Well that was a short play-off run, the Niners now have officially made this a rivalry and unfortunately they've got the bragging rights. I think all of us saw this coming and I for one wasn't surprised, but at the same time the culture and schemes had become a bit stale and needs a change and breath of fresh air. Mannion is a complete unkown but seems to be well respected and considered extremely intelligent my hopes are he not only rights the offense but makes it the envy of the league. We shall see.

Eagles will get pick #23

Howie's priority will be to re-stock the o-line, find a #2 CB, Brown, Phillips, Goedert

Drastic changes have come and will continue to come, buckle up!

Retirement:

Brandon Graham Edge - I know he would like to come back but I just don't see it happening and eventually he decides to hang em up.

Re-signings cap space: 13.6 million

Jalen Carter DT/DE - Howie has always believed in signing key talent early to get ahead of the market so to speak and this is his biggest fish in awhile. Jalen is a stud even after missing significant amount of game due to injuries and stupidity his value to the defense is unquestionable. The hope is his maturity will grow to meet his physical ceiling and if it does he'll be an all-pro and leader of the best defense in football! Howie exercises the fifth year option so this is an extension for 4 years 120 million and after a massive signing bonus lowers his 2026 cap impact by 4.5 million.

Jordan Davis DT/NT - I'm positive Howie told Jordan come into 2025 in shape play to your potential and you'll get yours. Well Jordan showed up big he was arguably our best d-lineman showing maturity with new found resolve. A monster in run defense his athletic ability is now finally starting to shine, he's always commanded double teams to block but now he's learned how to carve through them forcing QB's back and out of their comfort zone. Jordan is still young with sky potential in front of him. 4 years 72 million extension and signing bonus which cuts his 2026 impact by 9.3 million

Dallas Goedert TE - Dallas gets the chance to fill out his career with the same team that drafted him and also gives the Eagles another home town discount. Jalen trusts Dallas and anybody that studies Jalen's habits knows that trust is major factor in his decision to throw to. 2 years 21 million frees up 12 million in cap space.

Tyler Steen OG - Regardless of what some fans want to believe Tyler was a top 15 rated guard in the league last year, Howie has said he is highly regarded inside the organization and is in their long term plans. Tyler played very well in a bad situation and is expected to only improve with another year starting a new scheme, and stability on both sides of him. 4 years 41 million extension freeing up 2 million in 2026

Adoree Jackson CB - He played pretty bad to start the year however he improved significantly as the year wore on and he became more comfortable in the scheme. 1 year 3 million

Sam Howell QB - There's zero chance the Eagles go into training camp without a veteran on the roster and decide to roll it back with Sam. 1 year 5 million

Nolan Smith Edge - I believe Howie will use his fifth year option which doesn't effect the 2026 cap.

Trades:

A.J. Brown WR - There will be a trade market for A.J. with multiple teams competing with the Patriots winning paying Howie's price #31, #65 & #125. A.J. and Siriani IMO can no longer co-exist and after listening to him and Howie answer questions about his future with the team I think its a done deal. A.J. also IMO quit on the team and I can't see him buying into a new run based offense that will look to spread it out more often instead of only focusing in on one WR. The Patriots get their clear cut #1 WR, for them just getting him and pairing him up with Drake Maye makes it a good draft. The trade really does hurt costing 20.3 million additional dead cap hit but long term it frees up 166 million in future cap hits.

Tanner McKee QB - Howie loves having his QB factory that flips mid round investments to higher end picks and with Dante Moore going back to Oregon the talent pool just really dried up and a bidding war does happen with multiple teams showing interest. The Jets after using their first two picks on LB, and WR still need a QB win the war, they offer #33. Cap savings 1.1 million

Cuts/Let go:

Jaelan Phillips Edge - Jaelan came in and instantly improved the pass rush and the defense overall, but he's going to be possibly the top FA out there and he's going to get paid. My one major issue with Jaelan is he generates good pressure but doesn't seal the deal with the sack, further more he seems to disappear in big games 49ers, Cowturds, etc. Howie IMO lets this fish hit the open waters, hopefully to a **** AFC team. 3rd comp value.

