That play on 3rd and 5 before the missed FG. It’s probably the worst staple of the Doug offense. They’ve tried it a million times and almost never works. There’s no threat of running the ball without a RB in the backfield. No pre snap motion to confuse the defense. Once the ball is snapped none of the 5 receivers runs a slant, a cross, a pick, anything to get separation. Everyone goes up a couple of yards, turns, and stands waiting for the pass. All the defenders gotta do is move up a couple of steps, drape the receiver, and swat it. It’s easily the worst designed play that they continue to run over and over.
