I thought this was odd. I thought Maye had a lock on it after the Rams Carolina game...then again after the Rams Chicago game.

Somehow everyone thought Stafford meant the most to his team.

That Rams team is loaded with talent, I would think that Maye had more to do with less?

Stafford lead the league in passing yards, with 4,700,while Maye had 4,400. Stafford threw for 7.9/att, while Maye lead all QBs with 8.9/att.

Stafford also needed 100 more attempts to get to 4,700 over Maye. Maye had 30 less completions to get those stats. That all leads to Maye having a better completion percentage (72%) than Stafford (65%)

Stafford did have 46 TDs compared to Maye's 31.

Lastly, Maye did what he did while getting sacked 47 times compared to Stafford at 23, which is an eye popping stat.

Ultimately I think Stafford won that MVP on the amount of TDs he threw. Goff was 2nd at 34, so it was a significant difference.

I think Maye should have gotten that MVP this year.

Its just a popularity contest voted on by self-important imbeciles.

One SoB voted for garbage Herbert as MVP

I think Josh Allen is overall QB1 over recent years but no way in hell was he even top 5 in MVP this year (he got 2 first place votes)

As a knowledgeable football fan you can just think of MVP more in terms of MVP level season.

McNabb had an MVP level season in 2004.

Wentz had an MVP level season in 2017.

Hurts had an MVP level season in 2022.

Randall had an MVP level season in both 1990 and 1998. He might have had a 3rd near those in 1988.

1990 was a lifetime achievement and SB award to Montana. In 1998 Terrell Davis had a better MVP level season.

In 1988 they picked Boomer over Randall.

Voting did not change how he played on the field.

In 1987 Jerry Rice had 23 TDs in 12 games between Young and Strike Scab Montana throwing to him.

  • Young had 10 TDs to 0 picks all in real games.

  • Montana had 31 TDs to 13 picks including strike games. He only played in 10 real games.

Voters split the vote 3 ways between completely undeserving Elway, Montana, and Rice, so Elway won the popularity contest.

Elway had 19 total TDs (all passes) and 12 picks. Rice had 23 TDs.

Reggie had 21 sacks in the 12 real games and deserved MVP ahead of Elway and Montana.

So the on the field MVP level players in 1987 were Rice and White. The voters soiling themselves did not change what happened on the field.

Giroux was NHL MVP in 2017-18. He was 2nd in points to McDavid who was on an awful Oilers team and 1st in +- of the top scorers.

The morons gave it to some 6th place NJ nobody who I can't name now because he helped them get to 15th place. (8th in the East)

The idiots voting did not change what happened on the ice.

Another way to think of it is as propaganda.

These same clowns can't stop giving awards to career 6 sack a season Jared Verse.

They want him to be Aaron Donald 2.0 but he is barely Donald's shadow.

Vote for your narrative and make your wish come true.

Who knows, maybe one day Jared Verse will be as good at hunting QBs as Mike Mamula was.

Stafford did all that while playing in the best division in the NFL. Maye was in the second worst division.

46 TD passes for Stafford??!! JFC.