Nakobe Dean LB - Nakobe is a damn good linebacker but the future is Campbell and like with Phillips someone offers a better deal. 4th round comp value.

Fred Johnson OL - He wants to start and he wants to get paid and he too finds a better deal. 5th round comp value.

Reed Blakensip S - His play overall has gotten worse every year since he was a rookie, but someone gives him a fair deal. 5th round comp value.

Jahan Dotson WR - IMO he's a smaller version of Smitty that doesn't run good routes. 7th round comp value

Josh Uche Edge - Started off the year strong but faded badly after the bye. 7th round comp value

Michael Carter II NB - Played solid in relief duty for DeJean but he's certainly not worth his current cost. 8.8 cap savings.

Jakorian Bennett CB - He blows 1.1 million cap savings.

Braden Mann P - He's been ok but not exceptional.

Free Agency: 21+ million in cap space

Bradley Chubb Edge - With departure of Phillips the Eagles give Fangio a huge consolation prize with someone who is literally an ideal fit for both the player and scheme. Bradley at 6'4 265 lbs will now be over a year removed from a nasty injury but was still able to put up 8.5 sacks last season. He's exceptional at setting the edge shutting down the run and funneling them inside while also being more than athletic enough to drop into coverage which is a must for the scheme. This could be his final deal of his career. 3 year 36 million 2026 cap hit of 9 million

Nick Cross S - Regardless of what Reed gets in FA Howie was going to upgrade the position seeing it was a severe liability most of the season. Nick is only 25 with solid size for safety at 6'0 215 with elite 4.35 forty speed that brings top end tackling ability and physicality in the run defense. His coverage has improved remarkably well every year he's played showing the ability to take on the best of TE's and anyone else across the middle. 3 years 22 million off-sets 5th round comp for Blakenship. 4 million 2026 cap hit

Draft:

#23. Monroe Freeling T - Howie will work hard to address the o-line in this draft early and often, Johnson has one more year left and I doubt he can make an entire season healthy it's only prudent to prepare now. Monroe is a lean mean beast coming in at 6'7 315 lbs he displays elite level agility with rare athleticism and movement skills for someone that big. With rare lateral agility Monroe easily mirrors speed rushers off the edge stunning them with an impressive first step which is a real advantage for him. Blessed with a monstrous wingspan of 84 inches to go with a proactive punch he's constantly working on his hand placement to achieve a clean punch. His pass protection skills are good showing significant improvement year over year and he's really starting to show a lot of nasty in that he'll dominate his opponent planting him in the dirt just to look down on them. With time to add experience and possibly 10-15 lbs functional strength to his core his run blocking will significantly improve especially after learning behind two of the best.

#31. Omar Cooper Jr. WR - Mannion scheme looks for more speed with versatility than physicality (even though it still important) from their wide-outs especially since they will be using play-action. Omar is exactly what this new offense is looking for a vertical threat with a good size to speed ratio at 6'0 205 lbs with 4.4 speed, he'll move the sticks boasting one the highest YAC's in the nation. Able to work all three layers of the field Omar from out wide or in the slot his versatility will open up an offense. With the ball in his hands he reminds me of a lot of a faster Deebo Samuel bowling through tacklers with impunity and power that an arm will not work. Incredibly reliable hands with a drop rate under 5% he also has a good catch radius plucking the ball easily away from his body showing his natural tracking ability while also winning most 50/50 contests. As a strong and willing blocker he sets his blocks up like a pro already, and actually seems to enjoy the physicality of it too! Ironically the pick given to the Eagles for AJ is now used to get Omar!

Trade! A QB falls within reach for the Dolphins and they offer #43 & #90 for #33

#43. Chris Johnson CB - Depth at corner is still an issue if one of the top three go down we get Ringo yikes! Chris at 6'0 195 lbs with 4.4 speed has some of the best instincts of any corner in this draft showing elite technique and tremendous confidence. He's sticky in his coverage mirroring receivers with smooth fluid hips that allow him with transitioning with route breaks showing top NFL veteran level discipline rarely does he ever get penalties. A play-maker he tracks the ball with the perception that the ball belongs to him, displaying a real fighter mentality to acquire it, he attacks the catch point with run through force and is a tenacious wrap-up tackler who can quickly end plays. As a stout run defender he's constantly taking on runners with ill intentions bringing a real pop in his strikes. He instantly challenges Jackson to start opposite of Mitchell winning easily.

