Big frame (6'6", 267 lbs), excellent blocker and in-line TE, not stiff as a pass catcher, can break tackles. Ran a 4.7 40 at the Combine. Likely early day 3 pick.

I like him the the Oregon Duck.

I like him...he's an ideal 3rd round target....doubt he'd last til the 4th for us, but who knows.

day 3 pick for me. probably late day 3 by the time he rises to the top of my list. Hes maybe a nice TE3. I sure hope they have a better plan at the position.

I think he is better than you are giving him credit for! But I did have a mock off-season where I added Cade otten, Charlie Koehler and Roush as my three new tight ends

He's a day 3 pick ...

Agreed. I did state that in my original post.

I think you guys are underestimating Roush. He's 6' 6",267 lbs, has excellent blocking skills and was used primarily as a blocker at Stanford. He showed out pretty good at the Combine with a 9.9 RAS. He's exactly the kind of TE this team needs and I'd be willing to wager he will be drafted on Day 2.

Right now he's graded as a late 4 or 5-early 6 ... I wouldn't have an issue if we took him at 122 but I prefer Klare and hoping we take him or he lasts for us at a 3rd rounder.

We should also be receiving a comp pick in the 3rd so..I still think we need to draft 2 with our cap situation and my 2nd late TE would be Cueves from Alabama..that's your blocker right there,

he's Runyan at TE..a nasty attitude running with the ball and blocking

That's gonna change.

Klare is primarily a receiver who needs to work on his blocking skills. Obviously none of us are "scouts". But I wonder which trait is harder to master in the NFL...being an effective blocker or pass catcher? Calcaterra was known as a better receiver and just could never learn how to block.

It'll be interesting to see what the Eagles do at TE, assuming Goedert leaves.

I like Roush as a later pick. Id focus on him and Cuevas from Alabama. Need to remake the TE room. Need guys that can block and be mentored by Mundt.

Good late round targets, I just hope we can do better. I think there are some potential stars in the first 2 maybe 3 rounds. My immediate starter tier ends with guys like Royer and Raridon.

Then I have some guys Id like to start as a TE2 for a year first.

Roush and Cuevas are guys who I see as TE3s.

Just to clear this up, I did not create this thread because I view Roush as a TE1. We had a clear need for a blocking TE on the DC at the time (the Mundt signing kind of addressed that). Even though we re-signed Goedert and added Mundt (and Lord knows why we brought back Calcaterra but maybe his spot isn't safe), I am still hopeful we address the position in the draft next month with a pick (or possibly 2). Give me a Klare on day 2 and someone like Roush on day 3.

I believe you. Some people are really high on him for some reason. Hes a nice player. We should have targets throughout the draft. Nothing wrong with calling it like it is- hes a late round target that should not be seen as a solution at starting TE. But still a good addition to the team. You and I seem to be on the same page.

We are in the dark about what TE best fits the new offense. We've seen it all in recent years. AR era mostly featured TE1's that were glorified slot wrs. Ertz was like that too. Celek became a pretty good blocker over the second half of his career. Goedert was the most balanced TE we've had. This became a running offense and a TE who was an asset run blocking became very important.

We don't really know where Mannion is going to go with this.

I never really cared for the 6'2" 230lb 4.4 athlete TE's. They bulk up so that they can masquerade as blockers. And with the added mass...they can never really move quite the same way as a dedicated WR...although the opposing defense often treats them as one.

I think you tend to gain better mismatches out of the bigger TEs, especially when you find one with genuine receiving skills. Their blocking ability prevents defenses from treating them like a WR. They are going to punish DBs once they do get the ball. And if they run decent routes, it's going to be a pain in the ass for a LB to hang with them.

I think the best TE's in the NFL tend to be the bigger guys.
