Posted Monday at 03:24 PM3 days Howie makes a pre-season trade or two virtually every year. It's time for him to start tweaking the roster and adding to next year draft picks. Asother teams incur injuries on their backup players the depth Howie has ammassed is a valuable asset. So who are Howie's possible moves to other teams - OT - Fred Johnson. First, he's a free agent after this season. Then there's the emergence of Markel Bell, the presence of veteran John Ojukwu, and developmental tackles Miles Hinton and Cameron Williams.RB - On how many teams would Carson Steele be among the top three running backs? Would his outstanding performance make Tank Bigsby available?DT - The Eagles have a delimma and a trade of one of their DT's could help solve it. 5 DT's on the 53 is the optimal and as it stands they have to keep 6 to protect Uar Bernard. Now that Ty Robinson has finally shown his potential in real games he could be the 4th DT. That would free up a possible trade of Byron Young who like the players above is an impending free agent with a gasirly big pyday coming. And then there's Gabe Hall and Zion Wilson. Edge - another delimma. Weru can't be designated as an initernational player until after the post cut-down waiver period. That complicated the numbers game. Excluding Jackson and KJN tha tleave 6. Nolan Smith could be available?QB - it's a reach that anyone would want wither of them at this point, but an injury on anopther team this week could change that equation. WR - the Birds are loaded with #3 and#4 wide receivers. Could someone think Hollywood, Elijah Moore, or Cooper would be a fit? Unlikely, but possible. IOL - Kendall and Lampkin are locks. Morris is a mid-round draft pick. Jake Majors has played well and Michael Jordan is a vet. Agasin - unlikely but possibleLB - who'd have thought the Eagles would have linebacker depth that will force them to cut a good one. Mondon? Campbell? Or shoot for a bigger return - Trotter! And what would we benefit from adding?TE - Are a pair of one dimensional players enough behind Goedert? No!S - remember the acquisition of CJGJ? Be nice if Howie could pull off a similar moveQB - if we could both Dalton and McKee a vet could be in the cards. CB - do we really have a 4th and 5th corner we're comfortable with? Possible gets - S - Cleveland Donovan McMillan. The Browns drafted McNeil-Warren in the 2nd. He's got to start. TE - Raiders Michael Mayer, He starting quality but won't start with Brock Bowers ahead of him. Goedert is near the end. CB - Seahawks Julian Neal. Former 3rd round draft pick.
Monday at 05:57 PM3 days It'll likely be some trade that we'll all react with a "meh" to. That said, a few interesting thoughts for me are:Checking with the Raiders to see how much concern they actually have about Jeanty. If there's concern, pitch a Bigsby for Mayer trade. The Saints lost their best DT for the season. If they were willing to pony up at least a 2027 2nd for Ojomo, I'd take it. I'd be interested in seeing what Nolan Smith could fetch in draft capital. As for acquiring players, I think Howie will be looking at basically what you said, with S and TE being the top options.
Tuesday at 12:59 AM3 days I don't get the idea of trading talent away from the team for future picks. This is another SB possible season. You don't dump Trotter or Ojomo ahead of that.A 2nd round pick instead of 20 games of Ojomo and a 3rd? No way in hell.
Tuesday at 01:34 AM3 days Yeah I'm not interested in giving up good depth or possible starters for day 2 or day 3 picks next year. Maybe if the wheels have fell off by the trade deadline then sure but, not in preseason.

He may end up swinging a deal that moves a bottom of the roster piece that has no chance at making the roster for a late day 3 pick that could even be in 2028 (or in a player-for-player deal) or maybe deal someone like Dalton knowing McKee is going to be QB2 this year and Payton will be QB3, but don't really see much more than that.

Bigsby for Mayer is a horrible trade for us for many reasons. Trading Ojomo is extremely unsmart. The fact that two people liked that post... I have no words.

I'd be hesitant to trade Ojomo...but...Young and Robinson could help fill that void decent enough. Getting a potentially high 2nd round pick (at least) in a draft that should be stacked with good players would be good for a team that is gonna need to continue getting good, cheap talent in the draft. Don't get it twisted though...I'm not saying I want to do this, I'm just saying that I'd certainly listen and if I got a good enough deal for him, yeah, I'd trade our 3rd DT.