#54. Gabe Jacas Edge - Edge was a clear liability in depth last year hence the reason for the emergency additions(Graham, Phillips, Z. Smith) in season and could still use some attention. Gabe has the size 6'3 265 lbs that Vangio prefers in a edge rusher who can also maintain gap integrity. Has an exceptionally strong core to withstand power using his upper level leg strength to stand up lineman to beat them setting the edge. As a pass-rusher he bully's lineman on his way to the QB using an impressive bull rush and violent hand usage. Versatility is his biggest asset able to play with his hand in the dirt while also showing the ability to drop into coverage like Hunt does so well. A team captain his wealth of experience will allow Vic to further open up a deep playbook and sub-packages.

Trade! The Steelers are targeting Malachi Fields and offer #76 & #121 for #65

#68. Keylan Rutledge IOL - Who knows if Dickerson or Jurgens will ever return to pro-bowl form if not though they sure do need some insurance and Freeling and Miller are good start, but we need better players early. Keylan is the perfect interior lineman for Mannion's scheme being 6'4 320 lbs he has tremendous lateral agility going along with versatility to play all three interior positions and play them at a top level. Considered to have a high level of nastiness to his game he absolutely enjoys mauling his opposition, as an ultra competitive player he finishes each block with bad will and then some on to the next level. The man is a tone setter who I can see being a future starter anywhere inside the interior he has that much potential.

#76. Darrell Jackson Jr. DT - Depth was a major issue for the front three with Carter out for multiple games the line got exposed at its weakest point most often that was B. Young. Darrell is a massive man at 6'7 335 lbs with an impressive 7-foot-2 wingspan who's versatility to play end in a 5-2 formation or NT in 3-4. Fangio asks for his defensive lineman to take on double blocks to free up the linebackers and when lined up with Davis and Carter that would be one hell of a heavy front to stop the run or goal line front's. Known as a "tree trunk" his ability to shut down runners will be huge since early and late in games teams would easily gash the defense until it adjusted. Displays leadership traits coaches covet, earning the Bobby Bowden Leadership Award and his pairing with another vocal leader Davis will pay dividends for years.

#90. Jalon Kilgore DB - The secondary suffered through injuries or inconsistent play and when its depth was challenged it failed badly Ringo, Bennett and Brown literally cost the Eagles a games. Jalon has the prototypical defense crave in their secondary 6'1 210 lbs with 4.4 speed very good athletic ability and is a ball-hawk. His versatility to play corner, nickle, or safety will allow Vic to use him as a valuable chess piece to disguise the coverage while providing some insurance in case Makuba isn't 100% ready. His high football IQ allows him to quickly diagnose plays post snap with a disciplined execution that's important to Vangio and will see a lot of action in cover 4 and 6. Strong in run defense he comes down hill in a hurry with a willingness to hit hard.

#98. Mike Washington Jr. RB - Barkley may have lost a step with a real possibility of being cut after this season and Bigsby and Shipley being free agents a future replacement needs acquiring. Mike at 6'1 225 lbs is a big bodied ultra fast one cut and go back with explosive athleticism a high football IQ, and elite vision to take it to the house! His jukes are something serious leaving would be tacklers ankles broken and for those who are dumb enough to solo tackle him he punishes with joy having averaged over 6 yards a pop. As a receiver he shows soft reliable mittens plucking the ball away from his body and once in his hands he is a serious YAC threat. A more than willing blocker he shows the instincts to pick up rushers with the strength to impact them. Mike competes with a chip on his shoulder and he plays with a passion for the game.

