Plus acquiring Greenard would also require having to sign him to an extension ... he is signed through 2027 but his current contract carries cap hits of >$20M these next 2 seasons, so it would obviously be more beneficial to have a player on a cheaper rookie contract.

For me, much would depend on the draft pick and contract. But as far as SB aspirations are concerned for 2026, a player like Greenard would be much better to have vs. a 3rd round pick...especially if it's pick 98. I bet that, if they are discussing a trade, they're probably haggling over it being pick 68 or 98. If that's actually the case, maybe they'd do something like a swap of 3rd round picks...Vikes have pick 82 in the 3rd...if we gave them 68 and got back 82, that's the equivalent of a 4th round pick in value. Maybe we'd have to throw in a 5th or something. I'm all about the draft being offense dominated. And I'm sure they will want more at Edge. Don't want that need interfering with being offense focused. But that's just me.

Why else would we give him up for what was basically a bag of peanuts after having just re-signed him the prior offseason? And he seems to do that at every stop. We dealt him to the Texans who cut him after only a few weeks. He then goes to the Ravens where he is cut only a week later. He was only in Chicago for half a season and they made no effort to bring him back.

He has more learning to do obviously, but is also currently a starting caliber safety. We don't really have a 2nd one, though.I was more optimistic about Sydney Brown after his rookie season, than I am today. Maybe he can surprise and put it all together, but he would probably be a bubble player if we had more legit contenders in the room today. I actually liked Tristin McCollum over him in our defense. So Makuba and Carter are likely the 2 "starters" at this point. We'll have to see who is added. I don't think that is a terrible situation, but we need to make sure they are challenged.

There is no putting it together for him with his lack of football IQ.Mukuba and Carter would absolutely be terrible. First of all, Mukuba has 10 NFL starts at safety and Carter has zero. Second and more importantly having two starting safeties under 6'0 and 190 lbs is just a disaster waiting to happen. They had better have a plan to add a couple of guys to the position, with the least they should do being to bring back Epps and draft someone on day two or early day three.

He’s way too small to be a starter. I would rather have Epps in there.
