Posted February 23Feb 23 Bear with me folks, I;m a data junkieI've been looking at expected free agent signing costs on spotrac.com. I don't know if they're even close to being right, but if they are it makes me far more optimistic.i also recommend the recent article on the intracacries of the salary cap and the methons the Eagles use by Brandon Lee gowton bleedinggreen.nation.comIt's detailed but understandable and helps put things into perspecticce. Then I went to overthecap to see what each Eagles player is making and who could be restructured Here's the deal - Howie pays everyone the minimum and used signing and option bonuses to make the palyers happy. it creates dead cap hits in the future but as the cap goes up today's dollar is more vasluable than future $;s. So let's start - overthecap has the Eagles with $13M after draft class signing and factoring in practice squad costs. Cutting Michael Carter III adds $8.7M. Add another $2M by restructuring Steen (sure it creates dead cap in 2027, but this is 2026).Another $2M restructuring or Ojomo (can't extend yet). Do a long term deal with Jordan Davis using all the Hoiwie tricks and save $5M against the cap at a minimum. That's a total of $34M. All projected salaries are from Spotrac.comPhillips yearly contract value at $17.1M. Pay him $2M signing bonus of $18M and player option bonuses of $18M for 4 more years. Cap hit this year $5.5MDean $7.9 - wehave his replacement, so he's not coming backBlankenships # is $7.1 - minimum plus howie tricks can make it $4MGoedert - $6M, but let him walk. Toth $3.9M - get it to $2M with the salary manipulations. Epps $3.1 - anothe one that could come in at $2M Each of the backup tight ends $2.4 - i think we can do better for the same amount of $'sAdoree' Jackson $1.8 - jurt's out depending on FA's from other teasms and the draft. If he's resigned at all it'll be after the draft. Uche $1.8MBig Fred $1.5MHowell - $1.4M, only 2 QB's on the roster at present need 4 including one on the practice squad. Mann $2MSo the Eagles could spend $19.2M and get Phillips, Blankenship, Toth, Epps, Uche, Big Fred, Howell, and Mann back. The losses among players who were contriubtors would be Dean, Goedert, both back up TE's, CB2, WR3.So after spending $21.6M on our own we still have $12+M available. I'd spend: $$3.2M on TE Noah Fant$2.4m on CB Noah Igbinoghene from Washinfgton$2.5M on TE Daniel Bellinger$3.5M on WR Treylon BurksWith that group howie don't have to reach during the draft. Draft - 1 - OT Monroe Freeling, Georgia. Tackle room - Mailata, Johnson, Williams, Freeling, 1 too many so cross train 1 at guard. Pierce and Hinton = practice squad2 - CB Colton Hood, Colorado. CB room - Mitchell, DeJean, Igbenoghere, Hood, Bennett, McWilliams 3 - TE Max Klare, Ohio State - TE room - Fant, Bellinger, Klare, Jenkins, Latu (3 plus 2 practice squad)3 - WR Malachi Fields, Notre Dame. WR room - AJ, Devonte, Burks, Fields, + 1 or 2 of Cooper, Wilsn, Covey, Watkins4 - S Jaylon Kilgore - South Carolina. S room Blankenship, Mukuba, Epps, Kilgore. I think we've seen the last of Sydney Brown4 -DMalachi Lawrence, - Central Florida. Edge room Phillips, Smith, Hunt, Lawrence, Payton 5 - QB Cole Payton - North Dakota State5 - Edge Patrick Payton - LSU. priority free agents - LB, LS, QBFire away!
February 23Feb 23 Read that article too was informative.. can’t say I’m into Fant but the other 3 additions are alright… I think Fields get drafted higher I’ve seen him even in the first round but mostly second round think late third is a reach. At the moment I would say he is the top wr on my eagles draft board.