#121 Brenen Thompson WR - Speed!!! With a new scheme comes a new focus and one thing the offense has lacked since Quez is someone that can blow the top off a defense. Brenen is a former track star who won gold in the 200 meter and silver in the 100 meter dash translating to an acceleration curve that is almost unfair. With elite level speed in the 4.2's he absolutely eats corners alive in the vertical game, he commands a safety to play over him taking away not one defender but multiple hindering the defense's ability to stack the line. Displaying natural hands with top notch tracking ability he just seems to place himself under the ball easily like a center-fielder it's like watching a small Ken Griffey Jr out there. Get Brenen in space with the ball and defenses will pay hell to try and corral him, line him up anywhere you like he's going to create instant mis-matches. Howie has learned elite speed is nice but without the production to back it up it's useless and Brenen backs it up.

#122. Oscar Delp TE - Goedert is still a stud and in a new scheme he's going to become the focal point of it, however there's nobody of value behind him. Oscar is prototypical TE that the league craves at 6'5 245lbs with soft hand a explosive first step off the line he provides a real threat down the seam. With elite speed for the position sporting a 4.5 forty with top end athletic ability he should be a huge upgrade for the #2 TE. Also showing solid blocking ability with a bit of authority will only improve his playing time. With a frame that can add more core strength and his high football IQ by year two he could be in real battle to be TE1

#125. Bryce Lance WR - Sean Mannion will be looking for his version of Christian Watson and luck would have it that they get a near clone from the same program. Bryce is a perfect fit in Mannion's scheme being a natural X-receiver possessing great size 6'3 210 lbs and with 4.3 speed he's got the wheels to keep defenses on their heals. Strong with winning contested catch having a 66% win rate he's a reliable target who's a real YAC threat able to generate a lot of yards in chunk and when play action is called he'll be yet another deep threat. Shows a real mean streak and that really shows when he's asked to block.

#137. Sam Roush TE - The Eagles will deploy more two and three TE sets and with how dreadful they were overall especially when called upon to block and more attention to the position is needed. Sam exploded onto the scene after a very good combine and someone at 6'7 265lbs to run a 4.7 while putting up impressive movement skills. Being known best as a very good run blocker he also showed he has reliable hands too.

#151. Fred Davis II CB - Eagles have shown a lot of interest here and I think they view him as a potential starter down the road or at least someone that can really provide good depth. Fred at 6'0 200 lbs with 4.29 40 speed matches what the Eagles are looking for. Solid in coverage especially press while also being a physical corner who's a good tackler.

#179. Parker Brailsford OC -With how bad the interior of the line played especially Jurgens the need for depth here to push and/or provide real insurance. Howie loves Alabama lineman so this just makes too much sense.

2027 Picks 1, 2, 3(own), 3(comp), 4(own), 4(comp), 5(own), 5(comp), 6, 7, 7 This draft is being projected to be exceptional in talent

Breakdown:

Offense:

QB - Jalen is the starter and the leader offense and team, he's going to be expected to pick up an entirely different scheme and it's a crucial year for him and I expect him to step up. Howell IMO is a known #2 option that can be trusted to come in when needed to seal the deal. King comes in being a raw #3 but someone who looked really good with the new OC at the Shrine game. It would be nice to have added a QB earlier in the draft but the needs were greater elsewhere.

Wide Receiver - Devonta is now the undeniable #1 WR with expectations for him to take his game to another level like he was last before A.J. started pouting. Smitty has always been the silent one letting his play and actions do his talking for him and the F.O. is betting that the new guys will follow his lead. He's going to be used all over the field to achieve miss-matches and will be rotated a lot between the Z and slot positions. Omar gives Mannion the versatility to also play inside or out with the speed, strength, and competitiveness to grind fight for the extra yards. Thompson is the home-run threat Jalen hasn't had since Watkins who couldn't catch a cold not alone a football. With sub 4.3 speed Brenen reliable hand and route running allows the offense to do so many new things Eagles fans just haven't seen before. To round out the top four the teams new X-receiver Lance is the bigger receiver required for the position, but Bryce brigs 4.3 speed running solid routes, giving the offense a range of different types of receivers. With a new focus of everyone feeds this would the best four receivers on paper in modern Eagles history,

Tight End - Dallas comes back to the lead the group but with significant upgrades behind him, and he'll be expected like Devonta to lead a young group with the hope that his blocking comes back to form. Delp is the super fast athletic tight end who's raw but contains massive potential. Known as strong blocker that has shown he can hold up against some of the best SEC rushers there are. Roush is the biggest in line TE on the team and like Delp has been used mainly as a blocker but when needed has shown to be a good receiver too. Latu returns as a solid #4 if needed and good special team player.

