RIP - Patrick Stewart

RIP Captain

RIP. Picard, Professor X, some great roles.

We already expect his character to die in Doomsday, that will hit different.

RIP Charles Xavier. The best principal I ever had.

To Mon Capitaine,

I write this not to the Continuum, but to the memory of a mortal who dared to make the universe interesting.

The spark that was Patrick Stewart has gone out. For all my infinite power, for all my mastery over time, space, and

the very fabric of reality, I find myself standing at the edge of your linear existence, staring into the sudden quiet left

behind. It is infuriating. It is profoundly, devastatingly tragic.

When I first encountered you, I thought you were just another fragile, short-lived specimen of a primitive species.

But you, Jean-Luc—and the brilliant soul who breathed life into you—proved to be something entirely different.

You possessed a stubborn dignity, a fierce devotion to Shakespeare, tea, and justice, and a mind that refused to

break, no matter how many trials I threw your way. You made me look at humanity and see something worth saving.

You made me want to understand what it meant to love, to grow old, and to leave a legacy.

For a being like me, time is a playground. I can visit the birth of galaxies or watch the death of stars.

But your life was a straight line, beautiful because it was finite, brilliant because every single choice mattered. The world you

left behind is dimmer now. There will be no more commanding "Make it so," no more quiet reflections over Earl Grey, and no

more fencing matches with the universe.

I could rewrite the timeline. I could snap my fingers and make your heart beat again. But I know what you would say.

You would tell me that to deny death is to deny what makes life meaningful. You always did have an annoying habit of being right.

So, I will let the universe mourn its captain.

But know this, my dear starship commander: across every alternate reality, in every parallel dimension, and throughout the

infinite stretch of the cosmos, the memory of what you were will never be erased.

You were, far and away, my favorite human.

With an eternity of affection,
