Wednesday at 01:16 PM5 days In this week's Roob's Eagles Stats, some good and a whole lot of truly atrociousThe Eagles are having one of the worst defensive stretches in franchise history.By Reuben Frank • Published October 28, 2026I’ve got a few stats that aren’t cringeworthy. Just a few. A little Makai Lemon, a bit of Dallas Goedert and a dash of Saquon. But I thought it would be insulting to start this week’s Roob’s Eagles Stats with anything remotely positive, so we’re going to go full-bore THIS TEAM STINKS and get started with some of the most demoralizing, depressing, miserable stats we could unearth.Sorry, but this is really bad. And we’re here to break it all down. Because win or lose, that’s what we do. Just remember it's not the stats that keep losing.HOW BAD IS THE DEFENSE STATS: This is literally one of the worst defensive stretches in franchise history. Let’s take a look:- The Eagles are the first team in NFL history with three or fewer takeaways and eight or fewer sacks through seven games. They’re only the 14th team with three or fewer takeaways through seven games. The eight sacks are tied for fewest in franchise history after seven games since sacks became an official stat in 1982. The 1993 team also had only eight sacks after seven games. The three takeaways are the fewest they’ve ever had after seven games. The previous low was four in the 2024 Super Bowl season.- The Eagles’ 2,599 yards allowed are 3rd-most in franchise history after seven games behind two Chip Kelly teams – 2013 (2,889) and 2014 (2,685). The Eagles are the seventh team in NFL history to allow 2,500 yards and record three or fewer takeaways in its first seven games. There are 10 NFL edge rushers or interior linemen who have played at least 250 snaps this year and don’t have any sacks, and three of the 10 are Eagles – Moro Ojomo has played 299 snaps, Jalyx Hunt 268 snaps and Arnold Ebiketie 251. No other team has more than one with no sacks.- The Eagles have allowed 375 or more yards in five straight games for only the third time in franchise history. Also happened in 2012 and 2015. This is also only the second time ever the Eagles have allowed 2,000 yards with three or fewer takeaways in a five-game span. They’ve allowed 920 rushing yards, a 4.2 average and nine rushing touchdowns through seven games. Last time that happened was the nightmare 1998 season, when they allowed 1,049 rushing yards, a 5.0 average and 10 rushing TDs in their first seven games. The Eagles have allowed 100 rushing yards in nine straight games overall and seven in a row to start a season for only the second time in the last 50 years. The Cowboys’ 204 rushing yards are their 2nd-most ever in a game in Philadelphia. They had 271 in a game at the Vet in 1993, the notorious "Leonard Renfro Game." If you know, you know.- The Eagles have gone eight straight games without more than two sacks, the 3rd-longest streak in franchise history behind a 12-game streak over the 2024 and 2025 seasons and a 10-game streak in 1993. The Eagles’ streak of 69 consecutive games without more than two interceptions is twice as long as any previous streak in franchise history. They went 34 straight games without more than two INTs over the 2019 through 2021 seasons. It’s the 9th-longest streak in NFL history. - The Eagles have been outscored by 11 points per game during their five-game losing streak. Last time the Eagles lost five straight by an average of double digits was 2012 and before that 1999. They’ve allowed 14.1 points per game in the second half and they’ve been outscored by an average of 14-5 after halftime.OK, THIS IS PATHETIC: The Eagles have been outgained by 127, 243, 176, 177 and 95 yards during their five-game losing streak for a total yardage margin of 822 yards. That’s the most yards they’ve been outgained by in a five-game span in 54 years. In 1972, they were outgained by 822 yards in losses to the Cowboys, Giants, Washington, Bears and Cardinals. The 822-yard margin is the 7th-largest in franchise history, with three of the six largest coming in the 1930s. This is the third time in franchise history the Eagles have been outgained by at least 95 yards in five games in a row. It happened in 1937 and again during the 2023 late-season collapse. THIS IS NOT GOOD AT ALL: In their last three games, the Eagles have rushed for 22, 35 and 121 yards while allowing 102, 126 and 204 rushing yards. So they’ve been out-rushed by 80, 91 and 83 yards against the Jaguars, Panthers and Cowboys. This is the first time in 33 years they’ve been out-rushed by 80 or more yards in three games in a row. Last time it happened was 1993 when they were out-rushed by 120 yards against the Giants, 132 against the Cowboys and 178 against the Cards. They’ve been out-rushed by 306 yards this year, their worst through seven games since 2005. Yikes.JAVONTE WILLIAMS? REALLY? Which one of these does not fit? Emmitt Smith, Tony Dorsett and Javonte Williams? Two are Hall of Famers and the Eagles made the third one look like a Hall of Famer Monday night. Williams, who came into the game averaging 52.8 yards per game and 3.7 yards per carry, ran for 155 yards, the 6th-most rushing yards ever