Nice Ray i actually had a similar trade in mind but abandoned my last idea when stout stepped away and haven’t went back to it yet. Think Mayer is a good trade target at TE even if we only have him for the last year of his rookie deal.

Add DT Otto Ogbonnia to the free agent list.Three thoughts - 1) I believe Woods will be gone. 2) We need a big body to replace Davis. 3) IMO a starting WR is a bigger priority than replacing Davis at DT if we sign Ogbonnia.

DeVonta Smith would be a No.1 receiver on most squads, Doubts would be a nice No.2.

As you know, I don’t think Howie will be able to sign both Davis and Carter to second contracts. It’s one or the other.

In a Fangio scheme you need a big bodied DT…a NT if you will…but if he resigns next year and someone with another scheme, like say Schwartz, takes over, you need a different wingman to Carter.

Our edge group will include Maxx Crosby, Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, Anthony Lucas and BG. That will do for now…

We’re heading into another complicated offseason.

Let’s dissect it;

1 AJ Brown

Still one of the best WR’s in the game but even after winning a SB, it’s become abundantly clear he isn’t happy here. The body language and lack of effort and commitment have been noticable. But what to do with a disguntled player like that?! If the cap implications weren’t that massive, they would have cut or traded him already.

Reality is that the cap hit is huge, especially if you trade him before june 1. And even after that date, he’s going to costs you. The other issue is that it’s going to be hard to replace him and you’re banking on Smith to be the guy going forward. Silver lining is that if you trade him, you’ll save a ton of money in 2027 and 2028. Money you can sign guys like Mitchell and DeJean with…

2 Jaelen Philips

Let’s cut to the chase; if you think he’ll give us a discount to stay in Philly, dream on! He’ll have a market and I believe Howie has a number in mind and will be priced out.

3 Maxx Crosby

It was rumoured that the Eagles were willing to part with a bunch of high draft picks and Jalen Carter to land Mycah Parsons but the Cowboys didn’t want to trade him in the division to a rival.

They were also into Miles Garrett.

Howie has been wanting to add an elite pass rusher to this team for years and I think he’ll make the Raiders a strong offer.

Getting back to the trade I suggested; Raiders are taking Mendoza No.1 overall but have glaring holes, especially on the OL but there are some bright spots on that team; new offensive minded coach and some elite weapons like TE Brock Bowers and RB Ashton Jeanty. Add AJ to the mix and you can focus on getting OL help during FA and the draft. Get in some good pieces there and Kubiak’s offense is set!

From Howie’s perspective he got rid of a player who doesn’t want to be here and landed an elite edge rusher in his prime and a quality TE (in the last year of his rookie deal).

The sacrifice is that he has to give up Jordan Davis but if he was willing to include Carter in a deal to land Parsons, I can see him having no problem parting with Davis.

Entire deal could even be done post June 1.

4 no Philips or Crosby

No problem! Strenght of the draft class is at edge and OL. Even at No.23 the Eagles could land a very good pass rusher.

All in all I’m not worried but it has become clear with the Mannion hiring, the offense is heading in another direction. Some kind of West Coast offense.

First domino’s that have to fall are AJ and Philips. In a couple of weeks we’ll know what will happen to one or the other and we’ll have a better feel what direction Howie will be heading in…

I’ve heard this Carter and draft picks for Parsons before but I swear when I listened to the podcast clip where he discussed it he said it was him and draft picks for Carter . I haven’t taken the time to look it up again and relisten.. regardless the raiders have a huge need at wr and AJ makes a ton of sense for them. I would hate to lose Davis but I think in the end it’s going to be so hard to pay both him and Carter so getting instant value and cap relief is a huge bonus.. I mean if you can hold off till after June 1st to make this trade it works out the best I just don’t know if it’s possible to play limbo that long… I mean you drafted a Dt in round 1 I assume in large part because of losing Davis it a june 1st trade will still have him on the team and I think have a lot of teams calling to see what the situation is for us at Dt.

The other option is to due it before the draft and eat the 43 million cap hit all this year… 21 million more then having him play the season.. the good news is Davis is on his 5th year contract and you save all of that trading him just under 13 million and you saved 8 million cutting Carter 11 so that covers the extra you had to eat just need to work the rest of it in.

You hit the nail right on the head. By including Davis in the deal, you save a chunk of money and you won’t have to worry paying not one but two DT’s top $.