RB/FB - Barkley is the undisputed leader of a strong unit and with a new scheme behind a healthy and deep line should return to form taking over games and the clock. Bigsby will return as the quick thumper that takes multiple tacklers to bring down. Washington Jr. is the workhorse type of back who will have to fight for playing time but on the with elite speed he is the real home-run now and moving forward and is Barkley's replacement long term. Jackson Amber is the new FB considered a true road grader he should help considerably in blocking.

O-line - Surprisingly nobody retires and with an extend off-season to rest and recoup the line comes back healthy and strong. The difference is Howie is prepared with high level talent coming in via the draft with Freeling, Rutledge and Brailsford potential being the future starters at RT, LG and possibly even OC. Freeling will be the swing tackle with Rutledge being called on first anywhere needed on the inside, with Brailsford competing with Kendal to back-up Jurgens. Two massive miscalculations were made by Howie last off-season that was hoping that Dickerson and Jurgens could come back from surgery 100% healthy, and not having invested more capitol into depth relying on late round picks to develop and fill in. Not this time and in typical Howie fashion he not only doubles down but triples down.

Defense:

D-Line - Arguably a top 3 defensive line in the NFL with Carter, Davis, Ojomo being all studs the only weaness is they're so good they're always on the field so by late in the game they were gassed. Drafting Jackson Jr. will give Fangio so much more flexibility especially when comes to shutting down the run, Carter if 100% healed will be in play for defensive player of the year, his injuries really limited a good line from being great. Davis is the leader of the group now and he'll continue to show why he was worth the wait. Ojomo will be playing for a monster deal next off-season which should now just be that much easier with the guys around him drawing multiple blockers.

Edge - Like the front three depth last season was a joke wearing down the starters and it compounded with Smith's injury. Nolan is going to be expected like Carter to finally take the next step become the cornerstone of the pass rush while still shutting down the run as he does. Hunt is the play-maker of the group generating interceptions he just always seems to be in the right place at the right time, and I can also see 12+ sacks from him this season. Chubb will start opposite of Smith because of he's stout against the run and is better at slicing and powering through blockers than Hunt is at this point. Jucas will be a Graham's replacement in the rotation and with his capacity to generate pressure while also being able to drop in to coverage will be huge.

Linebackers - Literally the only unit not lacking in talent or depth with now plenty of experience. Campbell is a beast that's barely scraping the surface of his true potential and going into year two the expectations for him are sky high and IMO there won't be a drop off from Dean. Buan will lead the group providing his typical game changing ability with consititent reliable tackling. Trotter Jr. is really starting to push for more time and I can see Vangio using him more often this season.

Safeties - The unit is now far more talented and for younger than it's been in years. Makuba play improved the more he started last season, he is a ball hawk and good deep centerfielder he just has to improve his tackling but if healthy I'm expecting possibly six interceptions. Cross will make great pairing with Andrew providing far more range and athletic ability than Blakenship while having the size needed to play up on the line with the speed to be an impact blitzer. Kilgore will be the flex DB that can rotate as the third safety or move to nickel depending on situation.

Cornerbacks - The teams top two corners happen to be two of the best in the league the problem was last year depth, which was reocurring theme for last season, Howie learns fast though. Mitchell is a top 3 corner in the league and this is the year his name is known by most fans around the league. DeJean is a top 3 nickel easily while as being the swiss knife of the secondary, being crucial to Fangio's plans. Jackson returns for one last year proving he can at least be reliable most times, this time he's just keeping the seat warm for... Chris Johnson who's been one of may favorite player to watch, he's confident and extremely good and Vic is going to enjoy this kids football savvy. Davis I will provide yet more needed depth because I never want to see Ringo start again. Kilgore versatility will again be a critical chess piece again providing depth for DeJean. Dime and quarter packages will get a massive upgrade with mutliple DB's able to actually cover.