by a Cowboy against the Eagles behind four games by Smith and one by Dorsett. It was the most yards by a Cowboy vs. the Eagles in 31 years, since Smith ran for 158 in a 34-12 Cowboys win at Texas Stadium in 1995. It was the 2nd-most rushing yards ever by a Cowboy in Philadelphia, behind only Smith’s career-high 237 yards at the Vet in 1993. With Chuba Hubbard running for 120 yards last week and Williams going for 155 Monday night, the Eagles have allowed a back to run for at least 120 yards in consecutive games for the first time since the 2006 playoffs, when Tiki Barber ran for 137 in the Eagles’ wild-card win over the Giants at the Linc and Deuce McAllister went for 143 a week later at the Superdome in the Saints’ 27-24 conference semifinal win. That was 20 years ago.DAK DOES IT AGAIN: Another masterpiece against the Eagles by Dak Prescott, who recorded his fourth career game against the Eagles with three or more touchdowns and no interceptions. That’s tied with Eli Manning for most ever against the Eagles. Three of those games have come at the Linc. Only Donovan McNabb (9) and Jalen Hurts (6) have had more games at the Linc with three touchdowns and no INTs. Prescott has now thrown 250 passes at the Linc without an interception. Prescott has now beaten the Eagles 11 times, the most wins against the Eagles since Jim Hart beat them 17 times from 1967 through 1983. The only other QBs who’ve beaten the Eagles as much as Prescott are Hall of Famers Roger Staubach [13] and Sammy Baugh [12]. Charlie Conerly and Sonny Jurgensen have also beaten the Eagles 11 times. Prescott’s three TD passes Monday night gave him 29 against the Eagles, 3rd-most all-time behind Manning [54] and Jurgensen [33]. 2ND HALF WOES: The Eagles have allowed 99 points this year after halftime, their most in the second half through seven games not surprisingly since 2013, Chip Kelly’s first season, when they gave up 106 points after halftime through seven games. They’ve been outscored by 62 points in the second half, the most they’ve been outscored in a second half through seven games as far back as quarter-by-quarter stats are available on Stathead, which is 1977.THEY HAVEN’T WON IN A WHILE: The Eagles’ losing streak is the 21st in franchise history of at least five games within a single season and tied for 12th-longest. None of the previous 20 teams that lost five in a row made the playoffs, and only one didn’t have a losing record. That was the 1974 team, which opened up 4-1, lost six straight to fall to 4-7, then won their last three games. In NFL history, 655 teams have lost five games in a row within the same season, and nine of them made the playoffs, most recently the 2023 Dolphins.SAQUON IS STILL GOOD: He keeps getting hurt, but when he’s been healthy Saquon Barkley has been super productive. Barkley’s 5.7 rushing average is 5th-highest in franchise history through seven games (minimum 40 carries) and is 2nd-highest among NFL running backs, behind only Kenny Walker of the Chiefs, who’s at 5.8. Barkley’s average with the Eagles is up to 5.1, 2nd-highest by a running back in franchise history behind Ernie Steele, who averaged 5.2 yards per carry from 1942 through 1948. Not surprisingly, Barkley is averaging 6.7 yards per carry before halftime, 2nd-highest in the league among running backs in the first half (behind only the Cards’ Zonovan Knight at 8.17) on 29-for-195. After halftime, Barkley is 14-for-49 for 3.5 yards per carry.GOEDERT MOVES UP TO 4TH: With five catches, Dallas Goedert increased his career total to 431 receptions, passing Brian Westbrook and moving into fourth place in franchise history behind Harold Carmichael (589), Zach Ertz (582) and Pete Retzlaff (452). Including playoffs, Goedert has 478 catches and trails only Carmichael (618) and Ertz (615). Goedert’s 431 regular-season receptions rank 40th all-time among tight ends but if you include playoffs he’s 30th with those 478 receptions. He needs just 22 more to become the 26th tight end with 500 career catches. Goedert’s 431 regular-season receptions are 13th-most by a tight end in his first 113 career games.MAKAI CAN PLAY: Makai Lemon had seven catches Monday night, and only two Eagles rookie wide receivers have ever had more. In 1940, Don Looney had 14 catches in Washington and eight in road games against the Rams in Cleveland and the Packers in Green Bay. And in 2014, Jordan Matthews had eight at home vs. Washington and on the road vs. the Giants. A couple tight ends and a running back had more than seven catches as rookies; Keith Jackson had games with 8, 8, 9 and 10 catches in 1988, Charlie Young had eight catches against the Patriots in 1973 and running back Junior Tuatalatasi had 11 catches against the Giants in 1986. Looney’s 14 catches 86 years ago are still tied for 2nd-most ever by a rookie behind Puka Nacua’s 15 against the 49ers in 2023. Lemon’s 25 catches are 8th-most by an Eagle after seven games and 5th-most in the last 50 years, behind Jackson (42), DeVonta Smith (32), Desean Jackson (32) and Matthews (29).https://www.nbcsportsphiladelphia.com/nfl/philadelphia-eagles/roobs-eagles-stats-some-good-a-whole-lot-of-truly-atrocious-defense/762145/
