone under the radar into a great OL? Jurgens and Dickerson were high draft picks. They have drafted SEVERAL guys on day three the last few years and the talk always was "they will go to Stoutland U and become good players" and it hasn't happened. Keegan, McMahon, Kendall, Hinton, Williams, etc. They haven't even gotten high level backups out of any of these guys. Steen was a fairly high pick in 2022 and if we are being perfectly honest he is a high level backup who hasn't really developed. Green was a former first round pick and everyone just assumed Stoutland would turn him into the next Becton and he didn't even make the team. My point is, Stoutland is a great OL coach but he isn't the miracle worker people have made him out to be and perhaps the game is passing him by a bit. Which leads me to my next point........It should be crystal clear based on this, and based on the hires of Mannion and Grizzard that this offense is going to look completely different in 2026 and beyond and it was time. If that means we need an OL coach with experience in the Shanahan/McVay run schemes / the willingness to adapt than so be it. At the same time IF Hurts and/or Sirianni doesn't adjust and adapt to that they will be next. The offense became stagnant in recent years and was bailed out by a historic season by an all time great RB and everything just kind of falling into place. It's time for change, for the offense and organization to adapt, etc. Also I don't care if it's Mannion or a big name guy, you can't bring in a new OC and say we want to run a new scheme and adapt and you can run your own offense, but you need to keep this OL coach who also wants to be the run game coordinator and do things his way. That just doesn't work. This doesn't mean losing Stoutland will work out but if they are going to commit to a real change to the offense this is necessary and I would be willing to bet this is more about the team wanting to go in a different direction than Stoutland choosing to walk away, no matter what is said out of respect for him.Excellent take, T. I thought the same thing about when was the last time we can say Stout actually developed a non-high round draft pick? I believe that was Mailata and he was drafted in 2018. Even with Becton, it was actually Sirianni's idea to try him at G. I love what Stout has done but maybe it is time to move on.My only issue is with this whole thing about Stout is seemingly how it was handled internally. It sounds like Stout most likely felt disrespected in how things were handled regarding his RGC duties and it's just not a good look for the organization.

February 5Feb 5 Nick is the one that should have been demoted and then posting a farewell to the organization. Fangio wants out, AJ wants out, and no respectable OC wanted anywhere near this team. When the HC cozies up and coddles the QB and wants to promote and hire friends, the rest of the league takes notice. The decline is upon the organization and the window has probably closed. 4 win season on its way.

I'm just reminded of when Kelce was talking last week about people within the Eagles leaking stuff as ass covering to make themselves look better and whether if someone (lets call him Mr Stoutland, no that's too obvious lets call him Jeff S) briefing a journo that Stoutland actually 'gave up the run coordinator title because he wasn't consulted enough when it was real bad last year' qualifies or not. Also given Dumber has been fired there's a whole new offense coming in and the team seem to have been more than willing to keep Stoutland on in whatever capacity he wanted, I'm going to need you to define 'pushed out'. Maybe it is true, or maybe it's just silly season and people are throwing any old fiction to an audience they know will swallow it up without question.
February 5Feb 5 New Offense, new Coaches. I have no problem with Stout leaving.Let's get some new, fresh, innovative, creative Coaches in here, for our next SB run.You can't just keep playing/running it back, year after year.

I want to know who was responsible for trotting out Calcaterra week after week for run plays whiffing block after block like he was in a ballet. Who thought it was wise to give Tank one carry a game when he was averaging 8 yards a pop?If Siri is the CEO coach and so good at it why was the team at the top of the league in penalties? He has one job, and he's not good at it.
