It's a valid point of concern. Credit the team for having a dominant D pretty much throughout the Sirianni era save a couple of big hiccups in 2023. Many thought that Christian Parker may have been the heir apparent to Fangio. Perhaps. And there were rumblings that Jim Schwartz might come back to the fold. But Schwartz does run a different scheme and that would require mucking with the roster, perhaps more than the team would like.

For my money, I'd keep my eye on Mike Pelligrino. He oversaw a strong defensive backfield in Buffalo before coming to Philly. What rising young coach would pass up an opportunity like this to work with Fangio? Credit Vic not only for being a master on game day, he also has a keen eye for talent - on both the coaching and player level. The defensive backfield is pretty much stacked this season - especially if the team adds a tweak to the safety position. If we see another season of strong play on the back end of the defense, if Vic decides to hang 'em up, I could see Pelligrino taking over the defense if the current coaching staff remains in place.

I have seen some ex Eagles names be tossed around, and I say HELL NO. I am NOT interested in Jim Schwartz at ALL.
Nor Jonathan Gannon. The only ex Eagle coach I like is Sean McDermott, who will probably take another head coaching gig.
I like you idea, and also haven't really given to much thought as to WHO I like yet. I'll cross that bridge when we come to it next year.

It'll likely depend on how the season goes. If the season is generally viewed positively...i.e., they look good and legit compete in the playoffs...it'll mean Sirianni stays and if Fangio retires, they'll be looking for his heir apparent to run a similar scheme. Clint Hurtt would be the most likely internal candidate followed by Joe Kasper.

If the team stinks this year....i.e., the offense, and the season is viewed negatively...that could very well mean the end of Sirianni. If Sirianni goes, all bets are off as far as the next DC.

I'd want an DC that's outside the team/organization No more internal hires, please.

A HUGE no to Gannon or Gym Shorts.

It will likely be Jim Schwartz..

Pretty sure he wants to be a HC since it's been so long

Or with the Eagles as DC if he is taking one. With the young talent they have it's hard to blame him.

I'm not sure I understand this. Offensively there have been reasonable gripes about the passing offense / philosophy every year, so I can see why people might want a change in philosophy at the very least. But defensively, I think there's less of a reason, unless you just don't like Fangio's defense. If you remember, Desai was an outside hire, as was Patricia --- both hired over promoting Dennard Wilson who left. The defense totally fell apart in one season. Also, in most cases, an outside hire is just some other team's potential "internal hire."

In hindsight promoting Wilson would have been a much better move (hard to believe it could have been worse). It's a shame ... he seemed to be the perfect candidate being groomed to eventually take over for Vic when he decides to call it a day. From the current staff, Hurtt would seem to make quite a bit of sense.

Schwartz is a good DC. Underrated here Held teams to 17 points average in the playoffs. Was here when Howie was only drafting offensive players in the first 3 rounds.

Would be a solid choice.

Juan Castillo

Maybe McDermott. If the Eagles have an average season this upcoming season and start off shaky the following year... maybe they fire Siri and promote McDermott and get a new qb
