Some of our free agents might be cheaper to resign than we thought

I keep reading articles that Blankenship (around $7M), Goedert (around $6M), and Dean (cheaper than we think because of injury history) that makes me think that moving on from them might not be necessary. I would hate to not resign any of these and then have to trade for someone or pay for lesser talent. Are you guys hearing the same thing?

J Philips will obviously be expensive.

Fred might fall into the same bucket. Would rather him $2M than pay a bad player $1.5M.

Where are said articles? And who is writing them and putting this type of content out?

I've seem speculation that Parker wants to bring Blankenship to Dallas with him. No way a bidding war with Dallas ends at $7M.

Goedert made $10M this year after taking a haircut. Then he has a carreer best touchdown total. Do you really think he's going to take another $4M hit?

Dean's price might be reasonable, but how in the world do you keep 12t round pick Jahad Campbell on the shelf?

You're right about Phillips.

I think Fred is an interesting case. the Eagles running game was improved in the second half of the year. Guess what? Lane Johnson was hurt and Fred was the starter. When other teams realize this he's not going to be cheap.

"articles" meaning bloggers with opinions no different than fans on TATE just speculating.

People in dallas think everybody in the world wants to play there. So they make stupid articles like the one you read. If dallas had the money to pay him (which they don't), I can't see him breaking up the Exciting Whites unless the Eagles had zero interest in re-signing him.

Go ahead ... bring on the bidding war with dallas.

I shave my head. How much do you think I could make if I played today?

Yep - pure speculation.

I actually don’t think the estimates are too far out, but you have to factor in number of years etc.

I’d guess Blankenship would be looking for around 3 years 20 million. Not back breaking, but we need to pay Mitchell, Cooper, Davis and Carter.

They may just role with what they have and resign Epps and add a rookie.

TE is an immediate need. Even if they draft a rookie they will need a half decent veteran. Goedert for 2 years 14 million with 8 guaranteed makes sense if he will take it.

Even though you share a name with probably the most beloved Eagle fan ever, I don't think they'd pay you a dime.

But I’m worth a lot.

ESPECIALLY after the haircut!!!!

In what bizzaro world (Seinfeld reference) would Reed get more $ than Goedert?? 🧐😜

I read an article that dean's deal would project to about 8 million a year. I can't imagine it being that low.

Goedert and Blankenship will likely be signed early in FA and that always means the $$ will be elevated. Dean is an interesting one because yeah, teams who'd want him may hesitate due to injury concerns...which is a concern for us if we re-sign him (pending the deal). I'd love to have all 3 back AND resign Phillips, but that's highly doubtful.

This offseason is more likely to mirror 2025 where key players were lost in free agency (Sweat, Williams, Rodgers, Becton) and others moved on via other routes (CJGJ - traded, Slay - cut, etc). And I think free agency is likely to underwhelm like it did last year as well (Uche, Jackson, Dillon, Ojulari, etc.).

You don't think they'll get a deal done with Phillips? It'll be interesting to see how Howie handles the defensive contracts....notably Carter this offseason, Q and Coop next offseason, etc. But they almost need to resign Phillips...they can't count on Smith staying healthy and producing...hell, we may see Smith traded in order to help clear things for resigning Phillips.

They can't really count on Phillips staying healthy and producing either. He is in the same boat even worse with his injury history.

Because the official off-season hasn't begun and people are already saying this off-season has been horrible lol

Right. The only known changes are in coaching (Stout leaving sucks for sure).

We don't know yet what will happen with the players.

Phillips has had two serious injuries, an ACL and bicep. But they have been one off injuries and not recurring, Smith has had recurring bicep and shoulder issues. So pick your poison. My feeling is Phillips is the superior player. Hunt is priority #1 and I don't think they can afford Phillips and Smith long-term.

He has had multiple concussions going back to college had a serious wrist injury in college that he almost quit football because of it and multiple ankle injuries that's just college. Nfl has had concussions nagging ankle injuries tore his Achilles in 2023 and then his ACL with reconstructive surgery in 24 ( not his biceps) and a mcl sprain all on the same leg. Also had to go to therapy for depression because of all the injuries.

Welp ... there's always 2027!

Yup. It's starting to feel like the 2026 season will be a throwaway one.

We will get them in 2027! 🦅🦅

I obviously could be wrong, as I am a certified idiot.
