Trump motivation 28 members have voted

  1. 1. What is driving Trump's post election behavior?

    • Desperation ("cornered dog") - he is simply trying to stay out of prison
    • Marketing prowess ("Carnival Barker GOAT") - he is simply securing/enlarging his base for current/future gain and exploitation, e.g. OAN, 2024
    • Insanity ("5D madman") - he truly believes his own conspiracy theories, thinks the election was stolen, and actually thinks he will prevail via the courts
    • Stupidity ("orange clown") - he has no idea what to do now and just falls back to his goto "create more chaos" modus operandi

I think he's absolutely insane and really believes he won. He's always been a narcissist, but that is now part of his deep and steady mental decline.

I think I've reached the point of believing this after yesterday.  LOL

From all reports, he will not even speak or associate with anyone who does not share his fantasy. His biggest sycophants reinforce his delusions.

This crap is wild.

I think this one of the four has taken over now.  Each of them has a role but this one seems to have emerged as top dog.  If he stays in this vein he's dangerous but he's less dangerous then if he transitions to "Cornered Dog".

This. I have talked for a while about how 1980s and 1990s Trump was in on the joke. Watch interviews with him, especially with guys like Letterman and Stern. He knows he is a carnival barker simply playing a role to get attention. However, in the 2000s, Trump's obvious significant cognitive decline (starting from a substandard level) combined with his role on the Apprentice shifted things; Trump lost himself in the character and began believing he was the greatest dealmaker in the universe. He's like the stupid, untalented Daniel Day Lewis.

It's a sign of his mental weakness and ineptitude that he now buys into ever crazy thing he hears.

That's a funny take I haven't heard yet.  The Method Actor who got lost in the character to disastrously ridiculous results.  Casey Affleck on steroids.

Respectfully, I think it stems from his upbringing.  He was stupid from the get go.  One documentary showed his very first interview, a TV show for the rich and famous.  So like him watching that.   But to your point, he definitely grew into stupider.

He was never that smart, I agree. I remember my few interactions with his son in college, and I am confident saying the Trump family IQ is not very high. However, he has clearly been suffering from significant cognitive decline for years.