Special Teams:

This unit gets a massive make over with a new place kicker and a new punter both being high rated college recruits. Coverage and blocking units just got much more talented with hungry players looking to make a name and earn future starting spots. The returners are electric with home-run threat capabalities something that's been missing for a long long time and should be taken seriously.

My goal was to lower the amount of cap space tied up in WR moving on from Brown with three play-makers on first year rookie deals, which allows Howie to sign his young defensive players moving on most notably Mitchell, DeJean and possibly even Ojomo and Trotter Jr.. Defense will be expected to carry the team hence the reason on multiple young players invested for depth, but like they say a defense's best weapon is a good offense which I think they'll get. Last before someone says but 14 draft picks thats upsurd! Well I challenge you question them IMO depth was that sorry last season.

Thanks for bearing through the read enjoy!

Wow…just wow! You must have been brewing on this one for weeks! 😂Awesome analysis and inside. 👊🏼

In a lot of ways we’re thinking alike. Howie playing the comp pick game, AJ out which will save us a ton of cap space in the future with which we can sign our young core on defense, Chubb replacing Philips for less, huge fan of Cooper and agreed he’d be a perfect fit in the offense Mannion will likely run, bringing in not one but two TE’s who can seriously block (very important in this scheme), bringing back Goedert so we won’t have to eat 20 million over the next two years, uploading on receivers, bringing back Jackson as a placeholder for Chris Johnson (who will likely take over the starting job during the season), bringing in a vet safety who will cost less than Blankenship and pair him with Mukuba and Kilgore, drafting a RB in Washington who’ll likely see playing time behind Barkley, a monster of a guard in Rutledge, a DT in Jackson (we’ll lose Ojomo after 2026, probably another 4th round comp pick in 2027) and of course an uber athletic OT in the first (while raw but we have Lane taking him under his wings).

Can’t give you enought credit for this one. I’ll likely stop doing mocks now cause what you did here just can’t be topped.

Truly awesome job and hopefully Howie will get something like this done! Thanks for the awesome read! 👊🏼

Ton of work and awesome thoughts backing what you did!! That sure is a lot of draft picks I love it but definitely feel with that many picks howie tries something to flip a pick for 2027 other then that awesome.

Great work Slade, glad you're back on the forum.

It's truly fun to digest the depth of thought you've put into this post.

i'm with you on retirements and re-signingss.

Free agency - I;m ok with your guys AND I would add a proven veteran wide reseiver. I;m just not comfortable with Devonte plus rookies, our own Cooper, Wilson. Austin, Mooney, Allen, Tolbert and that ilk should be affordable.

The draft - I've read your justifications and they are well done and thoughtful. There's a couple I disagree with but that doesn't come close to a criticism of the overall post. You did a great job. Thanks.

Freeling - A

Cooper - A

First trade - nice move

Chris Johnson - A

Jscas - B, I'd rather Dennis-Sutton

Rutlidge - B, if Howie and company are really fearful of Jurgens and Dickerson's future the IOL should be addressed earlier.

Jackson - D, I'm not about to give up on Robinson and Youong played well. DT is one of 2 positions we don't have an immediate need.

Kilgore - A, love the pick. I;m afraid he might be gone at 90 so I'd likely take him in place of the Jackson selection.

Washington - D, another pick at a position without a need. If we keep Steele or VanSummeran that's 4 at the RB/FB positon so I don't even see a roster spot for him. This you be my slot for a QB3 - Allar, Beck, Klubnick

Thompson/ Lance - B, Individually, they're A's but if we sign a vet there might not be a roster spot for both.

Delp - B, much needed, only issue I might have is that he will probably be gone

Rousch/Davis/Brailsford- No scores on late picks. They're always a shot in the dark.

To comments I hope you take as constructive criticism -

First. No limebacker? With Dean leaving we'll need one.

Second. do you really think Howie will draaft 14 players?

UDFA - I love the fact you took a shot at this. Well done

I'd be uncomfortable with an UDFA as my 3rd QB. Prtactice squad, no problem, but not my 3rd QB.

Thanks again. Glad to see you back and posting.