Trading Bigsby and/or Ojomo are significant blows to this teams roster and on field production. It would be extremely counterproductive.Maybe you dont have the same aspirations for this season. Your trades reflect the actions of a GM churning a roster and re-cycling assets until everything comes together at a level where they can compete. I do not see the team at that stage. I think we are well beyond that. My trades would be sending bubble players to teams for late round picks. Like, if someone likes Mondon enough (I dont), Ill take a 7th and let Chance Campbell make the team.Or, send late rounds picks for a decent backup CB with upside. Or safety, etc.I am on board with trading Nolan Smith because I have no interest in re-signing him, and I dont even feel that his presence makes much of a difference on the field for us this year anyway. Hunt and Greenard with Ebiketie and Epenesa backing them up is still a nice rotation which makes Nolan completely expendable while we can hopefully still get some value for him.

That said, Mayer would be of real value this year and beyond...moreso than Bigsby, IMO. Bigsby is good, but RB depth is far easier to find, in general. Mayer could replace Goedert next year and beyond because who knows about Stowers. I'd take this deal and not think twice.Ojomo is the one I'd have a hard time with. I don't think they will trade him and this thread is just about hypothetical thoughts. But I'd be real enticed by a good deal for him. That decision could only be made with the knowledge of how Young and Robinson are really doing and what they think they can deliver this year in place of Ojomo. Always have to keep one eye on the future.

As he enters big money on his age 30 and 31 seasons.Barkley needs a bounce back year this season or rlse its time to think about using that out.Bigsby will be a free agent after this season, and still just 26 years old at that point.Whether he is RB 1 next year or not, I believe the eagles traded for him with a 2nd contract in mind. He is going to be siged at a not top of market deal which will be a bargain for the production he is capable of.

His cap number for the upcoming season is just under $10M (dead money if cut a ridiculous $39M). Cap hit next year isn't too bad ($13M) but still $16.6M in dead money if cut. 2028 his cap number jumps to $17M and dead money is only $8.6M (with $8.8M in cap savings). Unless I'm reading that wrong (or the page isn't accurate).

Tuesday at 03:37 PM2 days We need a second TE that can block and receive like we need water. This offense is too predictable without the second TE. All the TE behind Goddard are too one sided. Howie better start trading for one.Safety position is not as bad as everyone thought in the begining of the camp. CB? We could always use a CB but so does everyone also. Most likely the ones that will be available are not going to interest us. QB? Tanner is the second QB ones he picks up the offense. Andy has a better head, but much weaker arm. The lines are good.WR??? Will Howie go into the season with so much unknown, or will he bring in another WR????
Tuesday at 03:57 PM2 days Author Thanks for the discussion. Seems like Ojomo is a consensus keeper, and we'll resigh ourselves to a 3rd round comp pick in 2028.With Jeanty's sprained ankle the Raiders spi;d be om the running back market. i see there's been a back and forth regarding Bigsby. I'm on the trade him side if we could get Mayer. No on e commented on Big Fred - I still think he's a possibility. We're one injury away from another team losing a back up tackle for teams to come calling but he cettainly won't garner a starting caliber player. Then there's DT - Remembere Breese is out for the year. Hall, Young, Wilson, and Blay are all possibilities but I don't think we could get Noah Fant as a back up tight end and we'd likely get a 3rd day draft pick.

I imagine they're thinking at this point that Barkley will be here next year as well. We don't know what he can do as a FT starting RB for an entire season. We've seen him in a couple brief spurts, hard to draw conclusions long term. We don't know how Mayer would fare either, but TE is harder to find than RB. In any case, it's just my opinion. If I had the chance to trade Bigsby for Mayer, it would be a no-brainer for me...value-wise.
Tuesday at 08:46 PM2 days We need another outside CB. Maybe Howie can trade someone he is going to cut for another team's final roster cut. Or maybe, with OTs so valuable around the league, he could trade Fred Johnson for a CB. Or we claim one after final cuts. Or trade a late round pick. Somehow I bet we add one
