Do you really think that though? I really don't.

Of course. You don't draft a guy in the second round to never play. He was specifically drafted to replace Wentz.

I really don't believe that I really don't. We are all entitled to our own opinions but I just don't see that they drafted Hurts to replace Wentz.

If you're right and I'm wrong, Roseman is the biggest idiot to ever hold an executive position in the NFL and should be fired immediately.  No one could be stupid enough to use a second round pick on a player you never intend to play. No one.

Umm... Yep you can say that again.

Howie should be fired anyway.

I  thought the LBs played well last night. I guess Nate Gerry's job is in trouble. LOL

It's possible that Hurts was drafted for 2 reasons:

1. Insurance policy because of Wentz's repeated injury history...(and because Foles was getting too expensive, and Wentz's fragile ego couldn't handle the situation)

2. To light a fire under Wentz...the old "NOBODY is irreplaceable" ideology...some have said that Wentz is "uncoachable" and stubborn, inflexible....he still doesn't hold the ball with two hands and leads the league in QB fumbles...

who knows....but I do agree that you do not draft a QB that high without the intention of playing him at some point...and possibly as Wentz's successor

Wentz has a contract with that makes him untradable and we aren't cutting him so when do you think this takes place? Several years from now?

There were some positives from the game.

Travis has established himself as at the very least a solid starter.  He runs good routes, makes tough catches and draws a lot of PI's.

Edwards was super active out there and will make a big difference in the run game.  Good solid tackler.

I liked what I saw from Reagor.  He definitely looks like a playmaker.  I wanted Jefferson in the draft and believe he will be the best WR out of this class but what is done is done. Jalen had a td, the extra point, the effort on the first down.  Good stuff!

Health.  With the bye coming up we have a chance to get a few guys healthy for the post season run.

As much doom and gloom going around we still have some solid pieces going forward.

The biggest issue of course is Wentz. He has not played well and deserves plenty of blame. However,  I don't care what fans think, I believe he will turn it around.

Just want to say, as a birds fan living in Dallas, WHEW. that was way too close for comfort. last night i needed was for the cowboys fans around here to be crowing about beating us with a sopranos extra at QB.

Of course if you take the fumbles away, they really only scored 3 points. short field turnovers are the only reason why they even had a chance.

The WRs suddenly don't look so terrible with Fulgham and Reagor. But i'm not sure if Wentz is holding onto the ball too long due to bad decision making or because people aren't getting open.

Don’t have a link but think Reich said ‘it goes in one ear and out the other.’  Think he said it about Wentz not sliding to protect himself.  Just saying that somewhere between the coaches and Wentz communication is breaking down and that it’s happened before.  Not a new subject.

They didn't draft Hurts because they think Wentz is all that. Doug sees how bad Wentz is. Hurts was drafted to be Wetnz' replacement.

I don’t really know who made the call to draft Hurts, but I have noticed 8 weeks in he’s always the quarterback in the gadget plays. If he was their Taysom Hill then he’d be out there playing receiver too. They’re grooming them to be a quarterback.

They can cut him after next season with no cap hit

I wish it were true. He was drafted as insurance, insurance they're obviously not willing to use at this point.

He was drafted as insurance in case Wentz went down. I really don't think their plan was to have him take over from Wentz because I don't think they expected Wentz to be quite so bad.

I'm normally just happy to beat the cowboys every year. This game didn't even feel like a win.

I had heard there was a "buyout” to his deal. I know this much when his deal balloons to over 30 mil the guy out there right now isn’t close to worth that kind of coin.

Unless I misremember, I think he still gets like a 24/25 mil hit to the cap even if he was cut. Now granted it's not as high, but we'd be on the books for a lot of money still.

Again, not sure if I'm mistaken.

I don’t think he’s giving them half that. He hasn’t played a good full game this season.

He lined up as a wr vs Dallass

Best you can do for after the 2021 season is a post 6/1 release which is 9 million in dead money in 2022 and 15 million is 2023. Pre 6/1 is 24 million in dead money.

Cut? He needs a columbian neck tie.

I've been thinking on this since game-time yesterday . . . gotta get some of it out or I'm gonna burst !

I'm sure this entire Wentz saga is being played out over & over & over in the heads of the Eagles brain-trusts.

I'm also sure they'd like to get through this season before pulling the trigger on some sort of corrective action.

Otherwise, we'd never be in the position we're in at the moment. Just my opinion.

Hurts was drafted in order to back up Wentz, period. He was there in the 2nd round and was seen as filling any

of several potential "needs" going forward. It's clear they have no intention of going forward with Sudfeld, perhaps

not even in 3rd string.

We here on the outside can entertain all of our theories and ideas with no responsibility or fiduciary consequences . . .

but team management cannot. They've 'married' this guy and now he's going off on a 'drunken bender' so to speak.

Team management are wondering if he's ever gonna come home in one piece and be the man that they thought he

would be. If it were me I'd be looking at the fine print of his contract and plotting exactly where & when I make my move,

depending upon his actions.

Wentz has crossed a barrier: he's no longer seen as a good QB going through a rough time. He's now being seen as some

sort of megalomaniacal  (and very wealthy)  young man who thinks he can do whatever he wants with impunity and little or no

regard for the team or those around him. He is now being openly ridiculed by some in the media and it's only a question of

time before they all jump on the carousel.

This  HAS  to be embarrassing to team management. They can say they don't pay attention to such things and  YADA  YADA  YADA

but ya know what?  TheHAVE  to pay attention to this b/c they make their living off a positive media image which is now being ridiculed.

Unless Wentz can somehow right the ship I don't see this going on like this more than another  2 - 4  games tops.

Yesterday's game was a  NATIONAL  EMBARRASSMENT  ON  NATIONAL  TV.

Something's gotta give.

This.

Hurts was not drafted to replace Wentz. He wasn't drafted to lit a fire under Wentz. He was drafted because the team liked his skill set and saw him as a cheap long term back up.

if they only needed a backup...why draft someone so high? I mean they could have signed Andy Dalton  or similar....who would not have been a '"threat" to Wentz..typically the backup QB is often the experienced Veteran..who is more game ready to come in, in case something happens to the starter...
