Trump motivation 28 members have voted

  1. 1. What is driving Trump's post election behavior?

    • Desperation ("cornered dog") - he is simply trying to stay out of prison
    • Marketing prowess ("Carnival Barker GOAT") - he is simply securing/enlarging his base for current/future gain and exploitation, e.g. OAN, 2024
    • Insanity ("5D madman") - he truly believes his own conspiracy theories, thinks the election was stolen, and actually thinks he will prevail via the courts
    • Stupidity ("orange clown") - he has no idea what to do now and just falls back to his goto "create more chaos" modus operandi

we def need an all of the above option.

I hear ya man.  I thought about it but decided it was more interesting to have to pick one.

You can use posts to express all of them.  I did just that.

I think at this point a serious case can be made that Trump is doing Putin's bidding in exchange for certain "golden shower" photos or videos not being released.

First he dragged his feet on covid... now he's ignoring the urgent appeals of military and intelligence experts and even Republican congressmen
to cooperate in the transition for the security of our nation - who warn that it puts America in unnecessary and very real danger.

And his diehard lemming followers who see a deep state threat lurking in every alley ignore his genuinely treasonous tantrum,
even lauding it.

Because it’s the one that makes the most sense.  Have to say I’m intrigued by the theory that Trump is actually a madman though...

You are attempting to apply reason and logic to the actions of Donald J. Trump.

Don’t do that.

He’s just trying to save face. It’s really that simple.

People continue to think that Trump plays some advanced game of political chess. He doesn't. His thoughts and actions are ruled by base emotions just like a child. He just faced wholesale rejection by the country so naturally, his reaction is to deny it actually happened.

It’s not working.

I voted for Insanity. It Pretty much accurately describes Trump and his base who believes every word he says.

Is he golfing today?  I voted stupidity. Solidifies the fact that he never wanted the job in the first place.  He's not doing a damn thing with the time he has left except golf, so just get out already.  He's such a fraud

Eight posters picked "Cornered Dog".  I sure hope that isn't what this ends up being at the end of the road.

Don’t discount "mad man”. That was my pick and I’m sticking with it.

There is a mix of truth across all four choices.  At this stage, "Mad Man" seems like a better end result than "Cornered Dog" though both would be really bad.

All 4.  Changes and cycles through them hour to hour.

Nothing has changed for me from that Nov. post.  This whole thing is so far beyond stupid.  I have to remain hopeful though, that he leaves peacefully.

I chose desperation for the just trying to stay out of prison part of it.

I would definitely lean more to insanity now...

An example needs to be made of everyone pushing misinformation. Hawley, Cruz, Giuliani and trump... all of them need to be made an example of, or it will only get worse ‘next time’.

The other option is that he doesn't know any other way to do anything.

If he loses, he says he won. He believes it 100%. He is excellent at self-delusion. It is stupidity, it is arrogance, and it is insanity.

I still think it's a combination of 3 (insanity, true believer) and 4 (stupidity, sow chaos). I voted 4 originally, though I think the answer has shifted a bit more towards 3 than I believed it was 2 mos ago.

I think originally it was also a bit of 2 (carnival barker) , but I think it's less so that than I believed 2 mos ago based largely on the transcripts from GA call. he actually believes his own BS.

This. I have talked for a while about how 1980s and 1990s Trump was in on the joke. Watch interviews with him, especially with guys like Letterman and Stern. He knows he is a carnival barker simply playing a role to get attention. However, in the 2000s, Trump's obvious significant cognitive decline (starting from a substandard level) combined with his role on the Apprentice shifted things; Trump lost himself in the character and began believing he was the greatest dealmaker in the universe. He's like the stupid, untalented Daniel Day Lewis.

It's a sign of his mental weakness and ineptitude that he now buys into ever crazy thing he hears.

I held some notion, or at least believed their was some reasonable chance, that he was still in on it.  but I think he really believes his own BS now.

I've always said the best comp for Trump is late-stage Andy Kaufman.  He started telling a joke in the 80's and now he's completely disappeared into the punchline.

Does he really think he won the election or does he just want to stay out of prison?

I vacillate every five minutes about this...

I think he's absolutely insane and really believes he won. He's always been a narcissist, but that is now part of his deep and steady mental decline.
